1  Economy / Economics / Counting the cost of a ww3. on: April 13, 2024, 10:57:51 PM
The the Russia - Ukraine war is one war that the global economy is on what I will call the borderline of recovery from and here is another conflict in the Middle East  region somewhat a major supplier of energy to the world. if this conflict should escalate with other major countries (which I chose not to mention) getting involved the global economy might be hit with worse recession than we are currently facing.

More devasting would be for those importing nations mostly those of  Africa, against this backdrop and in extension this can also have a significant effect on the price of bitcoin not performing high as investors have been predicting in anticipation to it's halving circle of a bull run as some actors are forecasting of an indeterminate impending ww3.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The future of cryptocurrency. on: February 23, 2024, 08:41:21 AM
Just looking at the wave of cryptocurrency and going with the rate of adoption, where do you all see the future of cryptocurrency in the next 20years or more from now. Are transactions going to be more of in cryptocurrency than fiat in all ramifications of society as it concerns finance?
3  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger don dump ECOWAS. on: January 29, 2024, 05:07:18 PM

Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger have collectively decided to exit the West African Economic Community (ECOWAS).
This  action by the three West African countries no go dey unconnected to the incessant pressure from the west African bloc ECOWAS and in extension AU wey the put pressure on military  government's of these countries say make them return back to civil rule as the military junta dey currently oversee and dey rule their respective country under military rule talk on say the civil government wey been the rule the height of corruption been done too much to the neck sef.

Now me come the wonder how this three countries now wan take the run their economic activities with their neighbouring countries wey  dey for West Africa and be members of the ECOWAS because as it be now any diplomatic economic relations go don get K-leg. I wan ask, how una see this countries their action, unah think say it fit worry them economically for trading relations and other bilateral activities or this countries fit survive am even without their membership for the ECOWAS. This their decision eim make sense at all or them overdo am?

Make we tok how we see this matter.
4  Economy / Trading Discussion / Newbie traders, work on yourself. on: January 27, 2024, 10:52:55 PM
Newbies when it comes to trading you have to work on discovering yourself and not to basically depend on a  third-party or trading signals before you can execute a trade. You can rely on signals from those you view as professionals and still would not make profits and the reason for this isn't far fetched from the truth. It is because since it's not your analytics you have no comprehension to build confidence on the basis to why the signal request you to either sell or buy which makes any little falllback, retreat or retracements of the market in the process of your trading causes you a cold feet and extreme fright.

So the earlier every newbie interested trader understands that the period  he/she could use to seriously learn how to trade no matter how short the period could be in acquiring the right ideas/knowledge about trading to make you selfreliance, you'll be exhuming yourself from days to years of reliance on signals that not even have the potent to making you profit compared to that which comes  directly out of your own self-made analytical work.
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / The is always on gambling, never the individual. on: January 03, 2024, 09:31:56 PM
The other day someone was talking about how he hates gambling as it nearly ruined his life, and within my mind I was like, no it was not gambling that nearly ruined you it was actually you that tried to ruin your life and that's because you refused to gamble responsibly and discipline yourself by not been capable of differentiating money meant for gambling from money meant for other projects in your life.

Why do people blame gamble for their own act of irresponsibility. No one is talking about their own part in their story of bad experience's with gambling, all we get to hear is gambling is bad and a useless activity. Why?
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Can I dodge KYC using the his medium. on: December 28, 2023, 12:21:56 PM
Is it possible one can dodge KYC verification request after winning a big amount of money and decides not to withdraw a lump sum but bit by bit in smaller amounts. I have read many posts talking about how they wanted to withdraw the money they won but due to the amount they wanted to withdraw was big, they were asked  pass kyc verification because they never did when they first registered.
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: December 12, 2023, 11:29:30 PM
Apparently this is a true live event happened in my State this week and almost everyone is talking about it. About a young man that killed himself after a gamble loss, he even left a message for his family and friends before taking his life.  But I wonder why should someone take his own life  just because he lost  #2.5 million to gambling an amount  equivalent to just about $3k. I can relate to his loss but taking your life is something unimaginable and unjustifiable to do. No matter the regrets suicide isn't an option to be taking as a solution , you are only leaving bigger pains  behind for your loved ones.

This is just another reminder to we all gamblers that no bet is sure and guaranteed, don't ever use an amount of money you are not comfortable to lose just because you feel convicted in your mind that the game will play as predicted. There's no such thing as sure bet in gambling.

