1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Local/Traditional Gambling Spots on: April 01, 2024, 10:40:12 AM
Have you  ever had the thought of visiting a local gambling spot before, or have you been there before? I had to go there days ago. The place is characterized by old men gamblers and this board game which we call it in our place, is called draft in the local dialect here, some call it Okwe, and others call it different names in their various languages.

I noticed something there, the old men who play this game together always play with fun irrespective of the fact that they gamble, they laugh, talk, and make fun of themselves while they gamble without anyone noticing that they are gambling. Although I have been around them a few times while they play, I never had any idea they gambled. They do that maturely, and you would never understand they do so.

It is never like this when the young ones are playing that game. They always end up shouting match, fighting and quarreling, and making it obvious to people that they are gamblers, which is not appropriate. At first, the environment where they sit to play the game is very rowdy, which is not like that of the older men; they are well-coordinated and mature while playing. This is what the local gambling spot looks like in my country, and it has been going on like that from time to time without any thought of change from the young ones who engage themselves in the game. I have also asked them, just as I did to the older men, but the narrative is quite different from what the older man told me. The younger ones are desperate to get the money, which has made them gamble and forget so soon the tenets and principles of gambling.

The older men gamble, but maturely, and when they gamble, they make fun of the games played, and in some cases, they correct themselves while playing. Despite the fact that they gamble, they point out lapses and errors their counterparts made while playing, laugh over them, and do not mind if money is involved in the game they play.

Have you visited the traditional gambling sport  in your place? How do the traditional gambling games and spots in your country look? Have you gambled the local way?  How was your experience, then?

2  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Nigeria Government Detains Two Binance Executives on: February 29, 2024, 08:42:59 AM

I have long anticipated this particular event between the Nigeria government and binance to take place in the future which is happening now. I remember in my previous comments on a topic created here and the other platform where I said that the government would soon begin clamp down on binance just to get the list of Nigerians registered on their platform since their inception and here it is taking shape. I believe all these fight like I Initially said is just to get at binance to pay tax of all the transaction charges they've been benefitting from Nigeria p2p trade deals.

I believe this is amongst the reasons why the clamp down is taking a different tone altogether and this was the response from the CBN governor when asked about the binance clampdown;
“In the last four years, more than $26 billion have been funnelled through Binance without trace.”

I would not be surprised that some powers that be themselves are into the Crypto currency trade and are just hiding behind playing innocent but doing the unthinkable just to protect or cover up their dirty act with the funds under their custody.

In all, the major reasons behind this scuffle is just taxation. The Nigeria government just wants binance to pay tax of all transactions  they have conducted on the Nigeria binance p2p platform which they want to benefit from  that's all. That is a huge amount of money which they know themselves could benefit from through channeling it to other means in the name of projects and other engagements.

My concern now is this, would the federal government charge binance to pay for tax in arrears right from their inception and also charge Nigerians registered with binance to pay tax in same fate as they have begin to put pressure on binance to give them list and details of Nigerians registered with them right from their inception.

Your thoughts and opinions are welcomed.

3  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / OKX Exchange Verification Update. on: February 21, 2024, 04:44:59 PM

Fellow countrymen and women I bring you update with respect to the okx exchange verification exercise. If you have an account with okx exchange kindly do well to go conclude your verification exercise otherwise after seven days as automated by the okx management without you concluding your verification exercise, your account would be suspended as any token present in your account would be seized by the okx exchange. I believe majority of us here did the avive mining and airdrop of which we have linked our various accounts and have started receiving or coin on okx exchange. So therefore I will urge us to look into this and give it the utmost attention it deserves so you do not get your account restricted as you do not know what the coin in your exchange wallet holds tomorrow for you.

