2  Economy / Collectibles / [WTB] Fiat currencies from around the world on: July 26, 2021, 08:36:56 AM
Knowing that some countries banknotes have become pretty much worthless (like the Bolivar), I'm curious to know if anyone is selling banknotes of them?

It would be pretty cool if I could start collecting banknotes from around the world, and I guess buying them as collectors items with Bitcoin would be pretty cool  Cool
3  Economy / Goods / I'll 3D Print anything for you, just pay shipping! on: July 19, 2021, 08:04:42 AM
Hey everyone,

Recently I purchased an Ender 3 V2 3D Printer (link to the store)
I've also got a few roles of PLA filament (the plastic the machine uses to print objects)

You can browse websites like thingiverse to find cool stuff you might want to print, and if you find something you might want, just PM me here on BitcoinTalk or in the replies of this post and I'll print and send the object to you! You just pay shipping (in Bitcoin preferably, lightning accepted), I will print the object completely free of charge.

There's not really any main reason I'm doing this other than a way to get pay the shipping company in fiat and get Bitcoin instead.. and just because I feel like it  Grin
4  Other / Meta / Where's the new forum Theymos? on: July 11, 2021, 02:07:21 AM
Back in 2013, user "Matthew N. Wright" created this thread.

12 months ago I donated 10 BTC to you to make a new forum. You have since then collected over 6000 BTC and continue to collect on a regular basis, under the guise of "creating a new forum", yet you have yet to create a new forum.

Please present a status report of your progress in the past 12 months with creating the forum. Thanks.

In 2015, user "JarvisTechnology" created this thread. According to it, it was meant to come in February 2015.

I'm not complaining. Just would like to know when to expect the new forum. I understand that you have problaby run into issues and are in the process of adding new features.

Is it going to be this year or maybe early next year?

User "From Above" creates this thread.

i know ETA cant really be provided, but theymos, let us know buddy!

will it come this year (2015) or how likely is that?
or rather next year?

ThX

Timeline (as far as I can see)
~June 2012: User "Matthew N. Wright" donates 10 BTC for the development of the new forum
June 17th, 2013: User "Matthew N. Wright" asks about that development of the new forum, mentions his 10 BTC donation and also asks for a status report regarding the last 12 months of development. link
May 2015: User "JarvisTechnology" asks about the progress development and understands that theymos could have run into some issues. JarvisTechnology asks when the new forum will come. link
May 2015: User "From Above" asks for an ETA for the new forum. No reply. link
October 2017: The question arises again, by user "thefreshprinceofbell" link

Am I completely missing something? Are we no longer working on the new forum? It's been like 9 years...
If this is meant to be the beta, it doesn't even load for me: http://beta.bitcointalk.org
5  Other / Meta / Why do we still have options for MSN, YIM etc? on: July 07, 2021, 12:46:19 AM
On the forum profile information page, there are still spaces to write down your contact details for sites like ICQ, AIM, MSN & YIM..
MSN was discontinued 8 years ago now.. Why is it still an option? Yahoo Instant Messenger also shut down 3 years ago now..

Why can't we replace it with something more useful and modern like Telegram, Discord or LinkedIn??
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What will scrypt earnings look like after the L7 is released? on: July 06, 2021, 05:47:44 AM
So, in November this year (2021) Bitmain is releasing a new AntMiner called the AntMiner L7.

This thing costs $12,800 USD, runs at 9.5 Gh/s (9,500 Mh/s), only uses 3425 kWh of power & is around 16.5 kgs heavy.

To put that in perspective, it uses as much power as 4.28 AntMiner L3+ units, and produces as much hashing power as 18.8 AntMiner L3+ units.

Does anyone know how this will affect the scrypt mining scene?
Will this make the L3+ earn almost nothing or even cost more power than they make?
I have no idea what would happen, just want input from some others Smiley
7  Bitcoin / Mining / Best marketplaces for used Antminers? on: July 05, 2021, 12:42:17 PM
Hey all!

Does anyone know the best markets to buy used Antminers?
I've already tried BitcoinTalk, EBay, Amazon, AliBaba, AliExpress, TradeMe (the local marketplace in my country) and some Asian ones.
All of them are either full of scammers or the prices are just ridiculously high.

Does anyone have any others that I possibly haven't tried yet?
