1  Economy / Exchanges / Leveraged trading question on: January 24, 2020, 02:13:25 AM
On Deribit (and I think Bitmex also, but I'm not entirely sure since I don't use them), there is a parameter to your position that states the liquidation price, i.e., when your equity falls below the maintenance margin, under which you're forced to liquidate your positions.

However, what I've found is that this price is only indicative of when liquidation STARTS to occur, and not when you're actually fully bankrupt and all your positions are liquidated.

Is there a way to calculate the price at which that occurs? Is liquidation a linear process or dynamic according to market conditions?
2  Other / Meta / User spamming links to dark web markets on: January 24, 2020, 01:37:01 AM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2744542;sa=showPosts

Seems like he bought a copper membership just to do this, he's spamming his links everywhere across the forum for the past hour.

Anyone considering visiting this site should know that
a) Products on there seem to be vastly illegal
b) There is no guarantee of the legitimacy of the hsite.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Any sportsbook that allows parlay from the same game? on: January 23, 2020, 07:24:38 AM
I'm wondering this because Nitrogen, which is where I usually play on, doesn't allow this. They only allow cross game parlays.

I'm not familiar with how the sportsbook world works in general since I'm just a casual player.

Is it industry standard to reject multi-bets from the same game (e.g. betting on ML as well as the spread, or ML as well as over/under)? Are there any crypto operators that allow you to do this?
4  Economy / Reputation / Surebets01 committing fraud on: January 07, 2020, 08:48:09 AM
User in question: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2663136;sa=showPosts

He is packaging sports tips in a way that suggests he has insider knowledge about the outcomes of the games (which is illegal) and misleading others in order to con others into giving him free money, essentially.

He's saying that he will refund double the bets that lose while demanding that you pay him half of what you win. There is no risk involved for him whatsoever in this venture as he can simply run away (which he has) whenever someone has lost a bet.
5  Economy / Collectibles / Milkspotting on silver coins? on: October 19, 2019, 10:58:06 AM
I've got some serious milk spotting going on on some of the coins I've got. The most severely affected category of coins is probably the maple leaves (without surprises here).

I've tried rubbering but the new radial design of the maple leaves make it difficult to get rid of it completely. I'm also concerned that the abrasion from that will make the coin's surface appear inconsistent (I know it's bullion, but I've got some higher end collectible stuff that has milkspotting as well).

My question is, does anyone have recommendations for a chemical cleaner that is able to get rid of these spots, or would they only be rid with an eraser?

Cheers
6  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitskins alternatives? on: October 18, 2019, 10:12:05 PM
I'm looking to sell some CSGO skins for BTC, I was wondering what sites other than Bitskins would be the best right now?

What is even going with Bitskins? They were announcing that they were going to shut down and apparently new ownership has now taken over or something? Are they still safe to use?

Also, anyone had any experience with sites like Skinbay or Skinbaron?
7  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / How to reset portfolio history on Ledger Live? on: October 01, 2019, 11:40:15 PM
On Ledger Live there is a graph at the home page which essentially tracks the value of your portfolio over time held in your ledger.

While this is a very useful feature, I'm not sure how one would go about resetting these statistics and start from scratch. I couldn't find any answers online. Would you just have to wait a year (which is the maximum amount of time the graph tracks)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
8  Economy / Speculation / Why is bitcoin dominance climbing in this bull market? on: June 26, 2019, 11:21:57 PM
I think that a lot of people had expected BTC dominance to go down as we saw the bull market unfold, because in the 2017 bull market we saw a huge dip in this index from 80+% pre-bull market to the sub-40%'s.

So, why is this trending in the opposite direction now? It pretty much went from 35% to 62% within a year and a half. Historical data and intuition would tell us that as euphoria enters the market, more people will toss their money away towards "penny-tokens".

Could it be attributed to institutional investors, the better fundamentals underlying BTC and the network, or a more mature market? Or is it something else?
9  Economy / Service Discussion / Localbitcoins now requires identification on: May 06, 2018, 08:07:11 AM
So we all knew that LBC was already going down the path of forced verification for advertisers, and they made the move that all advertisers will have to verify themselves before they can trade back in January.. And then later there was a warning for all people who had a high trade volume and "recommended" that they verify their identity. But I never expected them to actually restrict somewhat high volume traders so fast, since I was greeted with this message:

Quote
You need to verify your identity before you can continue trading. Proceed to verify your identity

I mean, you could still create new accounts and trade from them anonymously, but it's a tedious process to go through email and phone verification all the time. And a lot of offers won't be available to you because of the fact that you can't consistently trade up for a good reputation.