Lastly, something caught my attention while reading through the mail. I got to a particular sentence which states local laws. I remember vividly clear early this year or so when placed emphasis on the Nigeria government possibly engaging with all the Crypto exchange which Nigerians are likely patronising possibly demanding for KYC details to get records of Crypto transactions for further actions or engagements and here it I playing. Who knows what the government is up to this time around. There is every possibility that the government is doing this to start taxing crypto transactions. Onset from the very first day the federal government lifted ban on Bitcoin transaction, I knew they were up to something this time around and gradually it has started unveiling itself. Let us watch and see how it goes.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Do you believe visiting a seer or spiritual house could make you win a game? on: January 31, 2024, 07:07:38 PM
Recently, I have come across a post on this board that has to do with something related to superstitious beliefs and gambling. In the post, the poster was giving an instance where somebody's father gave him a game to play and he ignored it, and when the game ended, it happened that what he was given happened to be the result of the game, and the same thing repeated itself the second time where his father came again and asked him why he did not play the game and gave him another, which he failed to play again. However, I am meant to understand that some people go as far as visiting seers and the rest of the spiritual houses to help them play or see the outcome of the games they want to play so they can win big.

So I was wondering if there is any connectivity here, or do you believe such could happen in your own situation? Can you do such a thing to win? Have you had the experience of going to such places to seek predictions on how the outcome or results of games could be if they worked in your favor or not? Have you had anyone say or tell you such before and how their experience was?

Let us discuss and share your experience so that people could hear and learn from your  story in the quest for you to win a game that led you to doing or going that extra miles in such engagement.
5  Economy / Reputation / Bitcointalk good tidings and Christmas wishes. on: December 20, 2023, 07:15:31 AM
The festive season is here again. This is a season of fun and merriment, and it's worth the celebration. It is a period of good tidings and joy. It is a time to share and show love to one another, even if we do that often. This period is very remarkable, as we celebrate and have fun this holiday. It is a happy holiday, and as such, it should be a time of good wishes.

We, as a community, have people here who we see as mentors and coaches. They have been our source of inspiration and drive for our existence here. We have, on many occasions, looked up to them and also benefited from their kind gestures. It would be nice if we called them out and wished them a Merry Christmas. You, as an individual, know who has played a role in your existence here. You can call them out, wishing them a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a prosperous New Year in advance.

It's a fun time, and I think it is worth it.

I will start by wishing a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a prosperous New Year in advance to The Cryptovator, as he played a vital role in my growing up through the ranks here. I remember last year, December 19th, to be precise, I woke up to get a surprise gift after my birthday on the 18th, and before then, I  engaged in an exercise that was a successful one. That Christmas and birthday gift from him lifted me to full member rank, which all put me up to the next phase of my existence here. So far, I am grateful, and once again, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.

Adbitco, CryptopreneurBrainboss, Igebotz, and Fivestar4everMVP, I will also not forget your advice, as it also played a role in my existence here. Your efforts in building up the local board also speak volumes. Your initiative steered up more actions on our local board, leading to more onboarding of members, and today our local board could boast of more members on this forum, and they are good at their work. Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year in advance.

Notwithstanding, I will never forget Yahoo62278 and Royse777. I remember attaining the member rank when Yahoo62278 put up an opening in the then-ongoing Winzio signature campaign, and he made available a member rank slot for which I applied, and I was accepted into the campaign. I worked with him till the campaign was officially closed. While working with him, I learned a lot from his management style and also built my capacity for posting and being creative, which also aided my knowledge growing up here. After that, I got a slot in the ongoing Yomix campaign managed by Royse777. I started from the very first week of the Yomix campaign up until this moment. I am still very active, and I also acquired more skills in building up my capacity with Royse777. I learned a lot from both managers, as they are among the reputable managers onboard this platform. I forgot to say this; I grew through the ranks to the point where I am now under the Royse777 campaign and management. I am very happy working with both managers. Their managerial skills are top-notch. I wish both managers and other managers a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year in advance.

I will also appreciate the likes of some reputable members and fellows—Fillippone, Symmetrick, HugeBlack, and lots of other names too numerous to mention—who have been part of my existence here. Their push-up sustained my growth here, and I am grateful to all of you. I also want to use this opportunity to wish you a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year in advance.

I believe we all have our own stories, and I send a good wish to the members who have been of help to us here. It would be nice if we called them out, sending them good tidings and wishes and recognizing their efforts as well.

If you feel this is not the right place for this post, you can please redirect me to the appropriate board for it, as I am open to constructive conversation and correction.

