2  Other / Beginners & Help / Question about a power supply on: June 15, 2012, 12:07:51 AM
I'm currently using the Antect TPQ-1200w http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371032 for one of my mining rigs.  I was wondering what people thought would be a good amount a cards for it without over doing it?  Currently I have 2 5970's on it.  I have a few other cards I could add.  I have 1 6990, 2, 7970's and a few 5870's.

Im currrently using this motherboard BIOSTAR A870U3, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138318 with this processor AMD Phenom II X4 925 Deneb 2.8GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop.  The Os on the system is winXP pro 32 bit, with the ati 11.8 drivers( tried 11.7 also).  Here is the issue I'm having if I just put 1 video card in the system it works fine but when I add a 2nd it seems to cut the mining speed on the cards down by about a 1/3.  If I tell it to stop mining on 1 of the cards the other goes back to full speed.  I've tried different cards, and  an Sempron 145 and I connected another power supply up to it which is 1000w's to just rule out that stuff.  I've also tried with the poclbm-GUIminer and CG miner.

I'm pretty new to this stuff so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.  I do have another system which has 3 video cards in it and it's all working fine.  It's running windows 7 though but I just can't figure out the issue with this one.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this power supply?   It looks like for that price it is a pretty good deal.  I wouldn't need 1000w's right now but I thought it would give me the option of expanding more later.

5  Other / Beginners & Help / Question about video cards mining speeds on: August 06, 2011, 02:11:24 PM
Hello I'm pretty new to bitcoins so I'm hoping someone can help me.   Currently I'm using this Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138318 with this processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103944.   I have a 5770 and a 4870 on it using a 630wpower supply.   Just mining with the 5770 I get a little over 200 mhash, just mining with the 4870 I get about 80 mhash.  But when I start mining with both at the same time the 5770 drops down to about 120 and the 4870 drops to about 40.

Anyone know what could be causing this?
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Computer locking up with 2x msi 6950 on: July 15, 2011, 01:11:37 PM
Hello, I'm new to Bitcoin mining and was hoping someone could help me out with this problem.  I have 1 computer that has 2 of the MSI 6950's in it and if I try and do something while its mining the computer usually just locks up.  I'm running Windows 7, with the 11.7 drivers, using the Guiminer.  I'm not sure if there is a flag or something I need to put in to help this?  And I don't have the video cards overclocked or anything.
