[This thread credit goes to TheBeardedBaby for making the list of merit applications compilation from his old thread]
So after 3 years and some months of the last thread about the list of merit source applications, I think it's time to get Theymos attention again to do a little reconfiguration to the active members that have not given up on becoming merit source since they submitted their applications. After going through TheBeardedBaby thread, there are users that have remained active and haven't given up, some are inactive for a while, some were last active a year ago and even more, and some reputation has washed down the drain due to one or two things they did to have violated rules of the forum with evidence on their trusted feedback. I will leave that for Theymos to decide their judgment but I believe a good leadership need a clean résumé even if they are active. What is this thread all about? There has been some thread bumping from the old and new applications as a merit source and I think compiling the list of the old pending threads and new pending threads for Theymos to review again in a single thread will fasten the process instead of searching up for the threads, which in the process, some application may be skipped or forgotten. However, I did a little itemization and prioritized user applications that are still active that can convince Theymos of been worthy of the Job but distrust users are starred with *In the list of the applications, I sort it out with name(user), local board location, Application, and date. This way, where applications are coming from and zoning merit source jobs to users will be visible to everyone and Theymos to decide who to pick and who to discard is left to him. I hope he sees it. The reason why included their respective local board was that there are some applications that were specific to be a local board merit source, it will be easier to review the applications if they know their respective local boards, and if they needed more sources or not. User | | | Applications | | | Local board | | | Date | | | | | | | | | | | | 3/Jul/18 | | | | | | | | | | | | 10/Mar/19 | | | | | | | | | | | | 20/Jul/19 | | | | | | | | | | | | 19/Sep/19 | | | | | | | | | | | | 30/Nov/19 | | | | | | | | | | | | 03/Jan/20 | | | | | | | | | | | | 10/Mar/20 | | | | | | | | | | | | 31/May/20 | | | | | | | | | | | | 06/June/20 | | | | | | | | | | | | 20/Sep/20 | | | | | | | | | | | | 06/Nov/20
I'm not sure if all the previous application has been reviewed by Theymos, the new applications after the previous ones will be listed differently below. Just in case. | | | | | | | | | 15/Sep/21 | | | | | | | | | | | | 05/Dec/21 | | | | | | | | | | | | 26/Dec/21 | | | | | | | | | | | | 12/Jun/22 | | | | | | | | | | | | 29/Nov/22 | | | | | | | | | | | | 21/Jul/23 | | | | | | | | | | | | 08/Aug/23 | | | | | | | | | | | | 23/Aug/23
These are the recent applications I was able to compile in the meta board, if there is anyone that is yet to make the list, pleace call my attention for addition.

I noticed a block confirmed less than an hour ago, but I also noticed that it contains only a single transaction, I was wondering why would they confirmed just a single transaction in a block amidst this period of large pending transactions. This is the block that was found with a single transaction: https://mempool.space/block/000000000000000000042e59020bb65cd4221498a9cb6fc81bb43a35bdf9d8b6I was confused why will they mine a single transaction when everyone is looking for a way to move their bitcoin from one place to another, this doesn't make sense when they can allow others to include their transactions with the fees all together.

What has an advantage has its own disadvantage but with precaution and proper guidance, it will be easier to minimize the disadvantages; this statement is for people that would say they don't use telegram because of scammers and perpetrators, I understand but there is a good side to telegram and one of the good sides is the bots, these bots help you in many ways regardless of how experienced you are to transactions, the fees, how to scan transactions and also get notify what is happening on the forum when offline. There are a variety of these bots and they are not only limited to Bitcoin transactions, there are other bots that can help you monitor incoming and outgoing transactions on wallet address on other blockchains for free, you can track a wallet address when they have incoming transactions and outgoing transactions, and they help you scan your wallet address and monitor any wallet address without using a browser, they also help you know the fees to pay for the Bitcoin network and also look at sats require to get a transaction from wallet A to wallet B and also get notified when you get mentioned on this forum. These Bots are discussed below and their username is indicated inside parenthesis () for easy recognition of the usernames. Bitcoin Fees(@BitcoinFeesAlert_bot): What this bot does is that you can get the current fees of Bitcoin/Vbyte for transactions with its inbuilt command, it can help you with an alert when the fees go below a certain sat/Vbyte, and when a transaction is pending, it can also help you with an alert when it becomes confirmed with the transaction ID. Screenshot 1: Testing out Alert of If sat <= 5 Screenshot 2: Testing out current fees of Bitcoin transactions. These are some of the tested screenshots from the bot and as you can see, Bitcoin transaction fee is high since last week and to test out pending Bitcoin transactions, you need the transaction ID and reply with the Bot with /tx xxxx(txhash) and it will notify you when the transaction becomes confirmed. TrackTX(@TrackTX): This one is not limited to Bitcoin; it allows you to monitor Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the Binance smart chain transactions all at once. You can get your balance without having to access the explorer through your browser, and they are safe to use because they scan wallet addresses from reputable sources such as blockchair for bitcoin, etherscan for Eth, and bscan for BSC wallet addresses. BitcoinTalk SuperNitifier(@BTTSuperNotifier_bot): This bot is created by a devoted member of this forum, with this telegram bot, you get notified when you receive merit on any of your posts, when any of the forum member pens down your name in any submitted post or quote your previous post, and also help you tracked topics and board in this forum, you can visit the official thread for more details about the telegram bot project. What the bot need is your forum username and UID to get notified about what is happening relative to your account. There are more telegram helpful bots out there but the one I listed will never ask you for any sensitive information, they will never ask you for private keys or request for email address, I hope this helps. Cheers!

