1  Other / MultiBit / Recovering Multibit Wallet on: December 13, 2015, 06:09:15 PM
Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help me with this.  I've been using Multibit Classic for a long time.  A few days ago I had a transaction not go through because it was seen by only 1 peer.

So I reset the blockchain.  But it hasn't worked and it hasn't recovered any transactions, and it says it's synchronized.  But only one transaction from yesterday shows up and most of my balance isn't there.

So I'm wondering if that's normal and I just have to wait however long it takes the client to do the whole blockchain, or if there's another client that can import Multibit wallets.

2  Economy / Exchanges / Cryptsy Scamming? on: December 12, 2015, 01:02:14 PM
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem.  I have a cryptsy account, and didn't log in for a few months.  So they locked it, and now I have to exchange emails with admins to try unlocking the account.

I don't quite grasp why they would lock accounts except as a means of ripping off their customers, like that other exchange that ripped people off when they decided to stop carrying a coin and then didn't give anyone time to withdraw them.  And even if you did withdraw them in time, they never showed up.

I can't help but assume it's a scam.  Thankfully I've never put any significant amount on the site.

Suppose I'd bought 1 BTC worth of their mining contracts.  Then I decided to let those shares of the mining contracts earn for a few months.  Then when a few months goes by, I try to log into the site to find out they've locked my account because I didn't log in for a few months.

And even better, for some reason you can't provide your security answers on the website, you actually have to manually communicate with admins by email taking 24 hours or more for them to ask you one security question.

So if you don't remember your answers to your security questions the first time that admin asks you, you're screwed because you don't get a second chance at remembering your security answer.

Anyone else feel like cryptsy scammed them in some way?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / List of Virus Infected Altcoins on: May 20, 2014, 09:49:23 PM
Thought there should be a dedicated thread for this in case there isn't.  So far I've found three altcoins infected with viruses.  Please add to the thread so that members of the community don't end up losing our wallets or suffering damages to our computers.

1) University Coin

I ran it without a conf and never got a virus warning, once I ran it with the conf file I got a virus warning.

2) Arkenstone

I get a virus warning about the "arkenstoned.exe" file.  Wallet seems to run fine without the infected file, but I don't think I'll be mining or collecting these either.

3) Bones Coin

Ran it before today and never got a virus warning.  For some reason today I got the warning.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Declining Hashrates with VPS --- How can I fix it? on: April 30, 2014, 03:24:19 PM
Hey all.  I'm newbing it up still, and practicing with free trial VPS before I invest money into a mining rig.  The problem I keep having, is a declining hashrate.

Some of the VPS I set up were clocking 5k and more the first time I connected them.  I had to close the session to restart my computer, and when I reconnected my hashrate fell in half.  Then the next time I had to close the session and start again, it feel even more.  Now my best performing VPS that was at 5k+ is now averaging around 0.56k.  This has happened with all of the 14 VPS' I have running right now.

Can anyone tell me why this happens and how I can fix it?

Appreciate any help!
5  Bitcoin / Mining support / Help Please! Running Miner in the background (Windows) on: April 21, 2014, 06:05:17 PM
Hey all.  Was hoping someone could give me some advice on my question, still a bit of a noob.

I need to know how to setup BFGMiner to run in the background, ideally without any sign it's running, and not stop when I log off and another user logs on.

My laptop can't mine anything, but we have a shared computer in the house and every user has a login and password. I'd like to set it up so that it keeps running when I log off, stays running when nobody is logged on, and continues running when another user logs on.

If anyone could give me step-by-step instructions on how to use BFGMiner to do this, or GUIMiner, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptocurrencies added to StumbleUpon on: April 20, 2014, 07:11:58 PM
Hey all.

I put the following websites for cryptocurrencies into StumbleUpon over the last couple of weeks.

Listing them here in case anyone wants to vote them up.

Install Stumbleupon Button here: http://www.stumbleupon.com/

I put them under "Investing" for a category, pretty sure they can be moved to a more appropriate one as you vote them up.

Cheers!
