Wetin make me bring up this topic make we discuss and share our opinions nah concerning the matter wey don ground for a period of time. Nobody be stranger to the word CBN (Central Bank of Nigeria) or BDC (Bureau de Change) as some of us wey be traders and lay men sef fit don hear of these terms. Normally, we know of how the naira don loss value for where the dollar dey and more possiblity of it dropping go still dey and we attribute the cause to how the government dey fail to put some necessary tins in place wey go fit grow the economy and strengthen the naira. The Bureau de Change or BDC nah a company licensed by the CBN to carry out only retail foreign exchange transactions but to the government, e come be like say them dey do pass themselves and as such con dey endanger the growth of the naira against the dollar. Now, e get where I read of how the implementation of the CBN Forex policy by the BDC don help strengthen the naira from the #1,660 e bin dey last week to #1,545. The government dey try their best to see say the naira fit come up and dey look everywhere wey dem fit put hand and if possible lay blame. So my question nah; who really dey impede the growth of the naira? The CBN for their negligence to make the rules of operation to the BDC clear or nah the BDC for doing pass themselves? https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://nairametrics.com/2025/02/16/bdcs-implementation-of-cbn-forex-policy-strengthens-naira-to-n1545-1-in-the-black-market-abcon/%3Famp%3D1&ved=2ahUKEwiCmo6B8sqLAxWKWEEAHZZUF2wQFnoECBMQBQ&usg=AOvVaw27u5PGClsrnC3lHdv2nMG0

I dunno if anyone's seeing Bitcoin price right now because I just woke up and checked the charts and saw $108,176.94. To be honest, I did not expect to see this amount being that as at earlier this morning, it was around $101k. What's your take? Are we going to be seeing more ATHs before the end of this month like we did see in November last year or will this be the best we can see? For me, I think there will more price surges and using this one as example of what's to come because of the inauguration day of Trump but we can still be disappointed still.. so what do y'all think?

I know say we don hear of this saying when we small becos our fathers and mothers go dey tell us in a way to encourage us not to give up on school since e go be the key to our success and greater opportunity but I wan ask now oh, education really be the key or e don loss or we need change am since e no dey fit open doors again. Wetin make me talk so? According to UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural Organisation ) recommendation, Nigeria sopoz spend between 15-20% of it's annual budget on the educational sector, but after proper review of the proposed budget for the year 2024, them notice say the amount allocated to education no even reach seven percent, when them come weigh am with overall budget, e no even scratch the surface as e come dey lower than 8.8 percent. The more the years dey go, the more the amount allocated to education dey drop and even though e no reach wetin UNESCO want, e still dey amongst the highest allocations with the health and defense sector but e still need to We know how poor the health sector dey because of two areas; no much funding which come dey make the doctors they comot dey go out to find greener pastures, in turn causing brain drain and two, the educational sector no dey encourage man and as such, nah half baked doctors we dey see and some fit use rush finish their med school. Now, with the way our presido dey dey unbothered for where education dey sotey when educational bodies like ASUU go strike, them no dey too pay them attention or when them finally do and students manage graduate but to see beta job go be another wahala, e dey justifiable to say "school nah scam?" E get wetin the government sopoz do to increase the allocation but to me e be like say them dey pinch money for that area upon the small one dem they push go that side. So I dey ask; education nah really the key?

You might wanna say "Satoshi nakamoto got his inspo on how to create Bitcoin from this man" and trust me, I won't agree less. this video throws more light on how vocal Milton Friedman was in his pursuit of a free market void of government interference. It's not like the economy back then was shaky that he(Milton) would make such a declaration but it's as if he foresaw that eventually, the government won't have to monopolize the economy and will rather have a strong competition. Milton Friedman was an economist who strongly advocated for free market capitalism. Known also as the founder of monetarism; a policy where the government controls the amount of money in circulation. He played a great role in the economy of the US in his days and is honored for many achievements. More information about his life's achievements can be gotten here. Could there be a possibility that Satoshi was inspired to create Bitcoin from the sayings of this man or was the invention borne out of a need to create a decentralized digital currency free of the control of government and central banks? Ps; dunno if this is the right board to post this, of not I'd be glad to move it to the right board.