The term "Bitcoin Jumpstart" in this thread refers to a collection of essential Bitcoin tools and resources for beginners to understand and engage with Bitcoin easily. This thread provides hints and resources for Bitcoin enthusiasts who may find it overwhelming to navigate through various threads to grasp the concept of Bitcoin. With "Bitcoin Jumpstart," beginners can have summarized starter packs to kickstart their journey into Bitcoin. The kits vary based on how the developers and founders implement them. Some are open source, while others are not. However, I will focus on including the most reputable and reliable ones that are trusted by the Bitcoin community and are suited for decentralization. The kits are itemized as follows: Wallet: As a beginner that is using Bitcoin for the first time, you will at some point require a bitcoin wallet in order to receive and transfer bitcoin. There are various types of Bitcoin wallets in hardware and software options, but it is advisable to opt for an open-source wallet. These wallets have their codes publicly available for the Bitcoin community to review, evaluate, and ensure their authenticity for everyone. Additionally, open-source wallets are regularly checked for bugs to ensure that users' keys are safe and secure. some examples of open-source wallets are: The following hardware wallets are open source and their code is available on GitHub and reliable in alphabetical order: Bitbox, BitHD, Bitlox, Cypherock X1, Hito, HyperMate, Jade, Keepkey, OneKey, OneKey Mini, Passport, Prokey, Satochip, Secalot, Trezor Software wallets are simple to use and available for devices and can be installed on both computers and mobile devices. However, they are only suitable for small amounts of Bitcoin intended for daily use or spending. For secure storage of larger amounts, a hardware wallet is highly recommended. For those who prefer open-source mobile wallets, they are denoted in italic format among the available options: Bitcoin core, Electrum, Bluewallet, Wasabi, Samurai, and Sparrow wallet. Bitcoin explorers: Bitcoin explorers serve a purpose in allowing users to monitor the movement of Bitcoin from one wallet address to another, track input and output, and view wallet address balances. However, with the abundance of such explorers available, the ones I have chosen stand out due to their ability to scan the latest types of wallet addresses, such as P2TR, which are supported by these explorers and are listed in alphabetical order for ease of use: Bitaps.com, BitInfoCharts, BitcoinExplorer, BitcoinWho'sWho, Bitquery, Blockchair.com, BTC.com, Chainflyer.bitflyer.jp, Mempool.space, OKLink, TokenView, and Trezor Bitcoin Explorer. Decentralized Bitcoin Exchanges: As a new person to Bitcoin and looking to buy it for the first time, you'll need to use a Bitcoin exchange. While there are many types of Bitcoin exchanges available, the majority of them are centralized, meaning they're controlled by the people who created them, and the cons of using centralized exchanges outweigh the pros in the long run. That's why it's recommended to use a decentralized exchange to buy your Bitcoin and always ensure that you transfer your funds to your hardware wallets. Some popular and easy-to-use decentralized exchanges include: Changely, Bisq, and Hodl Hodl. When there is a need to swap from other tokens to Bitcoin, use centralized exchanges that don't compulsory KYC like Kucoin (allows upto 1BTC/day without KYC), Houbi (allows upto 5BTC/day without KYC), and MXC (allows upto 20BTC/day without KYC). Bitcoin Mixing: Bitcoin is commonly associated with KYCs and taints, which can lead to profiling and linking individuals to their Bitcoin transactions or any criminal activity. To prevent this, mixing is a viable solution. When you receive Bitcoin from an unknown source, it is impossible to determine its origin. However, if you receive it from an exchange when selling tokens for Bitcoin, there may be a connection. Mixing breaks this link, making it one of the best ways to increase your privacy. There are various programs available that break the input-output connection and ensure anonymity, although they come at a cost. However, these charges are reasonable and usually quite affordable. Some renowned mixing services include: CryptoMixer, Anonymixer, Coinomize, Blindmixer, UniJoin, Whirlwind.money, YoMix.io, Sinbad, and many more................Bitcoin Accelerators: These services work but the genuine ones are rare, accelerators fasten transactions that are stuck in the mempool due to exorbitant rises in transaction fees. Without their intervention, it could take days for your transaction to be confirmed. They collect your transaction ID and ensure that it is confirmed promptly. Some of the services that offer this include ViaBTC and BTC.com. In reality, an accelerator is not necessary if you use a wallet with Replace By Fee (RBF) functionality, as it enables you to increase the fee and bump your transaction when it is stuck and refused to confirm. Cointracker and Market Overview: Market overviews and coin trackers are very important as they allow you to monitor all the available coins in the market. These platforms provide you with information on Bitcoin's trading volume, the exchanges where it is traded, it's market capitalization, as well as a comparison with other coins in the market. Additionally, on platforms like Coingecko and Coinmarketcap, you can create your own portfolio and add it to your watchlist. Bitcoin Tax: In some countries, Bitcoin is considered a taxable asset, whether you are buying or selling it, using it to purchase items, receiving it as a gift from a friend, or receiving it as a reward for mining or through an airdrop. It's important to note that avoiding Bitcoin tax can lead to legal consequences in some jurisdictions. To prevent such issues, it's important to pay your taxes on time if you use Bitcoin, the following tools such as Bitcoin.tax, Blox, Cointracking, Cointracker, Cryptotrader, Koinly, TokenTax, and Zenledger, all can help you calculate capital gains, profits and losses, and other important analyses. Bitcoin Books: Knowledge can transform everyone's life they say depending on how you use it, the material above is more in-depth than you could have imagined, it was sourced from other professionals and developers that made it accessible to beginners and those that are passionate about Bitcoin. There is a tonne of books produced by many authors with diverse content, yet they all express the same ideas. The ones that are easy for me to understand and are familiar to me are: Mastering Bitcoin, The Internet of Money, Mastering Bitcoin for Dummies, Digital Cash and many more............... Reference

