84  Other / Off-topic / Acronym Game on: January 02, 2012, 07:53:56 AM
Acronym Game

Think of several random letters that the next person has to turn into an acronym, and then add your acronym that the next person will create a phrase for.

For example, MDICI could be... Madly Do I Crave Intimacy.

Post 4-5 letters should be ok.

I'll start with:

GHAWT

89  Economy / Currency exchange / Beware of Mt. Gox Phishing Email on: December 25, 2011, 04:15:05 PM
Hey guys just a heads up I just got an email (in my spam box) from a scammer trying to steal info from Mt. Gox users.  It sucks that whoever sent the email has... my email address... The URL looks like it says HTTPS but when you mouseover it, it's actually HTTP to some mtgix.tk server, total tricky basturds!

Be careful out there bitcoiners!

90  Economy / Services / [HIRING] Web developer for several projects. on: December 23, 2011, 05:54:39 PM
Hey guys!  I have a bunch of ideas that I need put into motion.  I'm pretty good at making websites, I have a basic understanding of PHP and CSS and I'm well-versed in HTML, but I think this is outside my skill range.  I'm at home 24/7 so I'll be here to help along the way and do as much work as possible.  I've explained my ideas to about 4 developers and for some reason they just stop contacting me after I explain what I want to do.  I don't know what to think of that but I'm determined to set this up and time's 'a wastin'.

Basically...  I'm a hardware kind of guy.  I just keep buying computers and servers and have come to realize that I can put these beasts to work for me.  I have a gorgeous 42U rack (with sides/plexi doors) in my bedroom and it would be fully populated with servers if I put them all inside it, right now things are sort of scattered around.  I have probably a dozen server-ready computers including two 4U HP ProLiant dual-cpu bad boys and my custom-made 4U fileserver, "Ghost."  Right now Ghost has twenty 2TB drives and has 40TB (40,000GB) in JBOD.  We also have several other computers with massive filestorage capabilities, like "Vader" has about 15TB.  We literally have a drawer FULL of extra drives, and including the ones I need to RMA, about 80TB in total.  Check out some pictures of Ghost I took back in 2009.

My goal here is to start a cloud storage, FTP hosting, VPS, dedicated server, and gaming server company.  I also have a dozen other ideas, but we'll proceed one idea at a time.  I don't want to go too deep into the "ideas" that I have but if you have the knowhow to set up a VPS or web hosting company PLEASE contact me.  I will be getting a 100 megabit line (250 megabit if possible, same price but not available in all areas).

If this interests anyone don't hesitate to PM me!!

Looking to buy 1 or more Radeon Eyefinity-6 cards.  Also interested in normal 5870s as long as they are reference coolers, as well as 5970s and 6990s but that's a bit rich for my pocketbook at the moment.

Must have some sort of reputation or feedback, preferably heatware.

Please include your asking price including shipping to Canada, postal code R0E0R0 and the condition of the card.

97  Economy / Services / Earn BTC while you browse Bitcointalk forum! on: August 10, 2011, 06:22:50 AM
I'm starting a new way for people to earn BTC while they chat about on bitcointalk.  Essentially, you will earn BTC based on how many people you refer to Bit-Coin-Trading.com using the referral ID in your profile.  By putting a Bit-Coin-Trading.com banner in your bitcointalk signature and link it to your Bit-Coin-Trading.com referral ID, you will generate BTC based on how many people you have referred.  You can cash out at any time and still keep earning.

This is what you will need to do.

1) Sign up at Bit-Coin-Trading.com, it's free.

2) Click on your profile on Bit-Coin-Trading.com, you will see a referral URL.

3) Put that link in your signature on your bitcointalk profile, either using text or taking a pre-made banner and linking it to your URL.

That's all you have to do!  Now when people browse bitcointalk, people may randomly click the link to check it out!  Or you can put the referral URL anywhere you want, on other forums or web sites that you use, and you can hotlink to my images (we have unlimited bandwidth).

The current BTC payout rate and all the payouts will be listed here.

I suppose I should go over some of the benefits of using Bit-Coin-Trading.com:

  • Feedback System in place so people can give feedback points to each other so you can see who is a reputable trader.
  • Twitter Robot sends 100% of forum topics to over 1100 twitter followers (and all of #bitcoin will see).  Also, we have a weekly Paper.li that collects the whole weeks worth of Bit-Coin-Trading and publishes it into a newspaper.  Also, if you 'bump' your thread, it gets sent back out to the twitter world again.
  • Safe Trading Tips to give you advice for trading online and to alert you of scams and bad traders.
  • Local trading categories created for every Canadian province and US state, in case you have something for sale and you can't ship it.  I will create additional local categories if need be.
  • Bitcoin Software is hosted on our site.  Need the bitcoin client?  Need GUI miner or Phoenix?  Just come here and avoid navigating other sites.  All software is hosted on our site.
  • Mt GOX Ticker Bar keeps you updated with current market price, difficulty, #  of coins distributed, and more.
  • Funny Pictures Library in an easy to navigate menu, with slideshow.

Here are some banners you can use.  You can also make your own!

98  Economy / Lending / [loan] declaration #2 on: August 10, 2011, 03:14:16 AM
senbonzakura has agreed to loan me 5 BTC to be paid back on saturday.  I'm currently mining at around 3.3 GH/s so it will only take a few days to pay back, this will just enable me to buy a card today.

I have previously loaned 5 BTC and paid him back, I use these loans as a boost to get a video card faster.
99  Economy / Goods / FS: Lots of watercooling gear on: August 03, 2011, 02:53:50 PM
I have a bunch of H2O stuff I'm not using.

There's still a heater core (2x120mm) rad I have to find and another swiftech GPU block somewhere, but there's a Swiftech GTZ, a Swiftech CPU block and two swiftech GPU blocks here right now.  Not sure on the model numbers.  I'm not sure how to tell what the model number is on the 2x120mm radiator, either, although it looks like a very good one.  All this stuff was given to me in trade about a year or so ago.  I can guarantee that the two pumps work perfectly, the big daddy is an Eheim 1060 and the 12v pump is an MCP655.  I have like a whole box full of hoses and connectors and there's a bottle of UV dye.

Basically take a look at the photos and let me know if you're interested in.  Looking to get bitcoin or trade for a good radeon card or two.  Let me know what you want better photos of, and if you want a picture of the box of connectors and fittings.  The battery was dying so I figured it was a good idea to post the photos while I find more batteries.

so i'm looking at around $350ish for it all, OBO.  Prefer bitcoin as payment.  But I'd really like to trade this all straight up for a good radeon card.  If you have a 5870 with eyefinity-6 connectors, that's a done dealio right there.

My heatware is n1ce_hat.
