1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Should I make the jump to segwit? on: May 15, 2019, 06:48:45 PM
Has it been long enough where I can safely move all my coins from legacy to segwit wallets to save on fees or is the adoption not as widespread as I think it now is?
2  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] SQRL BCU-1525 FPGA (Xilinx VU9P) With Waterblock and 16GB Ram on: May 14, 2019, 09:20:52 PM
*** I am only shipping to US addresses - please only bid if you have a US address ***

I am selling a SQRL BCU-1525 FPGA used for mining crypto-currencies.
I have ran the FPGA for a few minutes to ensure it works before packaging.  it was used for a short period of time mining yet but I did not have a dedicated machine for it.
This includes 16GB of ram

I have a second BCU-1525 for sale in a separate auction.  If you buy both, the shipping cost for one will cover both.

*** I am only shipping to US addresses - please only bid if you have a US address ***

I will also take crypto. Make me an offer these have been selling for around 3k on ebay without the waterblock.
3  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Starting a new mine! Would like some input on: March 28, 2019, 07:37:21 PM
So I would love some input from you guys about the following. I have been using valuehash.com to host my miners for some time and love their service. What I don't like is the US Customs fees that I have to pay and due to the tax increase I keep owing more. Myself and a few investors were thinking about starting a mine in Kosovo where we are friends with the government and can get low electricity 2-4 cents. Ontop of that there is no import duties cheap labor and real estate is also cheap. As far as the the temperatures go there the average temperature through the year is in the 50's and in the winter often goes below zero. In the summer it can spike up to 80f on occasion but for the most part 70f is the high. The humidity is decent but using any modern airfilters will help with that but on the plus side the humidity is also during the cold months which is a plus. So evap cooling should be viable during the hot months. As far as stability and harmonics of the grid we would be looking at a system setup by seegco power to fix that as many mines in this part of the world often have downtime due to the grid.

As far as our business plan it would be to host our own miners in this facility and then once ironed out offer a hosting solution to others. The benefit we see by doing this is A we control our mine and benefit from low power costs and no duties on importing machines. Then for our customers they benefit off 5-8c electric prices and also the no import taxes too. We of course would benefit on the price a little but depending on how we setup the pricing but that would be used to help in paying for the rent and for staff to be on site and other costs associated with the mine as well as paying off the equipment such as pdu switches and firewalls and all the other electrical equipment.

I would like to have some input from you guys as to what you think is best. I also was thinking of trying to do an ico gigawatt's style but on a smaller scale to scale fast but I am not sure about this as that would require a lot more work and scaling a lot faster than I imagine but is viable none the less.

Thanks guys and keeping mining!

4  Bitcoin / Group buys / Whatsminer M1 33TH/s 65w/TH , Nov/18 Batch on: September 19, 2018, 02:14:31 AM
I have another party interested in ordering a bunch of M10's and if we purchase over xxx we can get them for roughly $1,450 USD for the November batch. Which is $138 cheaper than they sell them on their website. Now I figure buying these in bulk also saves on shipping costs since they would be shipped in bulk and not individually. I also figure it would cost roughly $50 sent via UPS anywhere within in the lower 48 States with insurance per miner.

I am curious if there are any other parties interested in throwing down on an order with us. If we were to order over 500 units we could get the price even lower but between myself and my friend we were not looking to order that many but if enough people are ordering a large number this can be done.

I am not too fond of showing any of my recently used wallets but if anyone wants another wallet or such just private message me.

5  Bitcoin / Hardware / Antminer S9 Hydro: Bitmain's New Water-Cooled 18TH/s on: August 24, 2018, 04:51:46 PM

BEIJING, Aug. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Bitmain, a well-known cryptocurrency equipment provider, officially announced the release of its flagship product Antminer S9 Hydro. It is the eighth product launched this year, after the introduction of Antminer S9i, ANTBOX and Z9mini, etc. Antminer S9 Hydro pioneers a water cooled system, creating a new mining model with low noise and high energy savings. This new miner supports SHA256 algorithm and it can mine mainstream digital currencies such as BTC and BCH.

Antminer S9 Hydro has a rated hashrate of 18T and a wall power consumption of about 1728W. Unlike traditional air cooled miners, S9 Hydro adopts a water cooled system for heat dissipation and it can mine along with a specific power source: the APW5. Individuals or families can use a S9 Hydro-Hex external water circulation module for heat dissipation, while in large mining farms, low noise and high energy saving mining effects can be achieved with outdoor water source.

For the first time, Antminer S9 Hydro is adopting the most innovative water cooling design available for heat dissipation. Thanks to the customized and high-precision water cooling module, S9 Hydro can support the direct introduction of outdoor water source that meets the water quality requirements and quickly cool down the computing boards and other components inside the miner. During operation, the chip temperature difference is only around 5C, which can greatly improve the performance and stability of the miner.

Mainly focusing on noise reduction and energy saving, S9 Hydro helps to decrease the maintenance cost of mining farms

Antminer S9 Hydro also performs strongly in terms of noise reduction. The water cooling system reduces not only the internal temperature of the miner, but also most of its noise during the operation. Relevant data shows that under the same working temperature, S9 Hydro can decrease the noise by up to 20dB compared with air cooled miners.