[This thread was started by sheenshane but abandoned without updates, this combine the previous thread and the upated events]
April fool jokes are fun, and it has been a tradition on the forum on every first day of the month of April that Theymos(Administrator) usually played jokes with members on the forum, although people who have experienced one or two Aprils would be familiar with how much fun it used to be, the first time are the ones who mostly create most of the threads asking questions if something is wrong with their account or if the forum is experiencing a bug or glitch. The most fascinating aspect is that the old members do play along and appear as if they don't know what's going on, as we have today, many threads have been opened for questions, and some other members who offer signature service management have made jaw tantalizing rates threads to fool participants. However, the objective of this thread is to inform other people who were not here when it started and are interested in learning about earlier April fools that have been done by the administrator. This thread recognized the previous April fool that Theymos has played on every first of April since 2015. April fool dates | | | April fool Events | | | Brief description of what happened | 01/04/2015 | | | | | | In the year 2013, the forum avatars were disabled for everyone not until 2015 when he re-enable it for everyone but it was restricted for Newbie, J. Member, and Member accounts. Not only that, something interesting happened that day: the avatars displayed on users accounts were meme avatars, not the actual ones they uploaded; when you log in to your account, your real avatar is displayed on your profile, but when you log out, it displays a meme avatar.
| 01/04/2016 | | | | | | On this day, members of the forum noticed a change in the characters of bitcoin letters, it transformed from bitcoin to uᴉoɔʇᴉq, not just that, other users found that other popular coins then like litecoin changed to Lightcoin, DOGE changed to Catecoin, and Ethereum changed to Athereum. Although some members played along to capitalize(uppercase) the characters and they were able to avoid the trick.
| 01/04/2017 | | | | | | On this day, some members in the forum had 1 to 4 coins on their profile randomly with random titles to members who never had interest but it turn out that members that got the badge outnumbered admin expectations.
| 01/04/2018 | | | | | | Theymos used a new rank requirement to joke with members with Activity, Merit, Politeness, fMerit, Imagination, Virtue, Coins, Karma, and Posts. The values they each carry depend on how active you have been on the forum, the impression, the posting style, and the character each user has been using on the forum and this new rank lasted within 24 hours.
| 01/04/2019 | | | | | | To prevent fraud and multiple accounts, Theymos requested users do undergo a KYC for their account which was all jokes, and also to be extra verified, members were asked to upload a selfie. However, what was initially meant to be a joke was taken seriously by some users as 2541 members uploaded their pictures; Theymos knew some people would fall for the joke, and none of the pictures were captured by Bitcointalk.
| 01/04/2020 | | | | | | This was the year that Coronavirus spread and fear was around everybody, so the administrator decided to raise the stakes by displaying digital virus codes on posts, comments, and profiles. This made profiles appear as if they had been compromised by a virus, which was somewhat frightful given how close social distances were at the time and how little movement there was. However, it was just a traditional April fool's joke.
| 01/04/2021 | | | | | | Crypto was having all attention shift to NFT in 2021 and as valuable digitals art was then, the Admin decided to introduce Fnfts for members and also a marketplace where everyone can put them for sale and you can be lucky to sell fnfts for a whoop of 50BTC, who doesn't like such amount of bitcoin? That was how some people fell for the Joke.
| 01/04/2022 | | | | | | Questions were embedded on before posts, replies or to edit posts in other to improve the forum experience, the answer each user got were used to determine their IQ and it was openly displayed on the profiles for other members to see, some people perform very well while some knew it was all joke.
| 01/04/2023 | | | | | | This time, the admin wan to battle low-quality posts and introduced a Beta captcha that all the users must pass through as a requirement before posting and users who failed to pass the captcha will have ''This user is a suspected spammer!'' on their posts and after two weeks, they will ban but how do you pass a captcha that requests you to play DEFEAT FLAPPY BIRD, funny right, it is all joke.
| 01/04/2024 | | | | | | Theymos introduce a new system of merit in a way that for every 15 characters that you write, you get merit deduction. Also introduced a system to encourage members to have more merit when they stay online to read posts. However, the catch is that the merit you receive or loss does not affect your smerit, which means you will not receive any smerit to send out or lose the ones you have already. Don't worry, it's all part of the April Fools' joke.

