As previously reported, on June 9, El Salvador’s Congress finally voted to pass the proposal of “using Bitcoin as legal tender” submitted by President Buckler. In September, the proposal will take effect. In an interview on Wednesday, Buckler said that the move will boost employment and the economy, and reduce El Salvador’s dependence on the current legal tender, the U.S. dollar.