Let the fun begin!

Merry Christmas to you all!
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Count down to Bitcoin halving. on: December 08, 2023, 10:41:17 AM

As the count down to Bitcoin halving continues I feel I should put it up here for all to see and take every necessary and relevant steps to fill their bags as time permits. As we all know when ever Bitcoin halving is around the corner, there is always a surge in Bitcoin price from its current price to a higher one. As it stands now, we all know that the Bitcoin market is heading for a bull because of lately, there have been increase in Bitcoin price which has been long expected by the Crypto community.

Hopefully, this forth coming halving would trigger a new all time high as the case maybe and as such the market is still early to enter. While doing this, use funds you can afford to lose as no one can predict the direction of the market.

It would also be nice to keep track of the halving count down and activities and to do that, the link below can help you out by taking you to the coin market cap page where it is visible to see.

Click on the Bitcoin halving at the front page, there you would see the halving details.

8  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / A sudden slash in the price of cement. on: October 06, 2023, 12:27:02 AM

My country people. This na the type of news we want to dey hear every day for we country Nigeria. The rate at which building materials skyrocket no be small. This thing make people wey been dey build pause their house project. The ones dem wey want to begin to build suspend their own too as a result of the increase in the price of building materials. Wetin come to baffle me be say Naija get limestone and these cement factories dem dey for here how come the price for the cement per bag come to increase to a point wey be say the price too high to talk about.

I became curious to know the reasons behind this sudden slash in price per bag of cement by this company. After reading the circular as published by the organization, I could not see any tangible reasons but I was having this thought if they could have teamed up initially to increase the price for just no reason, and now the only best-known reasons for this company to have decided to drastically slash the price with immediate price effect all over the nation. This is a good move because it would cause others to drop prices as well and the competition would be very high among the cement producers on the other hand, would other cement producers not come for him for taking such measures because I know this would affect the rest of the other producers.

Well, I have no idea how effective it would be but I believe that this decision would make others sit up.

9  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Ghana preparing to supply Nigeria electricity. on: October 04, 2023, 11:02:49 AM

I came across this update on one of the online dailies and it baffles me a lot. I remembered that Nigeria supplies Ghana electricity and I could remember vividly clear that there was a period Ghana celebrated one week constant electricity power supply  without interruption while depending on Nigeria as her supplier but the reverse is the case here in Nigeria. Ghana as a nation are developing their power sector rapidly while still depending on Nigeria and up to the point of possibly becoming a supplier to Nigeria as soon as they are done with the final stage of development of their power sector.

This information was disclosed while they were having a Summit at Lagos on Nigeria Energy Leadership Summit as graced by Mr. Hanson Monney, the Head of the Generation and Transmission Unit at the Ghanaian Ministry of Energy.
Quote
“So, we are working on all these things to make sure that the power system of Ghana continues to be as good as it is or even better, and then, maybe, we can be exporting more to our big brothers in Nigeria when the grid is finally settled,”

This has made me to have  a thought over this and I was wondering what is really the cause of our electricity gridlock and  epileptic power supply here in Nigeria. Finance I think is not the cause of our power shortage here in Nigeria as our government allocates huge fund to the power sector, Policies are made to help sustain power supply and also payment of electricity tariff which is not favorable to consumers as they complain lack of power supply and hence some do not bother complying with payment and if they do pay, they make part payment.

Quote
Monney stressed the significance of lowering electricity prices, particularly for enterprises, since high electricity bills are a major issue in Ghana. “We saw that in Ghana historically. These industries have been subsidizing the residential sector, and it should be the other way around. Industries should remain viable so that businesses can thrive,”

Would Nigeria be able to Implement such policies as Ghana did to sustain and encourage her citizens to pay their electricity tariff. What do you really think is the major cause of power failure here in Nigeria despite the huge funds going into the power sector coupled with the fact that Nigeria is rich in mineral deposit which could have helped well enough to cushion the lapses in our  power sector.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Telegram launches crypto currency wallet. on: September 14, 2023, 10:57:22 AM

Congratulations to telegram for launching their own crypto wallet. It has long been on the news and limelight of telegram running their own TON network for quite some years now and at last they achieved it. With their large traffic size of over 800 million users on monthly basis I think this would give them a good edge and stand on Crypto market as they already have a good utility value coupled with the fact that they just launched their own Crypto wallet.