Question: Is there any amount lost that can make you commit suicide?

If yes, then don't ever use such amount to gamble.
8  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Abi we dey head to anoda cash scarcity again but in different way? on: December 07, 2023, 01:59:34 PM
My people I hail.
E get wetin I don the observe as we enter this month of December, several times I don go bank them the curtail the amount of money Ii gat withdraw from counter and even for ATM machines you go see say many times them go say money no dey even at working time wey bank dey on operation. Abi we wan go back to another cash scarcity as we experience am towards the end of December last year up to march/April this year. Just to stay on the safe side make all man try collect cash hold keep for house in case say things happen the way I dey reason am. Becos it be like other Nigerians don the fear say wetin happen early this year fit happen beginning of next year but I'm different dimension and becos of that them don decide to hold money keep, if this continue much then bank go start do their sufferman nonsense again.

I just hope no be wetin I they think shaa.
9  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin price $45k by ending of 2023: AI prediction on: November 05, 2023, 11:10:47 PM
Six AI chatbots forecast bitcoin to reach $45k by December 31 2023. From the  article the test was first carried out June this year which it was predicted that the price will get to $45k by the end of the 2023 year, and on the 3rd of this month of November 2023 another query test was carried out using 6 different AI chatbots to inquire what the price of bitcoin could be by end of the year and they all gave predictions that points to $45k at most. And the most intriguing thing about this which caught my attention is that it was same price prediction range it gave sometime June this year when the first test was conducted.

Quote
Four months ago, Bitcoin.com News engaged with six generative AI chatbots, prompting them to forecast bitcoin’s value at the close of 2023. The collective consensus of these AI systems anticipated BTC to land between $40,000 and $50,000 by the conclusion of the year. With the year now winding down to its final two months, we repeated the experiment. The updated predictions from the AI chatbots have arrived slightly more conservative than the June estimates.
So I decided to bring it to the forum to know about what other forum members think about this AI prediction. Is it a prediction you can rely on or it's just one of those common bitcoin  price predictions of the decade we are used to from different angles, is there anything special about this one .
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Stop the self entitlement claims on others gamblers winnings. on: November 02, 2023, 08:29:59 PM
As elucidated in detail on the image the story of a gambler in my country who won a whopping amount of N15.6M  that's about $16,000 and out of his generosity gifted one of the punters a sum of N100k an act which IMO could be referred to as an appreciation for doing nothing.

Getting to X  (twitter) some people started dragging and criticizing the gambler and calling him names, that the N100k he gave to the punters out of N15.5M he had won was too small and that he could have done better. Below in the image  is one of many tweets from the critics.

On the contrary against the critiques some persons where on the side of the gambler saying he the gambler was too magnanimous to have released a N100k as appreciation for someone who did nothing for him or added nothing to his winning bet

It's kind of becoming a norm in the gambling house for people to act with some sort of self-entitement to other gamblers money just because it was money won through gambling. Some even go further to argue that using so little amount to winning so much amount of money you ought to share it with others in a ratio of 60:40. What a nonsense!

IMO, there's no law in gambling mandating that a gambler must share part of his winning with eith friends or fellow gamblers in the gambling house, for that, you owe no one an apology either or not you chose to give a penny whatsoever. Let stop the self entitlement claims towards fellows gamblers that won big amount of money. The attitude is disturbing.

11  Economy / Gambling discussion / What's your nice hit to leave the casino. on: October 22, 2023, 04:38:31 AM
As a gambler, from when I leave the house down to the casino prior to getting there I normally project specific amount that should I probably hit am turning around to leave for home immediately. And am quite sure am ain't the only one who have for one  had this plan thought wrapped in his head, some persons might have too.

Just in case, what amount will be looking like a nice hit for you to leave a casino just immediately for maybe your first, second or third hit on the machine as you have just walked in?
12  Other / Beginners & Help / If you could..... What will it be? on: September 23, 2023, 07:04:03 PM
A lot of crazy experiences has taken place in the crypto space knocking people down financially and it is plausible that nasty things can still occur in the future. But...

What if you could delete an occurrence from happening in the cryoto-world, both past and current events making it that they don't happen or didn't happened. What would it be?

As  for me it is the FTX crash saga which led to many persons losing their funds that could have yield some profits by now. It was one of the saddest period for many in the crypto world.

How about you, what would it be?

