1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Products or Services You Would MOST Desire to Acquire with Bitcoins? on: July 21, 2011, 02:15:21 AM
What are the products and services people would most like to see available for bitcoins?
(Besides Drug Purchases, Prostitution, Assassins for Hire, Paid DDS Attacks, Kiddieporn & Money Laundering Services) Cheesy

What do people here spend most of their money online for? What is most important to you?

If I left out some options, feel free to post them here in the thread.

2  Other / Beginners & Help / A Problem with Bitcoins and Merchants ?? Only Good for Digital Goods & Services? on: July 20, 2011, 06:34:38 PM
Can anyone here please explain this to me.

If I am a merchant and I accept bitcoins for payment of a tangible good to be delivered via mail, and I mail it out to the customer and he claims he does not want the item afterall (simple return) can I refund the person's money in bitcoins if the value keeps changing all the time?

Say I take his 10 bitcoins for $150 value in product. Two weeks later, when I go to refund him, the value of bitcoin is $10, and not $15 anymore. If I refund him the 10 coins, I lose $50 in value.

How can Merchants avoid this?

If this dilemma cannot be solved efficiently, then maybe Bitcoins are really better suited for Online services and Digital goods? Or perhaps items that cannot be returned.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Isn't this the single biggest hindrance keeping Merchants from accepting bitcoins?

3  Other / Beginners & Help / Do You Expect Bitcoins to Replace Currencies or Compete Alongside Them? on: July 20, 2011, 06:24:03 PM
Personally, I do not ever see bitcoins replacing currencies. I see Bitcoins as a competing Currency like Gold or Silver, but not tangible, of course.

What do you folks think? Huh
4  Other / Beginners & Help / WP Plug-in for E-Commerce Needed. Converts dollar price to bitcoin at checkout on: July 12, 2011, 06:01:16 AM
Hello everyone,
I'm putting a site together that will sell things in bitcoin only, but none of the extensions or plugins or software so far available will do what I need it to.
I need the final checkout to convert the dollar value of the purchase to bitcoin, and then allow the user to send the payment over to make the purchase.
The final value changed from dollar to bitcoin has to be done at the current bitcoin value according to a selected API from either tradehill or my gox at the time of the purchase. The user could be given 30 minutes to complete the purchase and checkout or the quoted checkout price will delete.

I would prefer to do the site in wordpress, but it's not 100% necessary. I have not selected a shopping cart program or plug in just yet. I figure this will give the developer more flexibility, as the solution i'm looking for can either be an extension or plug in for wordpress or some tweak of a script written for a great shopping cart / storefront solution. My preference, once again, though, is to use wordpress as the main theme, then add an e-commerce plug in and have someone either tweak one of those, or write a whole new plug in for this.

If you are interested in helping out with this, my current bounty is approx. 30 - 50 bitcoins or $500- $750.
PM me if interested or just reply here.
