41  Economy / Trading Discussion / Anyone interested in selling BTC at inflated UK prices? on: November 21, 2013, 09:38:07 AM
Prices paid in the UK for Bitcoins by direct bank transfer seem to be extortionately high.

After the peak, on localbitcoins, I saw coins for sale at £590 and people buying coins at £550. At the same time they were available on mtGox for about $650 (£400) and on bitstamp for even less.

I waited a while and sold some bitcoins at £495, at the same time they were available on Bitstamp for $530 (£330).

It's difficult to buy bitcoins from the exchanges in the UK. Some banks block access and transfers from those that don't are slow and take 2-5 working days to complete.

So I was wondering if there was someone on here that is outside the UK and can simply buy coins on the exchanges quickly and easily, and would like to sell them in the UK?

PM me to work out the details.
42  Economy / Trading Discussion / GBP to Bitstamp on: November 20, 2013, 05:22:00 PM
I read that a SEPA transfer should be free of charge within the EU.

Just checked on my online banking with Halifax and it says the charge is £9.50.

Also, it gives me the option of transferring it in either GBP or Euro. Anyone have any experience of this and know which to use?
43  Economy / Speculation / On to the next bubble? on: November 20, 2013, 03:44:45 PM
After the first bubble there was the April 2013 bubble, caused by some mainstream attention most likely and a rush to get in before it was too late.

Then this bubble, likely caused by a rush to get into Bitcoin in China.

So the next bubble will come from?

Who's next to find out about Bitcoin and want in?

What will cause the next panic buying and spiraling price?
44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin in the UK - future looks bleak on: November 19, 2013, 04:12:10 PM

HMRC (the UK tax agency) have clumsily labelled Bitcoins as 'Single Purpose Vouchers'. This means that VAT is due on them.

Some of these responses also indicate glaring misunderstandings of what Bitcoin is, hilariously the Bank of England wrote back to tell me "There have been no meetings held at the BoE attended by Bitcoin".

45  Bitcoin / Mining / Reduction in return from CEX on: November 11, 2013, 11:38:13 AM
I bought a small amount of GH from CEX to try it out.

Last week, I was getting about 0.00039 - 0.0004 per block.

Right now I am getting closer to 0.00035 per block.

My GH hasn't been reduced and the difficulty hasn't gone up.

So why would that be? I thought that the payout would be fairly constant until the difficulty goes up?
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Whatever happened to Ripple? on: November 06, 2013, 05:35:08 PM
And why is it worth so few BTC any more?

It was down to 5,000 Ripple to 1 BTC at one point...now it's about 35,000
47  Economy / Invites & Accounts / [WTS] LoL - League of Legends account (Gold 4) S3 on: October 25, 2013, 11:39:33 PM
Selling my account. Totally fed up with this game and don't want to play it any more.

Approx 35 champs with a couple of skins. Reward for season 3 for gold league will be an additional victorious skin.

I think there are 6 rune pages on it too.

If there's any interest, then ill post up pictures and more info on exactly what champs it has.

48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How much is my 40k Ripple worth? on: June 10, 2013, 04:15:06 PM
So?

And what is the best way to exchange them now?
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Wallet security on: May 20, 2013, 08:14:19 AM
Can someone that understands how bitcoins work tell me this:

If I keep bitcoins in a multibit wallet and save the .wallet and .key file to my hard disk, are my bitcoins compromised if someone gains access to those 2 files?

So if I now create a new multibit wallet and send those bitcoins to that new address, are those same bitcoins still compromised if someone gains access to the old .wallet and .key files?
50  Economy / Service Discussion / UK Funding options on: April 23, 2013, 09:09:10 PM
Ok, I havent sold any BTC or even looked into it properly, but I have read it's difficult from the UK.

Just checked on MtGox and they offer this:

Withdrawals
Funds may be withdrawn by sending a Mt.Gox redeemable code (voucher) to AurumXchange Company and then wired to a bank account. You can also sell codes back to AurumXchange and receive payment through e-currencies, wire transfers in USD, SEPA EUR transfers, and direct bank transfers within the UK.

I have never heard of aurumxchange before but they let you cash out $5000 a day.

What's the catch?
51  Economy / Economics / btce and MtGox price differential on: April 23, 2013, 08:37:20 PM
BTCE trading at $124
MtGox at $139

Why aren't people in the US making loads of money from this?
52  Economy / Service Discussion / Localbitcoins on: April 10, 2013, 06:20:03 PM
Is this site for real?