Well, just as the title reads, it seems we'll be in for more exciting developments regarding the price of Bitcoin. Just this morning when I checked it's price, I saw $68,468 and now it's just shot up to $71,680.57! A new ATH! Well I'm sure this is just the beginning of more interesting things but I hope this trend continues. Is it the bull run that caused it's price to shoot up or is there a big whale buying? https://coinmarketcap.com/community/articles/65eed16bd332502ef6d4a31b/

Bitwise, one of the leading cryptocurrency asset management firm has set the pace for other spot Bitcoin ETF approvals in the US to publicly disclose its Bitcoin address holdings. The aim is to show how transparent and to further maintain the trust their customers have in them. I think this sets the bar for the others to follow but I'm a little bit curious by this action of Bitwise. Does this mean they can't still falsify records even as they've displayed their records to the public? https://bitcoinmagazine.com/markets/bitwise-becomes-first-u-s-spot-bitcoin-etf-to-disclose-btc-holding-addresses

I say make I table this matter for here and if say person don discuss this mata, my apologies as I no see any of such nature before I bring this one up. Wetin make me dey ask this question nah say after observation, I discover how some newbies wey register here, after them don drop some posts and e happen say one of the posts receive backlash, you go see say gradually, that user go start to dey scarce for here and before you know e go twy before you see them. So I wan know from us, wetin we feel say be the reason wey dem dey lose interest like that? Abi nah say some no fit stand criticism or here too hard or wetin? Abeg make we discuss.

With the recent problem wey dey go on for Rivers State nai make me come up with this yarn and I say make we all put bodi. None of us be stranger to the term or word "godfather" because people dey use am Wella as e no dey get only one use case. The term Godfather mean; a sponsor at a baptism or one having a relation to someone analogous to that of a male sponsor to his godchild. Such as one that founds, supports or inspires. This definition nah according to Oxford dictionary. For the Nigerian system and infact for politics at large, godfatherism nah a politically corrupt way of an influential candidate handpicking a less influential candidate to attain leadership in order to exert influence or authority. In lay man terms, this nah so that the Godfather fit still dey rule even when he no hold physical power of office. Now, we all know the recent issue wey dey happen for the State of Rivers between ex Governor Nyesom Wike wey be Minister of works for Abuja and the incumbent Governor, Sir Siminilaye Fubara. Though, the main reason behind this cata cata never dey revealed, sources believe say Wike don too press the governor, like say him no suppose get say in the affairs of the State. To him(Wike) Fubara sopoz be ceremonial leader. As everything wey get beginning, dey get end, oga Sim don tire and e no wan do again. The result of him disobedience; Wike don put call to impeach am and nah the mata we dey try to settle like dis. E no get how e wan be, once you become a godson to these overbearing Godfathers, just prepare to be a puppet and I come dey ask, e sopoz be like this? For how long wey we go dey need a certain approval or push before we get to certain pedestal for life? How una see this mata, is Fubara sopoz to fight for his freedom or e just dey raise dust wey go still settle after Wike don settle the right pipo? https://punchng.com/rivers-assembly-in-crisis-as-wikes-loyalists-move-to-impeach-fubara/

Well, this was a line provided by Edward Snowden. Yeah, the famous whistle blower Edward. He believes that the more applications are being filed, there are risks involved. Although the money being poured into the asset will help it's price to go higher, but these institutions could get more power and influence over the regular person when it comes to decisions and actions taken as regards Bitcoin. Edward also noted that as ETF applications are getting popular especially as big firms are the ones lobbying for a spot, there's the tendency of it "taming Bitcoin". Is this true or he's just talking out of a hunch? https://cryptopotato.com/edward-snowden-believes-bitcoin-etfs-are-taming-btc-bitcoin-amsterdam-live/

The lawyers representing out of luck Terraform Labs and it's CEO, Do Kwon, in the ongoing cae with the SEC have insisted against the extradition request made by the securities and exchange commission regulator. They submitted a petition yesterday that is asking the court to refuse the SEC request and insist it is impossible to have Do Kwon moved to US for further questioning over his involvement in the crash of the Terra ecosystem on October 13 since he is being held at Montenegro with "no scheduled release or extradition date". These lawyers further countered the SEC alternative request to seek for a preclusion order which will prevent Do Kwon from filing a motion on summary judgment as they believe such a request will affect the Court's individual Rules of Practice. It is worth noting that even Do Kwon's home country of South Korea are also seeking an extradition order to probe the co founder of Terraform Labs over the collapse of the Terra crypto project; an incidence which saw $40bn being wiped from the crypto market. This brings me to wonder what people see in these half baked projects that make them invest so much? Is that they don't make their research before hand? I know Daniel Shin is co founder but it looks like it's Do Kwon that has the lion share of the court battles. Or am I wrong here? https://bitcoinist.com/do-kwon-kicks-against-secs-extradition-request/