I believe that as the year goes on and the forum expands with more members, the more entertaining they will become. I expect to see more April 1st jokes every year, and what makes it even more entertaining is that some users have added their own jokes to keep the boards fun. Enjoy!

Every forum has a distinctive look and set of icons by default, however, the Forum chose SMF due to its ease of use and quick reaction time when pages are opened. The Forum contains a variety of emojis and icons, but this thread is all about the icons that best capture what threads are all about. The Forum has nested icons on every thread, and these icons give you a hint about what is happening in the thread. However, some newbies and perhaps other members don't look at them, and they don't understand what they represent even though they have hints under the navigation of all the boards that we have in the Forum. The available thread icons include the following: | ____________________________ | _______________________________________________________ | | | Topics you have posted in: This icon often appears in threads in which you have engaged or replied, they will appear in front of any thread in which you have submitted one or more comments. It is important to always check for this icon in order to avoid spamming and the duplication of various replies to the OP in a thread. | | ____________________________ | _______________________________________________________ | | | Normal topic: This icon tells you that you have not responded to the thread before and the thread is still on its first page. When you want to reply or interact in any new threads on any board, these are the type of kind of threads to engage with for a start | | ____________________________ | _______________________________________________________ | | | Hot topic (more than 21 replies): This icon usually displayed in threads that are more than one page. When discussions are more than one page, it usually changes to this icon.
| | ____________________________ | _______________________________________________________ | | | Very Hot Topic (more than 100 replies): This icon is usually displayed in threads that have more than one page. When discussions are more 4 one page, it usually changes to this icon.
| | ____________________________ | _______________________________________________________ | | | Locked Topics: Threads can be closed for a variety of reasons, depending on the OP, such as to prevent spamming or to prevent other users from contributing to the thread. When you see this padlock icon on a thread, it means it is locked and you cannot reply to it. | | ____________________________ | _______________________________________________________ | | | Sticky topics: This icon is normally placed at the top of the boards, they are used to include vital information and, in order to prevent navigating to the next page in the board, the moderators used to attach them to the top of each board for users that need them for quick information. | | ____________________________ | _______________________________________________________ | | | Poll Icon: This is primarily for voting, the posts are normally to seek user opinions to vote on the options that are provided by the OP, whenever you see this type of thread, just know that you are required to vote and you may or may not reply. |
There are other Icons for threads but these are the available icons for threads with the basic information I have seen in bitcointalk forum, I hope this helps people that are new to the forum and those who are just understanding them for the first time. Cheers.

Recently, I became perplexed by NFTs and began researching them, but there is nothing sweet about them in terms of how cryptocurrency is revolutionary to people, though it is part of adoption, but the fact that projects are coined out as a result of providing solutions to an existing technology is outstanding, such as scalability (speed) and demand and supply with future value. In my perspective, I don't see this in NFTs as future the it's been heavily hyped, and I wouldn't advise an average man like me to buy an NFT instead of investing in altcoins and Bitcoins. They were worth a dime yesterday, but the credible ones have maintained their road map and whitepaper development today. Buying an NFT today is dangerous, and everyone is hopping on it since there is amazing money to be made in there, conduct your own research thoroughly.
