21  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Zanimljivo istraživanje o Satoshiju on: July 24, 2020, 10:34:44 AM

22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Visa supports CBDC government cryptocurrencies on: July 09, 2020, 08:08:55 AM
Very interesting news from Cuy Sheffield, head of Visa’s crypto development department.
The director of Visa’s crypto department stressed that CBDCs (government cryptocurrencies) are the most important payment trend of this decade.
''These types of cryptocurrencies have significant implications for privacy, monetary sovereignty, geopolitics and financial inclusion''
''Earlier this year, VISA filed a patent application that is directly related to cryptocurrencies and blockchain.''

Visa seems to have recognized crypto as a new financial opportunity and they are ready to move in that direction. What do you think about that?

23  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Visa podupire CBDC državne kriptovalute on: July 09, 2020, 08:00:29 AM

Prenosim tekst s njihove FB stranice: https://www.facebook.com/bitcoinmjenjacnica.hr/

''Bitcoin mjenjačnica
1 h ·

26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / JPMorgan Says Bitcoin Crash Survival Shows It Has Staying Power on: June 21, 2020, 12:59:41 PM
JP Morgan's strategists, Joshua Younger and Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou claim that during the crisis in March, bitcoin successfully passed its first real "stress test"  Grin Grin
They also argue that Bitcoin rarely deviates from its intrinsic value or mining costs in the last few months and so shows its resilience.
They say the market structure of BTC was “more resilient” than forex, stocks and gold  Grin Grin
"Cryptocurrencies largely survived the shooting range in March, indicating the longevity potential of this asset class," they added, "but price action indicates their continued use more as a means of investment than as a means of exchange or trade in value."
From this report, it seems that classic investors are increasingly falling in love with bitcoin.
What do you think about that?

27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Coinbase Called Out on Twitter for Working with IRS and DEA on: June 11, 2020, 11:18:19 AM
I just came across this shocking news:
A recent Tweet by Samson Mow (@Excellion) suggested that Coinbase isn’t a safe place to store Bitcoin. Specifically, Mow suggested that the company would be the first to comply with a 1933-style confiscation demand by the federal government.
I think Coinbase is no longer a good place to hold bitcoin.
What do you think?
I am really disappointed with this development and I hope others will not follow the example of Coinbase.

28  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Surađuje li Coinbase s DEA-om i IRS-om? on: June 11, 2020, 11:12:24 AM
29  Economy / Gambling discussion / European Football Championships in the age of the corona on: April 28, 2020, 02:59:13 PM
I haven't found any suitable place for this information, so I'm opening a new theme  Grin
I just came across this information: French football championship cancelled
Source Croatian online portal: https://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/otkazano-je-francusko-prvenstvo/2178781.aspx
The French government decided today to postpone all sports competitions in France until August, including football.
When football finally returns, the new season will be played.
France became the third country to cancel the football season, after Belgium and The Netherlands.
It is rumoured that the next country to cancel the football season will be Scotland.

30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Does Libra still pose a threat to Bitcoin? on: April 16, 2020, 03:54:21 PM
Croatian bitcoin portal published a very interesting thinking by academics and economist John Vraz on this topic.
Source: https://crobitcoin.com/predstavlja-li-libra-i-dalje-prijetnju-bitcoinu/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=news
Vraz believes that LIbra will become a very serious competitor to bitcoin.
He believes bitcoin has problems as a means of payment and that bitcoin is disproportionately used as a speculative instrument.
in contrast, Libra was built with the intention of scaling as a payment net.
Vraz: ''The differentiation of the assets on which libre stability is based is a key factor for the performance of the currency''.
FB has a large user base and therefore a large initial range.
Vraz: ''Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies threaten to undermine banks' control over cash supply. This deprives them of the ability to create imaginary leverage in the economy, because in assets like Bitcoin, money cannot be created without cover''.

"Banks can borrow "same" money up to maybe eight or nine times in the partial reserve banking system. Thus, a lot of banks are creating a massive offer of money in the system of fractional reserves. With Bitcoin, you can't borrowing what you don't have.

Very interesting thoughts from Mr. Vraz. What do you think of his ideas?
Do you think Libra will be a serious threat and competition for bitcoin?