I don dey reason dis mata of Bitcoin in Nigeria and the way Govt dey make usage and operation a bit difficult and I come dey wonder weda e fit get a bit of breathing space if some of the big players in the business world pick interest in investing in them. Una go agree with me say naija no dey completely against cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin especially but them no also dey friendly but just like the way El Salvador and Central African Republic take bold steps in making am dia legal tender, una feel say government fit relax some regulations on am if big cats for the business world like Aliku Dangote, Tony Elumelu and others decide to add Bitcoin investment to their portfolio? Although this news nah old one oh but Nairametrics believe say Dangote for be the 6th richest man in the world if say him bin invest 5% of him moni for Bitcoin. And I know say e no too late. Another reason wey make me reason this mata say none of us be stranger to how fast the naira dey depreciate sharparly against the dollar and currently, 1dollar to naira for black market nah #1,009 as at time of writing and if we big ogas them fit do something, maybe e fit push the president to rethink him stance on Bitcoin because we need something wey go help our economic situation and so far, Govt seem to be running out of ideas. How una see this one? Make we yarn.

Wonders dem say will Neva cease. Nah dis mata I take my eye read this morning and I say make I bring am come here make we dissect. None of us here be strangers to the mago mago wey dey occur as regards the issue of government awarding contracts. here , Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Lateef Fagbemi believe say the incumbent govt fit put in place measures wey go curb corruption for the negotiation of contracts. Him say wetin dem observe na say majority of the drain on the nation's finance nah the "increasing utilization of litigation and arbitration " which invariably mean say some pipo dey use legal action dey collect contracts and agreements wey from the beginning don dey secured through bribery and corruption. Now, how una see this yarn? Una feel say true true the govt fit stop am or nah another wild goose chase this contri wan take us on?..

The Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprises (CPPE) don call on the oga chairmo of CBN, Olayemi Cardaso, to put for front the mata wey concern Foreign exchange. For a press conference statement wey them tag "Ten point agenda for the CBN Governor", MD of CPPE, Mr Yusuf Muda advise the governor to take note of those areas wey consan foreign exchange important as e go help boost the morale of both foreign and local investors to cook eye for the contri. Him believe say if Mr Cardaso put eye well for these areas, e go increase and strengthen the financial system. This advice nah unto say the naira dey sharpaly drop value as against the dollar and on Friday, naira bin dey trade at #995 for black market due to heightened demand and low, insufficient supply. Mr. Yusuf further encourage the CBN Governor to look into "creating an autonomous window in the banking system where the currency can trade freely without any encumbrance " to take support the existing Investor and Exporter exchange window. The MD of CPPE point out so many areas wey CBN Governor sopoz look into and correct but e get one wey strike me and I say make we yarn. He suggest say make the new CBN leadership address the efficiency of the financial system and I say make I ask; una feel say the CBN dey capable enough to fix the financial system without the interference of say, the president? Now, I know say as of 1991, them bin dey enjoy a limited autonomy but after 1997 that was removed and them come dey under the Ministry of Finance. And now, the Minister of Finance dey answerable to the president, una no feel say some of the policies wey CBN Governor wan implement go dey somehow tweaked? How una see this case? https://punchng.com/cppe-urges-new-cbn-gov-to-prioritise-clearing-forex-backlog/

I was just reading the news and stumbled on this. A day old piece but the information is still fresh and I thought to bring it on here for us to reflect and possibly share our opinions. Bitcoin has experienced a lot of events that have been pivotal since it's inception in 2008. When it was first introduced into the digital space, some regarded it with curiosity, while others outrightly disgust it. One of such pivotal moments was when it reached an ATH of $67,567 in November 8, 2021. Another one, which is the reason for this post is the milestone achievement reached by Bitcoin on it's journey of being recognized as a financial asset by US regulators. In September 17, 2015, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) officially ruled Bitcoin as a commodity, establishing a regulatory framework for Bitcoin allowing it to be recognized as a commodity alongside Gold and other precious metals. In their ruling, and according to section (1)a of the Commodity Exchange Act, commodities are "all services, rights and interests in which contracts for future delivery are presently or in the future dealt with" and Bitcoin suits that definition. This is an event worth celebrating as it helps us understand how far Bitcoin has come and this is especially noteworthy considering with how US SEC chairman, Gary Gensler has been closely watching other digital assets, trying to determine if they should be classified as securities. https://bitcoinmagazine.com/legal/bitcoin-marks-8th-year-us-commodity-sec-crypto