I further had to do some research and records findings of past occurrences and experience with telegram and it became pertinent that I ask these questions. I believe each telegram account holder would definitely have to create his or her own wallet possibly after an upgrade to update such features into the app. So far there have been a lot of nefarious act been done on telegram such as account cloning, account hacking and lots more and I ask what if in a situation where by one's account telegram account is hacked does that automatically grants the hacker access to the wallet? Because I believe the wallet is already built with that telegram account  irrespective of the fact that there is private key or phrase. Another question I have is this what if in the case of banning or blocking a telegram account, would the telegram team also block the wallet of the owner as well? I have to ask this because I became curious about this when I started doing my research into it. Another question I also have is this would the telegram wallet be some sorts of attached or linked to telegram username or ID of every telegram account holder?

I believe we can discuss this here to knowing more and sharing ideas about this unfolding development because telegram itself has a huge number of Crypto enthusiast and I tell you there would definitely be lots of activities and engagements on telegram in the days coming and this would definitely increase lots of telegram scams and hacks which would warrant telegram account holders to strengthen their telegram security features.
Your ideas are welcomed for further discussions.

11  Economy / Scam Accusations / Scammers sending messages of trust wallet verification. on: September 03, 2023, 02:57:19 PM

It is laughable how these scammers are so shallow minded. They think people are not informed to know what is obtainable in the Crypto industry. Although some newbies still fall for their trap but I think this trick does not have achievable attempt on me.

This mail was sent at the early hours of the day from scammers because I know for sure that trust wallet can not stoop so low to demarket their products in such a demeaning way. If you read through you would discover that there is a link provided by the scammers which I suspected it to be a phishing link to get access to wallet or possibly requesting for key phrase too and I was wondering when trust wallet began to do wallet verification otherwise wallet be suspended.

So far to the best of my knowledge, third party wallets are just service providers and have no right to request for verification purposes otherwise they might be dumped by their users. If any wallet ask you for KYC then it means that they are not serious for business or they are scammers in disguise.

Be careful how you click links of such nature in your mailbox so as to avoid hearing stories that touches the heart.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Will the launch of $350M crypto mining centre in Oman make a difference? on: August 22, 2023, 11:03:07 PM
Of lately news has it that Oman the well known Oil rich city  sets aside  a mapped town for Crypto mining for which I strongly believe Bitcoin is not excluded. According to the source, this is the second mining facility set up by the Oman government which costs a whopping sum of $350m and that has so far steered up positive reactions towards the country.

Looking at this, I see economic diversification if not why would an oil rich city want to go into Crypto mining. They have seen the future of the new world economy and are beginning to set up something in anticipation so as not to be taken unawares.  With this policy which they have done, I  see giant Crypto mining organisation heading to Oman in the nearest future. This has put the nation in the list of Crypto friendly nations in the world and as such would be generating huge revenue from crypto mining projects and other crypto organisation's that want to establish there as a result of their friendly Crypto policies.

If Oman a nation with huge Oil deposit could do such how much more about nations with no natural resources. They have seen the future and are strategically positioning themselves to get the wind towards their direction.

This might just be a good catch for other Oil rich nations to follow up.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Possible measures to stop online gambling addiction. on: August 02, 2023, 09:50:30 PM
I have seen several topics here and other discussion thread where many people talked about gambling addiction. So many procedures been stated to follow sequentially to reduce the rate at which one frequently visit online gambling sites and possibly their application if they do have any of them.

I remember in one of the threads I raised up a point which was long hidden as the thread became too numerous and lengthy to continue the conversation on that topic. It was my opinion to add up in profering solutions to gambling addiction. I believe not too many people saw it to to say something about it so that is why I had to bring it up as a topic hear. I want to hear your opinion and ideas towards it.