You can buy via bank transfer for less than you can sell.

Why isnt everyone selling at £150 and buying at £130 on there and making loads of money?
53  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Multibit & Electrum on: April 04, 2013, 05:10:43 PM
Since these wallets use a remote server to handle the block chain, what happens if you keep your bitcoin in one of their wallets and the remote server gets shut down?

Can you transfer the bitcoins to another wallet - say Qt - without having to send them over the network?
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mainstream media on: April 04, 2013, 04:58:18 PM
Bitcoin was just discussed on national BBC radio in the UK.

The verdict: it's a speculative bubble.

It's also on the front page of the financial times in the UK.

Definitely gaining mainstream attention now.

I think people can expect a spike in demand within a few days of any mainstream publicity, as it takes people a few days to read and comprehend what BTC actually is.
55  Economy / Invites & Accounts / EUW - Lvl 30 - League of Legends accounts on: March 31, 2013, 10:30:02 PM
I have 2 x level 30 accounts for sale and will sell for Bitcoin.

Both level 30.

One is gold right now.

One is silver right now.

Both have most of the champions unlocked, and both have numerous rune pages pre filled with the usual runes.

The silver account has a number of skins (approx 8 I think - not including the usual free ones like Riot Tristana and Alistar etc).

The gold account only has the free skins such as Tristana, Alistar...

I will accept and I prefer payment in Bitcoin. Price is negotiable.

PM me if you want more details.
56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin & download speeds on: March 17, 2013, 10:52:12 AM
I live out in the middle of the country, so I have a really slow broadband connection, it is about 1.6 Mb which equals about 140 kb/s at the best of times.

I recently updated my PC with new version of Windows and downloaded the client again. Believe it or not, I have now had the client running for about 12 hours, and it still says over 41,000 blocks remaining and last block received was 273 days ago.

While it is running, it really slows down my internet speed, games lag and pages load slowly.

Why is this so slow?

How does Bitcoin ever expect to be useful in the mainstream if every time people with slow internet open their wallet, it takes hours and hours to update.
57  Economy / Speculation / When to sell? on: January 31, 2013, 04:38:20 PM
I mined 40 BTC over the last couple of years. It was from an Xfire pair of 5870's, though I havent been running them non stop for that time, I stopped mining a while back now when the difficulty got too high and the rewards got halved.

So with the price now reaching over $20 per BTC, im thinking do I either:

Sell now and take my $800?

Risk it and wait for a few months and maybe take $1000 or even a bit more?

Hold them for years, possibly 5-20 years and take the risk that by that time, they are worth in the hundreds of $$ each as people will then be using micro bitcoins or milli bitcoins. They could potentially be worth a lot by then. I suppose they could also be worth nothing by then.....

58  Economy / Trading Discussion / EpicNPC on: January 08, 2013, 03:32:03 PM
I am trying to buy a LoL account, and found a website where there are lots of them for sale:

http://www.epicnpc.com/

I PM'ed a lot of sellers and tried to buy one with BTC but none of them knew what it was. Most of them weren't interested as they thought it was a scam, or they simply couldnt be bothered to find out what BTC was. So I write this post with 2 points in mind:

(1) Someone with a lot of BTC should surely be pushing BTC into every site like this that they can find? Someone with a lot of BTC has the most to gain. The more people using BTC, the higher the value. I imagine that all it would take is speaking to the website owners and getting them to sticky posts advertising BTC with a simple explanation of what it is and how it works.
It would be very useful on a site like this selling digital goods where people are getting the chargeback scam with Paypal.

(2) There is no quick and easy link with a simple explanation of BTC. Well, there may be somewhere but I couldnt find one suitable when I was trying to explain to people what it was. It feels like if someone took BTC by the balls and really pushed it, it would take off, but there doesnt seem to be a central authority pushing it (which I suppose is part of what makes it Bitcoin).
59  Economy / Invites & Accounts / WTB League of Legends account on: November 04, 2012, 09:35:46 PM
Level 30, EUW

No bothered about skins, just level 30.
60  Bitcoin / Mining support / BTC mining rate on: August 24, 2012, 05:56:44 PM
Can anyone tell me why the mining calculators tell me that I should be mining about 0.32 BTC per day at approx 700 MHash, yet with Deepbit, I am only mining approx 0.24 BTC per day?

That is 75% of what it should be at current difficulty, so it is too much of a difference for it to be fees.

Not sure if it makes a difference, but im mining on Deepbit with 2 cards running at the same time within the same GUI miner client.
