Economy / Trading Discussion / Anyone out there doing money by trading? How?
on: January 02, 2023, 05:52:49 PM
The more I learn I am kind of coming to conclusion that trading in the long run is not profitable. I mean I don't know any single person who is doing decent amount of money for living by trading in crypto. Hence the question: do you know anyone who is successful trading in crypto? or are you doing well by trading crypto?

Other / Beginners & Help / what changes were made to the Bitcoin since disappearance of Satoshi?
on: December 03, 2022, 02:08:22 PM
I know that Bitcoin is changing... and the recent release of Bitcoin Core is 24. However, since I lack knowledge on coding I am curious what major changes were made to the Bitcoin. Is the block structure is the same? What about consensus protocol? I appreciate if someone could explain those changes in plain English with examples.

Economy / Trading Discussion / What if Grayscale had to sell all 643,572 bitcoins it has? Let's speculate.
on: November 29, 2022, 06:21:43 PM
"Grayscale has used that capital to buy more and more BTC. Now, it's accumulated over 643,572 bitcoins, which is around $10.12 billion in assets as of the time of this writing"
Grayscale for sure is under a lot of pressure right now. As far as I know, they are struggling to find additional funds and one of the possible outcomes of this situation is that they might be forced to sell all the 643,572 bitcoins. How far BTC can drop if this will happen?
Let's speculate.

Economy / Trading Discussion / Crypto news in plain English. Let's read it!
on: November 07, 2022, 01:32:21 PM

For those who are new in the town and might not know all the details and story behind the news. And the jargon doesn't help. So, let's start this thread and help beginners to understand the news. Here anyone can post a news, tweet or a question and ask others to explain it in plain English. Explain Like I'm Five basically. Here is the first such a request from me: Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao tweets: Liquidating our FTT is just post-exit risk management, learning from LUNA. We gave support before, but we won't pretend to make love after divorce. We are not against anyone. But we won't support people who lobby against other industry players behind their backs. Onwards. https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1589374530413215744?s=20&t=K5YKbRlcssl0g8QoglZpLAWhat is this all about? FTX was lobbying behind the Binance?

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / How CEXs work?
on: November 03, 2022, 03:01:38 PM
It would be interesting to understand how CEX works.
Couple of questions to start with: Let's take BTC/USDT pair.
1. Do a CEX create a new BTC wallet for every client and keeps the keys with them? Or there is one wallet for the BTC/USDT pair? 2. What exactly happens when you buy/sell BTC? Where that BTC goes actually? 3. How they know who has what amount of BTC? 4. What about other pairs? Like ETH/USDT? SOL/USDT?
Thanks.

Economy / Economics / Is recession coming actually?
on: October 31, 2022, 08:54:58 AM
I am quite new to the crypto, investing, economy and all that...so far really got interested in about a year ago. So far what I see is lots of lack of similarities in opinions of youtubers, blogers and mass media. Some sources are shouting like creasy that a great recession is coming and it will hurt everyone so bad like never did. More moderate youtubers are doing some analysis and basically what they saying is, well there could be recession, and that is ok, this is how you get markets cleaned up. And there is third part that says, no everything is ok... unemployment is high, GDP is rising so technically we are not in a recession.
So the question is, what is going on there, are we really heading to recession? (or this is how markets work, so that people always speculate? )

Other / Beginners & Help / How and who writes code for Bitcoin?
on: October 20, 2022, 07:36:32 AM
This probably silly question, still I just wonder if all other blockchain projects has a 'leader' (Vitalik for Eth, and Antoliy for SOL, etc) who is managing/controlling/guiding Bitcoin development? Is there any team or a person behind all the decisions being made? I guess the code of Bitcoin was changed since Satoshi disappeared?

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How USDT (stablecoins) work?
on: October 11, 2022, 02:19:53 PM

I am trying to understand how USDT (or any other stablecoins) work. Is it true that USDT is just a contract on Ethereum? If it is true, then do we know its address? And another question is, how Teather emit new USDT whereas the contract can't be changed?

Economy / Trading Discussion / Any resources to do your own on-chain analysis?
on: June 21, 2022, 01:12:24 PM
Time to time I read about on-chain analysis showing this and that. I guess some people or companies really know how to do on-chain analysis. So, since the data is available from the chain, can we do our analysis? Is there any resources to learn? Thanks.

Economy / Trading Discussion / Should I buy BTC or DCA other coins?
on: May 24, 2022, 02:25:30 PM
Since prices are down, I am going to spend some money for shopping. Not a lot, just what I can spend. Now the question is, should I buy BTC (currently I don't have any BTC) or should I do DCA for ETH, SOL or DOT? Now the reason I am asking this question is I have some of ETH, SOL and DOT, and I still consider that my ETH and DOT average prices are little bit higher, so DCAing would be nice option. But then, given that the I am little concerned what might happen to SOL and DOT in this phase of the market. Anyway, thanks.

Other / Beginners & Help / better algorithm to mine Bitcoin, was there any?
on: May 19, 2022, 02:37:07 PM
I wonder if there were any attempts to come up with better algorithm that will allow you to mine BTC faster than others? I mean, if I understood correctly, all you have to do is run the hash function with the desired outcome, in this case, with the leading 17-19 zeros. So, is there better algorithms or bruteforcing is the only way?

So, as the question says who do you think a beginner could follow on twitter/read the blog /watch on youtube in order to learn/understand the cryptomarket? Basically looking for some source of info that makes sense to consume, as there are tons of garbage on the Internet.