Here is it;

I am of the opinion that since gambling sites are mostly online and some has adds that pops up as advert on visited site, one should be able to disable or change their browser settings  by blocking casino adds and as well disabling  gambling sites on their browser settings so as not to gain access to it anymore till the number of days they deem fit to their resolve. This was just a little tip I gave as a possible solution. I had to put it up here for further discussions so that the bigger community can see it as  well.

If you feel or think here is not the right place for this you can say it. I am open to corrections as we all are here to learn.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / If bitcoin according to Satoshi is digital money then why call it investment. on: July 12, 2023, 02:20:28 AM
I know you must be wondering what's up with my topic right? I too was having a thought over this and I  felt I should bring it here for discussion so we all can share our own various opinions.

For quite sometime now all I have been seeing is statements and topics of bitcoin being an investment and it bothered me to look into it and I as well stand to be corrected logically and with facts with respect to this conversation.

The sole reason why bitcoin was invented was to serve the purpose of digital money for which it was clearly stated on the white paper by Satoshi Nakamoto as captured below by quote;

Quote
Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System.
    Bitcoin White Paper
If you look at the top page of the while paper, it is clearly written there and there was no captions like investment  attached to it or being mentioned by Satoshi Nakamoto himself. Now I ask how come it deviated to being an investment?. I have read all through the white paper and never saw anything like investment but rather " an electronic peer 2 peer cash payment system" which means bitcoin is money but in a digital way of making payments. So how come it became an investment?

I believe in the course of adding more value to it's existence, whales bought large volume by market manipulation at the early stage of bitcoin inception and those who couldn't stand the market wave sold out giving way for the whales to take over the market and since then along with other occurrence and scenarios,  bitcoin became an investment and store of value aka digital gold as per say as it worked out for the whales according to their schemes. Would it be that easy to correct that notion of bitcoin being called an investment other than money.
When it is used for payment of goods and services on daily basis and we having full custody of our funds in a digital way would it be necessary we calling it an investment aside the price increase which is fluctuating and barely stable for a long time.? I believe Satoshi Nakamoto the sole originator of the bitcoin knows much better than everyone why he invented the bitcoin and I also would be looking forward to his reappearance be it pseudo anonymous or otherwise to making some notable observations on the bitcoin journey so far.

15  Economy / Reputation / Proxy3200 possible scammer on: June 08, 2023, 04:07:46 PM
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

This is my first time of uploading my message content for the forum to see. I have to do it for every necessary measures to be taken to forestall any ill activities of this account holder.

As  at 7th of June 2023 as clearly seen on the uploaded image, the user as also seen (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3541801) sent me a message which I suspected to be a scam. I had to run a check and discovered that he the sender profile is kind of scanty with registration date March 17, 2023, 03:48:03 AM and since then @proxy3200 has not made any post not to talk of replying any post. I do not know how many people here must have received such message. I just want to let the platform know about this so that nobody would fall for this trick by this account holder @proxy3200.

If they are looking for this services what stops them from making an official announcement on the service board for others to see rather than sending message to my dm if they do not have a sinister motive. I would advise anyone dealing with them to be extremely cautious

16  Other / Beginners & Help / Some commonly used crypto acronyms and their meanings on bitcointalk for newbie. on: June 07, 2023, 02:35:51 PM
I thought of this for a long time and I had to come up with this task so as to help newbies understand the platform a bit clear of some acronyms and its full meaning so if they see it some where they could tell what it is and how to follow up if it means to do so. I had to do this based on a particular post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5454780.0) as raised by a newbie asking to know a particular acronym which s/he knows not. I have no idea if such a thread already exist but i just think this would help them a lot to get acquainted onboard the platform as the case maybe.

Since this is the thread for  Beginners & Help which invariably means that newbies would likely or definitely flood here to get updates on how the forum operates and getting some vital information to keep them abreast of activities. It would be in a good position to do the the needful seeing it here if there is any of such in any other board hence my making this post here for all newbie to see for themselves.
I stand to be corrected if there are any observations and possible relocation of this thread. Your opinions are all welcomed.