In large mining farms equipped with outdoor water source, the reduction of chip temperature will help save about 8%-12% of the electricity, an obvious energy-saving advantage. Unlike the use of fans of air cooled miners, the water cooling system can directly enter the inside of the miner to dissipate heat, and ensuring the long-term operation stability.

In addition, S9 Hydro also has the advantages of dustproofing and easy maintenance. More than 95% of the power consumption can be moved external via the water circulation system, which greatly reduces the required air volume of the miner, effectively avoids dust deposits inside the machine, and decreases the risk of short circuit or corrosion of internal components. The innovative design of S9 Hydro contributes to the maintenance of large mining farms and the reduction of operating costs.

Antminer S9 Hydro is officially on sale from today.

It is for the chinese market only right now but they can be found on alibaba.com
6  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Antminer S9 Volt Rocket Ship firmware mod! ~ALL S9 MODELS INCLUDING S9i S9j~ on: June 22, 2018, 05:18:33 AM

S9 Volt Rocket Ship

Quote
This is made for the 13.5th and 14th S9i.

Download: https://github.com/taserz/S9-Volt-Rocket-Ship/raw/master/bmminer9v

Quote
The following is good to run at 800mhz and gets 17th/s and is STABLE and will almost max out the bitmain 1600w psu. This one is running at 8.8v and there are a few other small modifications that seemed to work better for the s9i. If you have an s9i use this one below for a stable 17th. I need some people to test this on 13.5 and 14th S9 non i models.

Download: https://github.com/taserz/S9-Volt-Rocket-Ship/raw/master/bmminer880

Upgrade instructions:

  • Flash Fixed Frequency firmware.
  • ssh into your piner. For example, download and run Putty and connect to the ip of your miner.
  • Log into the miner in Putty root:admin
  • Type /etc/init.d/bmminer.sh stop
  • Run WinSCP and connect to your miners ip.
  • Go to remote directory /usr/bin and rename bmminer to bmminer.old (so we can always put it back)
  • Browse on your local side to wherever you downloaded the copy of bmminer and change their permissions of the file to executable.
  • Copy the now executable copy of bmminer onto your miner.
  • Now you should see bmminer and bmminer.old which is new and old.
  • In putty type: /etc/init.d/bmminer.sh restart
  • Got back to your miners web console and you should see in the kernal log it is running at 9v.
  • Go to minersip./cgi-bin/minerAdvanced.cgi and change the frequency of the miner. I would start at around 675mhz and run it for a few minutes and check for hardware errors.
  • Keep increasing the mhz until you find the spot where there are to many hardware errors happening in the miner status then roll it back some mhz until it is stable.

Now you can benefit from running your s9 like a Rocket Ship.. Get it 9Volt Rocket Ship... It is running at 9 volts muahahaha

You can now increase your voltage up to whichever works best for you.
If one of your fans is not working or is not reporting it to speed it will not complain and flood your kernal log.
I believe I have it so no fans can be plugged in and it will hash perfect for immersive cooling.
If you flashed to the fix frequency prior you have full fan control.
If you are looking to hash at a lower speed at lower voltage I changed the following 650mhz to 631 8.8v 631 to 631mhz to 606mhz 8.7v 581mhz or less 8.6v. I might be changing this completely based on feedback.

Please post below any issues you have so I can tweak the file a bit more. Also please post what frequency you are able to run stable at and please let us know if it is a 13.5th or 14th unit. The goal of this mod is to make it so you can squeeze as much power as you can out of the bitmain psu so if you have cheap or free electricity you can benefit from the increased speed. If any of your miner turn off and don't immediately turn back on it is because the psu when into protective mode because it was drawing to much power. Please let me know if that happens to you and list which bitmain psu you have as some are capable of 1600w and some 1800w but we have noticed the ones rated at 1600w go much higher than that.

Please also post what temps you are running at and at which frequency.

Known Issues:

Hashboard do not report temps but will still mine. Possible good and bad. If you have a hashboard with no temp reading it may work just fine with this mod. The miner will still stop mining if it overheats.

If you have any issues stop bmminer from putty and in WinSCP delete bmminer and then rename bmminer.old to bminner which will be your stock settings.

7  Bitcoin / Mining support / Antminer S9 14th/s issues! on: November 20, 2017, 06:05:40 PM
Can anyone help me trouble shoot this. I just got a bunch of s9's 14th/s and I have not had these issues in the past. I have 2 s9's that have 1 board that run exceptionally hot, hot enough to cause the s9's to stop mining due to over heating.

I have one s9 that complains about missings asics... Not even a week old.

I have 2 s9's that won't power on sometimes. They would not boot so I swapped the psu and figured it was the psu. They worked for a few minutes and powered back off only to not power on again. I tried a different outlet and so on. I tested the psu I just used on another s9 and it turned right on. So why is the psu not turning on either of those two but will boot the others. It did boot temporarily as I switched them. It makes no sense.... Sad
