Ethereum investors who think ETH marketcap will soon overtake Bitcoin should learn about RSK and stop praying on Vitalik! Rootstock (rsk.co) is smart contract platform, compatible with Ethereum, but uses 2-way peg to Bitcoin and offers better scalability. It already has working testnet, which now available on easy to use MyEtherWallet. I think main net will be launched this year.

Kim Jong Un can secretly deploy agents with bombs in the US and threat to explode buildings owned by Trump. I don't think Trump will risk all his wealth in favor of political ambitions.

If a government employee being caught taking bribe or embezzling funds from the budget, even single time, remove presumption of innocence from all his assets (house, land, car, jewelry, bank account etc) and require him to prove source of the income from which he had acquired these assets. If he cannot prove legality of his incomes, confiscate ALL properties belonging to him or transferred to his relatives after investigation started.
For many corruptioners prison time is nothing! After serving few years he can start living like a millionaire having money he stole.

I think most of the Swiss voters just understand that unconditional income will lead to degradation of the majority population. It is a human nature - drinking, taking drugs, having multiple sexual partners, playing computer games and casino, consuming entertaining products like movies and music etc. There is no reason why people who get UBI will spent free time on useful tasks like creativity or science research. May be 1% will, but 99% certainly not, so streets of the Bern and Geneva will be flooded with used syringes and condoms, and not art masterpieces.
Smart solution to the technological unemployment will be conditional income like Public Works Administration in 1930's. Pay people for useful activities - raising children, education, science, creating arts, caring disable people etc.

The idea is to strip-off citizenship from the convicted felon instead of putting him in prison. Government of his home country can sign a contract with one of the poorest states in the world (Burundi, Malawi, Liberia etc), so in exchange for some monetary compensation the poor country would grant him a citizenship, then his home country will revoke his nationality and expel convict to the poor state.
Compensation for the poor country will be order of magnitude lower than costs keeping him in prison, but deterring effect much stronger than prison time because most people would choose to spend some time in US or EU prison instead of spending rest of life in Sub-Saharan Africa!

It's obvious that investments in human capital (education & healthcare) are essential for every country to prosper. However, this type of investment probably is the most unprotected nowadays. In many countries (especially in Europe) education and healthcare are free of charge and funded through taxes, collected from entire population. But there is a catch - many people receive these goods for free, then leave home country, seeking higher salary in another place. For EU citizens its extremely easy (no need for a visa or work permit, just to buy an airplane ticket) and poorer countries suffer from this problem the most (e.g. Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Romania, Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal). Rich countries like Germany, UK and Sweden benefit from this situation receiving large crowd of educated, healthy, young people.
I guess that many people on this forum oppose any freedom restrictions, but let be honest - people who leave homeland for a higher salary right after receiving free higher education and having good health conditions thanks to free healthcare are leeches, who parasite on other taxpayers remaining in the country.
Proposed solution could be introducing exit visas (permits to leave the country) which will be issued only after a potential expat signs an agreement to repay all costs the state have spent on his education and healthcare or makes some achievement that significantly benefit the county (e.g. an important invention and donates patent to the state). This measure will significantly improve education and healthcare system's funding and make it more affordable and better quality.

Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras just announced referendum to ask people about proposed IMF/ECB bailout conditions. If majority of the people will vote for, austerity measures will be implemented (pension cuts, tax increases, layoffs, privatization etc). Otherwise Greece have to default and most likely to leave Eurozone and/or European Union altogether.

I cannot explain why difficulty started rising recently while BTC/$ price fallen sharply! It looks very strange...
|
|

I don't think BTC/$ will fall a lot below $400 simply because miners will stop selling coins below cost of production. Miners currently provide large percentage of the bitcoins sold on exchanges.

Was there any fundamental reason why Bitcoin crashed today from $680 to $620-630?

Besides the network effect, there are another things that altcoin proponents ignore. Bitcoin has the strongest team of developers among all cryptocurrencies, as well as security vulnerabilities being fixed at first on Bitcoin (Litecoin/Peercoin/Dogecoin/etc will receive them much later). Recent OpenSSL issue is good example: Bitcoin is already fixed, Litecoin and others still vulnerable.
Forks can offer some nice features, but when it comes to the security (and a chance to lose all your coins due to unfixed bug), large investors will make appropriate conclusions IMHO.

I remember when Silk Road was closed BTC price plummeted sharply but then restored quickly and started new growth cycle. This time might be the same. MtGox generated mostly negative news background so damaged Bitcoin reputation, therefore I think now BTC price will be freed from this deterrent factor and can reach new all-time high soon!

Just think Bitcoin would be a tech startup which issues shares (1 BTC = 1 share). Current market cap ~$10B is just a pittance comparing to the other tech corporations (Apple, Microsoft, Intel, IBM) and its growth potential is at least up to 100 billion IMHO.
