1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Cash is currently trying to replace their leading dev (team) on: August 29, 2020, 03:27:42 PM
TL;DR: Bitcoin ABC (current reference node) has implemented a coinbase rule to redirect 8% of the block reward to them, everyone in BCH disagrees.

A new development team was created in response - Bitcoin Cash Node: https://bitcoincashnode.org

And a replacement for the ABC-owned bitcoincash.org page: https://bch.info

More info: https://read.cash/@georgedonnelly/amaury-sechet-is-forking-bitcoin-abc-away-from-bitcoin-cash-d701cbde

What's everyone outside of BCH thinking about a dev team implementing a controversial consensus rule redirecting 8% of the block reward to them? What would you do?

They will run a pre-sale (classic), stay away.

The Coin announcement is quite similar to RAVEN COIN ANN on there, nothing too much.
Checked the whitepaper which is on PDF, but was created from an IMG, we can't copy the text and search for Plagiarism, but they are so lazy, I searched about the whitepaper author and found that the document is almost 100% copied.

At the beginning of the whitepaper they changed a few words to be different but after a few pages the content is just the SAME.

3  Economy / Reputation / StoneCoin - Copied ANN Text on: May 13, 2020, 08:30:06 PM
It's a self Moderated topic here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5248243
https://web.archive.org/web/20200513203254/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5248243

I'm just quoting my comment in case that the OP delet it in the Thread.

Too lazy, Copied all the coin info, You could at least changed the text even with the same aspects, but is 100% copied from another coin.
It's a fork? Post the source, information, how people will trust in that?

Specifications:

  • PoW: custom, prime gaps
  • Block target time 2.5 minutes
  • Block reward proportional to the current difficulty
  • Block reward halving every 420000 (about 2 years)
  • Cap: about 10 - 30 million GAP
  • Difficulty adjusts every block and increases logarithmic (it will probably take years to get to 50)

Fair launch:

  • Gapcoin was not designed to enrich the early adopters or the coin creators! The more people mine Gapcoin, the more coins per block will be produced. (Coin supply will increase logarithmic with the difficulty, this means it will grow in the beginning, but later, it won't change much.)
  • There won't be any premine!
  • To avoid instamine, the reward of the first 1152 blocks (about 48 hours) will increase quadratically to its absolute value: the current difficulty. Block reward will be 1/1152^2 * blockheight^2 * difficulty for the first 1152 blocks. This should guarantee that the difficulty is stable until the blocks yield a worthwhile amount of coins.
  • Source code will be available before launch (excluding the PoW function), so everyone can setup their own environment, compile the software, and check if everything works.
  • Windows and Linux binaries will be distributed in an encrypted container before launch, the password will be revealed at launch.

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / One thought about what can happen after the Btc Halving. on: May 10, 2020, 11:45:32 PM
Miners use tons of electricity to process transactions, and the general assumption is that miners directly sell their newly created bitcoins to cover their electric and all the spences costs. Almost everyone knows that after the halving, not 1800 bitcoins, but only 900 bitcoins are supplied to the market day by day.
This change is believed to have a great positive effect on the price of bitcoin, but is not for sure.
If the price of bitcoin does not increase after the block is rewarded by half, great part of the miners revenue calculated in fiat money will decrease. This means that they will have trouble covering their costs, and that will cause miners with the highest electricity costs to leave the market first. The reduction in electricity consumption to maintain the network means that the difficulty of processing a block of transactions will decrease in the same way.
Theoretically, this means that it would be easier to attack the blockchain network and create 51% attacks on Bitcoin, even still being expensive to do so.

What do you think about it?
