1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Dollar supporters destroy Bitcoin ATM in El Salvador on: September 16, 2021, 03:40:30 AM
Astounded by the amazing success of Bitcoin implementation in El Salvador, anti-social elements sponsored by the USD lobby have started vandalizing and destroying the Bitcoin ATMs installed by the government. The Bitcoin implementation has proceeded relatively smoothly and this has angered those who were expecting it to fail. I don't expect them to stop with this. The next step may be rioters beating up anyone who is using Bitcoin and vandalizing shops that accept BTC as a payment mode.

2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / JP Morgan once again trying to spread prevent mainstream adoption of Bitcoin on: February 12, 2021, 03:43:34 AM
A few days back, there was a statement from some of the JPM executives.

“Corporate treasury portfolios are typically stuffed with bank deposits, money market funds, and short-dated bonds, meaning that annualized volatility – or the range of swings during the course of a year – hovers around 1%,” JPMorgan wrote, adding that a 1% bitcoin exposure would cause a significant increase in a portfolio’s volatility to as much as 8%.

Here they are trying to dissuade corporations from converting some of their cash reserves to Bitcoin, claiming that it will increase the volatility. According to JPM, corporate treasury portfolios typically have a volatility of less than 1% per year, and the addition of Bitcoin can increase the volatility from 1% to 8%. Let's examine both parts of the statement.

The first part claims that corporate treasury portfolios are comprised of low-volatile assets and the typical volatility range is 0% to 1% per year. Is this true? Obviously not. The M1 supply within the United States have risen by almost 50% during the last 12 months. Along with that, we can expect a proportional decrease in the purchasing power of the US Dollar. So these corporate portfolios are actually witnessing an erosion in their net worth, although they are hidden because only the USD value is being considered. I would say that after taking these factors in to consideration, the depreciation of the portfolio can be -10% per year or even higher.

Now let's examine the second part of their claim. According to JP Morgan, if Bitcoin comprises 1% of the portfolio, then the volatility can jump from 1% to 8%. Do you know how ridiculous this sounds? Let's assume that a company decides to keep 1% of its treasury portfolio in Bitcoin. Even in the unlikely scenario of Bitcoin becoming completely worthless, that would mean that the net worth of the portfolio decreasing to 99% from the existing 100%. Add in the volatility for the remaining 99% of the assets, and we get a figure of 1.99% per year and not 8%.

Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou and the other JP Morgan executives think that ordinary people are complete idiots and they will be able to fool them with their lies and deceit. I am afraid that it no longer works that way.

As Mark Twain once famously said: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics"

Here these people are trying to twist statistics to spread their own bunch of lies.
3  Bitcoin / Press / 2021-01-30 [CNBC] India might ban private cryptocurrencies like bitcoin on: February 01, 2021, 03:51:18 AM

The “Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill” moves “to create a facilitative framework for creation of the official digital currency to be issued by the Reserve Bank of India.”

Additionally, “the bill also seeks to prohibit all private cryptocurrencies in India, however, it allows for certain exceptions to promote the underlying technology of cryptocurrency and its uses.”

The logic is very simple. Bitcoin has become a victim of its own success. The ruling party now want to repeat their modus operandi, by banning these successful cryptocurrencies and then try to replace them with pre-mined shitcoins from the Adani/Ambani cartel. India has become the first country, where simple ownership of cryptocurrency is now a criminal offense. Violators are threatened with up to 10 years rigorous imprisonment.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Transaction fee has gone up by 10x during the last two weeks on: May 17, 2019, 05:30:16 AM
I have noticed that the transaction fee has gone up tremendously during the last two weeks. I am using wallet, and until two weeks back I was paying somewhere between 1-3 Satoshi per byte for my transactions. But now the default fee in has increased by more than 10 times, to around 40 Satoshis per byte. And I checked as well, and according to it, the fee needed for instant confirmation is around 220 Satoshi/byte.

I am not saying that at current levels this fee is unaffordable. But what if there is another 10x increase in the transaction fee? Are you willing to pay 2,000 Sat/byte for instant confirmations?

5  Other / Politics & Society / ISIS declares war against Myanmar in Rakhine state on: August 29, 2017, 01:49:20 AM

A militant group has warned of a "war" against the Myanmar Government, taking responsibility for attacks on police stations that have left more than 100 people dead. On Friday, militants from the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), which claims to be fighting for the rights of Rohingya people — a Muslim minority long-persecuted by Myanmar's Buddhist majority — attacked about 25 police posts in the country's west.

A new video posted on social media showed the group's leader Abu Ammar Jununi flanked by two masked men with assault rifles and saying the recent violence was in response to harassment from Myanmar's security forces and blockades of Rohingya villages.

This is the militant group which beheaded three Buddhist engineers in 2015. According to local news reports, the Bangladeshi army has started giving training for this group, to exterminate the Hindus and Buddhists in the area.

7  Other / Politics & Society / Major blow to the NATO wet dream, Russian gas exports at industrial record on: January 13, 2017, 06:21:03 AM
Natural gas exports from Russia to the European Union was measured at 179.3 billion cubic meters in 2016, the highest ever for a single year. This is a major blow to the Americans and the Arabs, who were attempting to sabotage the supplies. Also, this means increase in tax revenue for the Russian treasury.

8  Other / Politics & Society / Afghan criminals who gang-raped little boy granted residency in Sweden on: December 31, 2016, 03:02:18 AM
Five Afghan teenagers are convicted of gang-raping a boy at knife-point in Sweden - but NONE will be deported because their homeland is 'too dangerous'

Five Afghan teenagers have been convicted of gang-raping a boy in Sweden - but none of them will be deported because their homeland is 'too dangerous', it has emerged. The victim, who is under 15, was filmed during the attack, which happened in woodland in Uppsala, south east Sweden.
He was beaten and dragged out to the forest at knife-point before being subjected to an ordeal lasting more than an hour, prosecutors say. After a trial, the teenagers were found guilty of aggravated rape - but despite requests by prosecutors, they will not be expelled from Sweden because of their age and the dangers they would face in their homeland.

Welcome to the radical-feminist occupied multi-cultural paradise of Sweden. Muslims can rape or murder any native whenever they want. The criminals will receive no punishment, apart from a few hours of community service.
9  Other / Politics & Society / Communist candidate elcted as the mayor of Novosibirsk on: April 07, 2014, 04:44:45 PM
This is a real blow for Putin. People really got tired of all the Muslim mass-immigration unleashed by Putin and his friends on the Russian people. After Evgeny Roizman, it is Anatoly Lokot now.

10  Other / Politics & Society / Indian General Elections 2014 on: April 06, 2014, 01:27:56 PM
The Indian General Elections will start from tomorrow onward. I'd like to hear from the Indians (and non-Indians) about their views.

Here is the latest opinion poll:

Also, I'd like to hear about whether the next government will be pro-US or pro-Russia.