Time to move to a new p2p trading platform?
10  Economy / Services / Looking for custom portfolio on: November 19, 2017, 07:33:15 AM
Hi there everyone,

I'm a regular user of blockfolio/altpocket but i feel like the functionality is quite limited because i am unable to track my precious metals investment to be included in my portfolio. In altpocket's case, i can't even track fiat currencies let alone gold/silver.

I basically need something that can track the past performance of my portfolio, show gains and losses, reflect portfolio value in real time, basically everything that blockfolio does, except with support for a select few fiat currencies and gold/silver.

I don't know if i'm asking too much at this stage, but PM me with a quote if you can do this. My budget isn't going to be sky high. Spreadsheet/website, anything is fine. As long as it functions and works.

Thanks.

(link doesn't work because i dont want anyone to get phished).

Essentially the page told me to enter in my password and my session was expired, to phish for my password. Was about to enter my password before realising that this was a phishing site. Please neg this user and be careful with any PM links.

14  Other / Meta / Epay.com spamming topics all across the forum on: September 13, 2017, 10:45:47 AM
User in question: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1047112;sa=showPosts

Looking at his recent post history he is essentially advertising his business all over the forum. Whilst this alone is not harmful, the sheer amount of replicated and duplicated threads containing the same information, posting in different sections is unacceptable.

It does make it seem desperate that he wants customers as well, and doesn't make him seem trustworthy Roll Eyes

Anyways, does he deserve a ban?

As title says i am looking for trusted paypal funds. Only trusted members, do not bother if you do not have trades from at least 200 days prior without any issues afterwards. I can send first if you have a very good history and rep, otherwise you send first/arrange escrow.

You must send funds as f&f. Preev rates 1:1. I can buy up to $100 at once or have smaller trades.

PM or post here, thank you

EDIT: No longer needed. Thank you.
17  Economy / Economics / Housing bubble in Australia on: June 14, 2017, 07:02:10 AM
As we all know it's getting more and more expensive to buy a house, and the rate of growth currently associated with investing in a house is just phenomenal, and obviously too good to not be a bubble. We all know that. However, WHEN will this bubble pop?

More and more houses are being built but the demand for it just continues to go up. And many houses are bought and just left to sit there, not even rented out, fueling the problem further because investors just want a safe and profitable investment.

What do you think the governments can do to avoid this? Put a limit on houses per person? Your opinions?
18  Economy / Currency exchange / Have $20 Payza want Bitcoin on: June 11, 2017, 10:57:06 PM
Hey all!

I currently have $21.05 in my payza balance that i want to exchange into bitcoins. I'll pay the payza fee so when the funds actually hit your account it'll be somewhere around $20 minimum, perhaps even more.

Looking for a quick and smooth deal here. I don't mind paying a premium but please don't give me a heart attack with your percentage Wink

Please PM me asap if you are interested. If you have higher rep than me i'll send first, otherwise we use an escrow or you send first.

Thank you!
19  Economy / Currency exchange / WTS 1.5g gold in goldmoney on: June 07, 2017, 05:53:18 AM
As title says, i have 1.5 grams of gold in gold money currently.

0.5+g is in the Toronto vault whilst almost 1g is in the Dubai vault.

All of the gold is obtained through either bitcoin purchases or p2p trades with other bitcoin users. Proof of the source of funds can be shown upon request. I'm looking for offers of at least 70% currently.

Escrow is accepted or you send first.

Thanks and please PM me for a quick deal.
20  Economy / Digital goods / WTS monero backup mnemonics on: May 24, 2017, 06:31:12 AM
I'd like to sell a monero mnemonic that you can import into your wallet(although i don't know how to use it thus the reason why i'm selling it).

It contains 0.4+ XMR in its balance.

At current monero prices i would be happy to sell it for 0.006 BTC. Market price is more than 0.0085 i believe so a great way to get your hands on some cheap XMR(even though it might not be much).

I'll send first if you are trusted but otherwise we use escrow and you pay the fees.

Thanks