E get something I don notice for sometime now and I say make I keep quiet observe weda e go change but e still dey as e dey and I say make I bring am up for here. Pesin fit don raise this mata for here, but I check and I no see nai make I create am. My observation? I notice say for this local board, we don dey deviate from the local English we de nack for here and come dey use as oyinbo go call am "Queens English" for here which to me dey quite disturbing. My reason? I stroll enter local boards of other boards like the Polish, German and even Dutch. One thing dey there; except you are opportuned to hear those languages or you dey use translator, you no fit code wetin them dey yarn and e come sweet me unto say them dey promote themselves for the forum and members wey belong to that place go feel like them dey dia cabal away from home. I doff hat for wetin oga Mpa dey do for "African proverbs in Pidgin" and him make sure say nah strictly pidgin we dey nack. When I see us dey burse English for local, (no be say e bad to speak am o) but I dey feel somehow. E come be like say I still dey other parts of the forum. I just feel say as each of us no fit nack our dialects, make we use this one represent. I go like hear una thoughts on this.

Okay, so I'd appreciate some helpful insights on this. Ex US president, Donald Trump has turned himself in at Fulton County Jail just as the heading reads after facing 13 counts of felony tied to his supposed involvement in trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election. On Thursday, he made history by becoming the first president( sitting or former) to ever be detained or have his mugshots taken in a police file. Won't his going to jail, even though it was some few hours thanks to a $200,000 bond affect his contesting for a presidential spot? I don't really know how the American law works but could this hinder him from getting a shot? https://www.npr.org/2023/08/21/1195080489/donald-trump-georgia-booking

E get this mata wey don dey bother me and I say make I bring am here to get our different opinions. I don look and I never see such thread for here so I say make I drop am here. The naira which is local fiat of Nigeria which was declared a legal tender on 1st January, 1973 began to experience the first form of devaluation when the naira jump from 89kobo /$1 to #4/$1 and it has gone down hill from there. At present, the dollar is trading at #765 at I&E. Several factors dey responsible for the decline of the naira in present times; * Declining Forex supply * Net Forex inflow * New Forex market measure * Tinubu's promise * Objectives of the new Forex measures Detailed explanation about the above points dey hereEven heavy dependence on imported goods follow dey hinder the growth of the naira. E dey pain me say due to mismanagement and greed of we govt, the naira dey regarded as one the worst performing currencies in the world and is being ranked 21st after the Ukrainian Hryvnia. list of worst performing currencies according to legit.ng Now, as govt no go gree relinquish the hold on fiat money and also no go allow the use Bitcoin to take support the naira as El Salvador dey use Bitcoin alongside the dollar, wetin the government of the day fit to do to at least give small value to the naira??

Shocking right? Meh, Elon Musk looks to be trending again this year in relation to one of his company selling off Bitcoin. Last year, it was recorded that Tesla sold 75% of it's Bitcoin holdings in Q2 and now, Space X , the aerospace technology firm he owns sells off all it's $373m worth of Bitcoin at the drop of a hat! This move has further set BTC price to dangle on the precipice because as at yesterday, the digital currency was trading at $28,565.28 but fell sharply to $25,392.05 Thursday night before rebounding to $26,685. In the space of 10mins, it's price falls down to levels only experienced since June 20! Although, there's no clear cut reason as to why he did it, this is just a bad time for him to develop cold feet and sell because it could trigger other institutional investors to follow suit. I wonder if this move was borne out of a lack of confidence or just a temporary move by Space X because Elon Musk's moves can be flaky sometimes. https://www.investors.com/news/elon-musks-spacex-news-sends-bitcoin-tumbling/

Fresh trouble looms for former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried as prosecutors seek to use the personal notes of sister trading firm Alameda former CEO, Caroline Ellison as evidence against him.. The prosecution intends to present into evidence some handwritten and typed notes that Ellison had maintained to keep track of the conspiracy's activities, also citing notes from previous meetings that discussed the financial health of Alameda and it's liability to FTX. According to the prosecution, these notes are to memorialize info supplied to her to provide a reference to help carry out her role in the conspiracy. Just last week, he was arrested after the US DOJ discovered that the gag order placed against him to avoid making statements that might obstruct a fair trial was not enough. Sam looks to be in deep shit as Caroline, who used to be in a romantic relationship with him would be one of the key witnesses against him. Her notes also offer insights to the day to day operations of the allegedly fraudulent activities at FTX and this includes a recording of Ellison in a meeting on Nov 9, 2022 two days before FTX and Alameda filed for bankruptcy. Personally, I think this issue has lingered for far too long and hope this new evidence should see him cooling off in prison for a very long time for mismanaging the funds of both investors and users. https://decrypt.co/152650/prosecutors-use-caroline-ellisons-personal-notes-evidence-against-sbf