32  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Nova posebna ponuda tjedna za nove članove on: March 10, 2020, 11:39:56 AM

33  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Posebna ponuda tjedna on: February 11, 2020, 02:11:20 PM

34  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Kripto hedge fondovi povećali profitabilnost on: February 08, 2020, 02:33:42 PM
Vrlo zanimljiv članak sa Hrvatskog bitcoin portala:
https://crobitcoin.com/kripto-hedge-fondovi-povecali-profitabilnost-kroz-2019-tu/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=news

35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Who holds the most bitcoins? on: December 20, 2019, 07:49:38 PM
I've always been interested in this question, but I found a lot of confusing information.
I recently came across this article in Quora, and I wonder how accurate and verified this information is: https://www.quora.com/Who-holds-the-most-bitcoins
According to this article, it seems that Satoshi holds the most bitcoins, between 600,000 and 1,600,000 BTC.
The following are the Winklevoss brothers, with 91,666 bitcoin.
Next is Barry Silbert with 48,000 BTC.
Next in order are Tim Draper with $250,000 worth of BTC and Michael Novogratz with his crypto net worth to be around $700 million – $1 billion.
Do you agree with this assessment from the article or do you have more credible and accurate information?
36  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Njemačka banka: Kriptovalute će do 2030. godine zamijeniti fiat novac on: December 20, 2019, 07:37:16 PM
37  Other / Beginners & Help / [MERIT GIVEAWAY] Open to Newbies and jr members on: November 10, 2019, 02:44:40 PM
For some time now I have been reading and watching new members struggle to earn merit and progress in this forum.
It seems to me that the older members were more fortunate in this regard and did not have to fight so much for higher ranks in the forum.
In any case, I would like to give support to brand new members who have just registered in this forum and do not yet have the knowledge and experience about bitcoin or crypto to write very good quality posts.
So, please try to do some research about any topic connected with btc or crypto and write post on the forum, in the correct category.
After that, report your post here, share link from the post.
I don't have much available merits but I can promise now to reward 3 the best posts, by personal criteria, with merit.
All reported posts should be in English and please only publish the link, not the whole post.
The merit contest is open from now and will last for a week or two until enough quality submissions are collected.
38  Other / Politics & Society / Is Macron the new European leader? on: November 10, 2019, 02:00:00 PM
French President Macron recently gave a very shocking interview to the Economist newspaper.
Source: https://www.economist.com/europe/2019/11/07/emmanuel-macron-warns-europe-nato-is-becoming-brain-dead
Some of his most shocking statements:

“What we are currently experiencing is the brain death of NATO,”
Europe stands on “the edge of a precipice”, he says, and needs to start thinking of itself strategically as a geopolitical power; otherwise we will “no longer be in control of our destiny.
He was asked whether he believed in the effectiveness of Article Five, the idea that if one NATO member is attacked all would come to its aid, which many analysts think underpins the alliance's deterrent effect. “I don't know,” he replies, “but what will Article Five mean tomorrow?”

What is the reason for such statements and some other actions by Macron as the recent refusal to allow Northern Macedonia and Albania to become official candidates for EU accession?
Does Macron think that after the departure of Merkel, he should naturally become the new leader of Europe?
Does he want to show strength that nothing can be resolved without France?
Is Macron at all capable of taking on the role of leader of a new Europe, especially because of his blockade of Macedonia and Albania, for what the EU has lost a lot on its credibility and appeal?
What do you think?

39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin and tax in your countries on: November 10, 2019, 01:46:12 PM
I would like to hear about the situation with bitcoin and taxes in your countries.
I think it would be interesting to hear different experiences and compare results across countries.
Of course, I understand that in some countries you can't declare bitcoin tax.
I'm not interested in these countries but the ones where it is possible to declare and pay bitcoin tax.
I will start first.
In Croatia, several years ago we received clear instructions from the tax office on how to file a bitcoin tax.
In short, we must lead FIFO and if we can prove that we held btc funds more than 2 years, than we don't need to pay tax (long term investment).
If we have kept btc funds for less than 2 years, we pay 12 % tax plus surtax.
Can you share situation in your country?
40  Other / Meta / Criterion for selecting a moderator for the local section on: November 10, 2019, 01:31:24 PM
I've been thinking about this for a while because it seems to me that there are no clear criteria for why some local sections have a moderator and some don't.
It would be logical that the main criterion is the level of activity in the local forum, but it does not seem to be the case.
For example, Romanian section with 44184 Posts and 5055 Topics or Polish with 29528 Posts and 2500 Topics or even Japanese with 39912 Posts and 1108 Topics have local moderator but Croatian section with 40494 Posts and 1739 Topics or Indian with 72876 Posts and 9077 Topics or Nederlands (Dutch) with 47326 Posts and 5051 Topics don't have local moderator.
I see a lot of illogicality here so I would like to hear the thoughts of community members whether other countries should get their local moderators to?
What do you think?
As ''old'' member on this forum I remember that my local community, Croatian, had local moderator in the past so if we could have local moderator before, when we had less members and activity than now, I don't see the reason why we can't get moderator again.
