So as the saying goes.  The more eyes on the code the safer it is.  Well that’s no longer true. When complacency happens all hell breaks loose.  Watch your asses folks.

I’m sure this will have some serious fallout to come.  Ohh boy!

I just noticed but for the longest time they weren't reporting anything after the new year.  Boy have we seen some epic jumps. Nothing as big in percentage but in hash is incredible amounts. Glad to see them back online.

hundreds of petahash being added per diff change.

4  Bitcoin / Pools / Mining Pool payout Transparency. 😀 on: December 26, 2017, 02:27:27 PM
In an effort to show a bit of transparency regarding pool payouts and what you actually make with the different schemes pools like to come up with.  I stumbled on this site and thought I’d share.  In order to help decentralization ideally it would be nice if all pools paid the same on avg.  looking here we can see that some pools are just robbing it’s users blind.  https://poolprofit.io/en/

Hopefully a little transparency will go a long way.

5  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Network Hashrate Growing at .05% per day!!! 5k s9's on: December 26, 2017, 05:02:58 AM
So for fun i did the math today.  At 14 exahash if we add .05% each day that equates to over 5000  s9 added to network per day ?. Correct me if i am wrong.   This is amazing and explains the crazy increase in price along with the upswing in this graph.  http://bitcoin.sipa.be/    Even with the backup in transactions it looks like security will continue to increase as more continue to mine.. I have no doubts that scaling will be addressed this year.   Better to get it right the first time.  Look at what the alts do right as the test bed and implement the best features into btc.  Thats how i see it going down some time in the future. BTC will always remain the OG of crypto.   Anyway for those wondering why bitmain raise price.. well supply and demand.. also they expect another crazy jump in price soon.  Going to be a great 2018  Grin.

also look at correlation to this graph set at 1 wk time frame.  https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/bitstamp/btcusd
Merry Christmas Everyone  And Happy New Year!

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / SOLVED...Is there something going on with network hashrate or maybe tech glitch on: November 18, 2017, 12:17:16 PM
So I use this app called zeroblock.  I’ve been using it for years to monitor the real-time hashrate of btc.  This morning I Check and to my amazement it’s showing 2 min block times and 135 exahash added to network.  Need to wake up a bit more and do some research.  If this is true it’s game over for us little folk.

Anyone else noticing anything strange

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / converting old wiibox a1 btc miner into a 6 gpu rig (WIP) on: April 07, 2017, 02:07:52 PM
well i took the time to tell the story on the pics thru imgur.  dont have a lot of time today to mess with this.. Will get back to it tomorrow.  Just thought id share what ive got going on so far.  Turns out its working really darn well.  Thanks for taking the time to check it out.  Ive got over 20 of these A1 cases plus i have 40 of the gridseed a1 litecoin miners.. i might start parting with them.  If i dont use them up myself Tongue(wishful thinking)  Anyway check it out.. This is def going to keep my rigs cool in summer.. Or at least help a bunch.  lot less power consumption than using big fans blowing at my rigs.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / MSI Gaming 5 MOBO. Issues with "killer e2200" onboard lan controller on: March 28, 2017, 01:13:50 AM
Hello community.

Just wanted to share the experience i have had over the last week.  I have literally gained more grey hair with this mobo.. I have 3 of these i bought back in october 2016.  Used two of them to build rigs and one for just in case.  It sat in the box till last week.  I installed everything normally.. win 10 msi drivers from the disk etc.  Upon plugging in the video cards i started to see erratic behavior.  So i thought at first it was the psu.  So i changed that. No good.  Ive got 2 powercolor 480 2 sapphire 480 and 2 xfx.  (only because i had a two card buy limit from the sites i ordered from. Roll Eyes )  So i started isolation the cards. Started with one set and booted only for it to freeze up upon loading zec miner.  Tried all three sets of two to no avail.  So i bought 6 new risers ver 6 just to be certain i didnt have some flakey ver 3.  Still same behavior..  So i reset windows 10 from the system menu and reloaded the drivers from msi for the mobo.  Same problems as before. Only this time i had a weird issue with the network controller . It locked up my switch and rendered everything on the network unreachable.   Btc miners started beeping etc.  Soon as i unplugged this pc from the network.. Voila all was well again.> So now im really scratching my head.  So i decided today to try and look up why that could of happened and low and behold i find an article talking about just this with the network controller.  BSOD erratic system shutdowns, you name it was doing it to me.  So upon more research i found out that the drivers for the "KIller Ethernet controller causes severe system instability.. WEll crap wish i would of thought of this a week ago.   Ive never had such isssue with any other rig.. Tried all the usual stuff and nothing.  I was ready to return the board to msi as i wasnt about to buy another since they are gouging us on price. I paid 100 dollars for mine.. now they are pushing 400.. i think msi figured out what we using these for lol.. anyway. just wanted to share the resources with you in case you have such a problem with this board.  Sure had me stumped for a long time.  https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/guide-turn-your-killer-e2200-nic-into-qualcomm-atheros-ar8161.198899/  that site is the howto on fixing the issue.  Which worked for me Cheesy  next is the forom where i located this info.  6th post from top page 3  https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=178063.14

They sure picked an interesting name for this controller.  it def is a "killer'  sytem killer!!!!

Excited that the network is growing along with the price but as a miner im being pushed out Sad.. So I think my plan now is to buy coins.. With the price seeming to follow diff.. and the halving coming faster and faster.. i feel like a push in price is inevitable.  I think at the rate of network hash increase you could profit much better buying coins now than any mining machine can do.. most orders are preorders and i think that is for a good reason.. It will increase 10 - 20 % in diff by time you get miner thus allowing manufactures to bank.. Just my thoughts anyway..

10  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Network just jumped up 100 petahashes!!! on: September 10, 2015, 12:09:52 PM
so we have been at approx 400 peta for quite some time.. topping out at 420 at times.. Now we are at over 500 peta in a matter of a day.. This is either bitfury new chips or this is the effect of bitmain announcing selliing of new hw and the other manufacturers are going to keep up.. Here comes the big asic fight between the manufacturers.. Not sure if this is the best time to buy coins or just sit back and watch what unfolds. What does the community think of the 100 peta jump?

I cant remember the previous blocks this happened on.  Looking at block https://blockchain.info/block-index/441880/00000000000000000eef6ea3ee2d6bb263605f916df16fb4b36a1518df593428 and block https://blockchain.info/block-index/441881/00000000000000003ebb1d77027d7b18bc9fb033f29aa552d6cf7ee0a8cf692b  im trying to figure out how 308476 came before 308475.  in looking at the times 76 was 35 minutes ago and 75 was 29 minutes ago how can 76 be found 5 minutes before 75?Huh Im relatively new to crypto so a little understanding how this can happen please...Thanks