17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Montana bitcoin enthusiasts are now protected by the law. on: May 05, 2023, 06:41:32 PM

Bitcoin is beginning to gain traction in the United States as the law makers of Montana state passes a bill guiding miners to mine bitcoin. We all are aware of the US government negativity over bitcoin but of lately it is beginning to bounce back but i do not know if it is for political reasons all these are coming now but for sure I have watched and read  a lot of interviews press conferences held by Presidential aspirants of political parties talking about supporting bitcoin if elected. Are they doing this just for cheap political gains or what?

However, bitcoin enthusiasts at Montana should be celebrating as they are now free to mine and trade on bitcoin.
What startled me most is that;
"The proposed law passed 37-13 in the Senate and next will go the state's House for its approval. The bill protects at-home mining, prevents discriminatory utility rates for miners and stipulates that crypto used as payment will not be subject to additional taxes."

You can see the vote power and strength coming from the assembly men. This time it would not be game as usual.

18  Economy / Reputation / My 1000th Post on Bitcointalk platform. on: April 30, 2023, 07:37:35 PM
The journey so far on this platform has not been that easy. At first it was a panic and frightening one as I was afraid of being kicked out of the platform as a newbie who knows nothing much on how the forum operates.. I became nervous and also was careful of my words, works and activities here and gradually building myself on bitcoin information and education.

I had to read through the forum policies, guidelines and posts from high ranked and reputable members here to keep abreast. In other to be a part of the bitcoin movement after the much studies here I had to take the bitcoin movement to my locality where I recorded many huge successes for which I uploaded here for the community to see some of my works while some I did not bother uploading them. So far the awareness and adoption I had engaged are very much successful (you are free to check my created topics on my bio to see my uploads)

Achieving a thousand post here  isn't an easy task as It took me commitment, zeal, passion, dedication and encouragement from which I drew my strength. The following  board members I would salute for their encouragement; @The Cryptovator, @fillippone, @The Sceptical Chymist, @Yahoo62278, @Royse777, @CryptopreneurBrainboss, @Igebotz @Ratimov, @o_e_l_e_o, @DdmrDdmr, @JayJuanGee, @LoyceV @lionheart78 and lots too many to mention.
I would not forget to talk about my campaign experience.
At first, my first campaign I applied for was managed by @yahoo62278. It was very interesting and competitive so I had to put in all my best to making sure I maintained my spot a as member rank. It also sharpened and shaped me more on making good contributions in  posts and comments which I had built my base on till the campaign was finally over and it was a successful one as I rose through ranks and I was not removed.
Secondly, @Royse777 managed the second campaign I applied for and I was successfully accepted into the campaign which is still currently running. I also have learnt a lot from his management as he contributed in making me good at my work. I further developed the passion  in continuity and exercise for which I had long started on this platform and achieving successes.

Many would say a thousand post isn't a new thing as many have climbed above it but to me it is a fit achieved as the task is not as easy as they think it is. I know my activities are gradually building likewise my rank  which requires me more merits but commitment and good contributions are my goals as I appeal for a review on my works, post and contributions to be merited accordingly.

Lastly, I will also use this medium to encourage new members joining bitcointalk platform to make it a priority by first reading through the forum policies and guidelines so as to be able to  make good contributions and know how the platform operates in other for them to be able to scale through without having any issues.

20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Yet another saga looming to hit bitcoin. on: March 28, 2023, 01:01:43 AM
Ever since I got to know about binance, they have always been on a logger heads with the SEC for one offence or the other and sometimes this affects the Crypto market.

Of lately, binance  are at it again with
"Commodities and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) with binance arguing that the  CFTC’s charges “unexpected and disappointing” and said that Binance has worked with the regulator for over two years".  For quite some times now binance been acting funny with another claims by the CFTC also making more specific claims against Binance which " the regulator said that the exchange and its executives willfully evaded regulations, did not impose identity verification at times, and told customers how to avoid compliance controls — meaning that Binance has not fully addressed the details of the regulator’s allegations".

I noticed that the news affected bitcoin price as it dropped below $27000 but gradually picked up back above $27000.  So far from my experience I have had on this space, cases like this tends to affect bitcoin as binance is the world leading Crypto exchange and also have influence over the Crypto community and market.

Do you think this saga would affect the bitcoin if it looms?

Your opinions and contributions are welcomed. Let us discuss.
