http://uptweet.com/viewStory?id=1257ATLANTA -- May 14, 2013 -- BitPay Inc, the world’s leading payment processor for bitcoin, announces it has hired Bitcoin core-developer Jeff Garzik. Jeff has been working part-time on Bitcoin for the past three years, contributing to the core Bitcoin protocol, while he worked full-time for Red Hat in North Carolina. The job at BitPay will allow him to work full-time on Bitcoin, BitPay, and related open-source projects to benefit the Bitcoin community.
“BitPay recognizes the need for more resources and developments in the core Bitcoin protocol, especially in the areas of scalability and reliability,” says Tony Gallippi, co-founder and CEO of BitPay. “We strongly encourage other Bitcoin companies to do the same, either through crowdfunding efforts or direct contracts, grants, or scholarships.”

http://uptweet.com/viewStory?id=1115All processing fees now 0.99% including settlement in any local currency we support.“We chose to celebrate this milestone by rewarding all merchants, large and small, with an across-the-board fee reduction, instead of offering tiered pricing which rewards only the largest merchants,” says Tony Gallippi, co-founder and CEO of BitPay. “We want our merchants to use this fee reduction to offer discounts and incentives to their customers for paying with bitcoin.”

full details here: http://blog.bitpay.com/2013/03/applying-late-transactions-to.htmlBitPay will manually apply the payments to the expired invoices and consider them paid in full. Merchants will receive the IPN after the payment is applied.
For this particular set of circumstances, BitPay will assume the 10% loss on these invoices so that the buyers, and our merchants, are not affected by the inconvenience of the online wallet service that experienced technical difficulties.

posted on our blog here: http://blog.bitpay.com/2013/03/bugs-and-forks.html- Customers that placed orders during the time of the network issues may have noticed that their transactions were not immediately recognized. These transactions will eventually get credited to those invoices and confirmed by the network.
- If you're a merchant, you may have received warnings about unconfirmed invoices, those invoices will eventually be confirmed and credited to your account.
- We've checked all payments into BitPay and at this point there are no instances where a transaction has failed to confirm due to this incident.
One of the benefits for merchants using Bitpay is that we worry about these issues so they don't have to.

http://www.itworld.com/it-management/347338/bitcoin-processor-links-web-shopping-carts-amazoncoms-shippingMany retailers who have their own web storefronts use Amazon's fulfillment service to tap the company's expertise in areas such as logistics and customs regulations, Gallippi said.
Once a bitcoin payment has been processed, the WooCommerce module sends Amazon the information it needs to ship a package using Amazon's API (application programming interface), such as the purchaser's address and the item's identification number.
BitPay is ahead of PayPal with the new module, Gallippi said. Merchants who take a PayPal payment with WooCommerce must then manually enter the information needed by Amazon to ship the product, he said.
BitPay, based in Atlanta, had some technical conversations with Amazon about how to implement the fulfillment API, but no commercial discussions, Gallippi said.

http://www.pymnts.com/briefing-room/PYMNTS-International/2013/02/How-Owning-Bitcoin-Is-Owning-An-ETF-On-The-Whole-Bitcoin-Space/Taking a step back to look at the whole Bitcoin picture, you need to travel back in time to 1994. This was the early days of the Internet. Just one year prior, in 1993, NCSA Mosaic launched as the first “web browser”, and the reactions varied wildly. Entrepreneurs saw the innovation and got to work, but investors didn’t have many options for viable investments. And there seemed to be an article every other day “the Internet is bad, the Internet is dangerous, the Internet is full of scams”.
Fast-forward 20 years to the present day, replace “the Internet” with “Bitcoin”, and read today’s news. “Bitcoin is bad, Bitcoin is dangerous, Bitcoin is full of scams” are basically the headlines you will find today. It’s the same articles from 20 years ago. They were wrong then, and they are wrong now.

http://blog.bitpay.com/2013/01/bitpay-adds-google-authenticator-seven.htmlThe new countries supported are:
Australia Belgium Denmark Norway New Zealand South Africa Sweden
The direct deposits are made every business day. BitPay's all-inclusive processing fee of 2.99% includes the guaranteed exchange rate, automated payment processing, currency conversion, and funds transfer. Note there is a minimum transfer amount of roughly $20, meaning if you have < $20 accumulated in your account, your balance will roll over to the next payday. At 2.99% this makes the minimum transfer fee roughly $0.60 on a $20 transfer.

New post is up, with a cool video from StompRomp! http://uptweet.com/viewStory?id=606StompRomp experiences a very common problem called payment fraud, because they sell a high ticket item. They, and other merchants, are pretty astute at screening for suspicious activity and payment fraud in their retail stores. They can check for photo ID, they can look at the condition of the card, and they can get a signature.
But when taking a payment over the internet, to try and reach customers outside of New Hampshire, they do not have the same abilities. And when taking a payment from a foreign country, the risk of fraud is 3-4 times higher than for domestic transactions.