13  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Fuel stations altering pump to face sanction — FG on: September 22, 2023, 09:28:44 PM
The government of Nigeria thru the midstream and downstream petroleum regulatory authority don tok say them go penalize pipol wey get fuel station wey them adjust the fuel pumps.

Source:https://punchng.com/fuel-stations-altering-pump-to-face-sanction-fg/
As e be, no be news say all the fuel stations pump for the country including NNPCL own say the owners them adjust all finish, 1litre of fuel no be 1lotre again. Even as government con increase fuel pump price wey the sell now from around #650-#700 per litre  depending the station you attend still them no tink am to readjust back to normal 1litre.

The area I wan now make we rub mind na the area if the government and wetin them tok. Cos we know say this our government many times them the talk but no the do anytin and especially wen na action wey go affect big big men them. Cos plenty of dese fuel stations na governor's, senators, economic tycoons and oda politicians na them get am.

So me I dey doubt say this matter go get head, e go just be like case of a barking dog wey no get teeth to bite.  Or abi na me just dey underrate the government on wetin dem go fit do?

How una tink am too nah!
14  Bitcoin / Mining / Whats your thoughts: Next-Gen Bitcoin Mining Machine With 1X Efficiency Rating. on: September 19, 2023, 11:17:53 PM
First of all let me make it clear am not a miner and have a little or no clue about mining as am not a tech savvy. All we do on the other side is to trade and hold in addition to having some security knowledge. Now let me stop here on that note. Lol.

So guys I stumbled on this article while doing my normal reading routine and I decided to bring it here to know how miners in the forum will react about this development by freely expressing their take about  it by way of a discussion.

16  Other / Beginners & Help / NEWBIES: Balancing security risk. on: August 29, 2023, 09:06:29 PM
We have relentlessly been discussing about bitcoin security of our wallet. Tightening the security of our data files against the backdrops of losing our bitcoin to hackers. And that awareness is something very important to every bitcoiner.

Although today I want us to take a glimpse into being very cautious in balancing our risk to avoid going too extreme in the efforts to securie our bitcoin wallet so we don't end up losing the coins in the bid to tighten security, which is another form of higher risk altogether.

Quote
In July 2011, a well-known bitcoin awareness and education project lost almost 7,000 bitcoin. In their effort to prevent theft, the owners had implemented a complex series of encrypted backups. In the end they accidentally lost the encryption keys, making the backups worthless and losing a fortune.

If you ask people that lost their bitcoin out of their excessive security to prevent theft of their coins you hear most of them say it's more painful to them losing their coins in that manner compared to a loss due to malware or hack. Therefore, while taking necessary range in protecting your coins in your wallet don't forget to balance the risk.

17  Other / Beginners & Help / Am I using the right plan? on: August 27, 2023, 04:07:53 PM
Today I was listening to my junior sibling and a friend of his having a conversation about a Ponzi Scheme that they both have invested in and how the friend to my bro has received his profit after the given number of days you need to wait for your profit to mature for withdrawal, and from the conversation that of my bro is yet to mature for withdrawal.

As the conversation was still lingering between their two I had to get closer and joined in the discussion acted like one with an interest to also invest too, from which I started asking them questions about the platform, the name, how it works and from what channel do they get informations about the platform.

From what they  said::
* The platform name -  KDB
* How it works - that after investing you have to wait for 5 working days for your investment to mature and yield profit before you can start making withdrawal, and for each person you bring in to register through your link you have a 10% interest of whatever amount they invested.
* Channel of information - telegram group channel.

After gathering all those informations from them I wanted to explain to them how what they are into is called a Ponzi Scheme and how it can crash at an instant and they lose their money and that it's a syndicate of scammers that's hiding behind the platform waiting for the right time to elope. I felt like talking to them about bitcoin and how's of guaranteed security than any of those schemes or cryptocurrency.  But when I looked at their countenance about this socalled scheme I was moved to hold my peace and let them learn from the hard way, as it will be more understood by them if they learn that way maybe they will give audience and interest to bitcoin when I'll have to introduce it to them after they must have been stinge by the KDB Ponzi Scheme. Because from their expressions there's nothing I will say at that time negative of the scheme that will sound truthful or make sense and I wasn't ready for argument neither.

I do want to know if my idea or decision on this is the right way?
And also have you come in contact with people that invests their money in any ponzi scheme and tried talking them out and what was their response ?

Meaningful opinions are welcome.
18  Economy / Trading Discussion / Trading not for everyone! on: August 24, 2023, 09:12:28 PM
Just another piece of advise to newbies that just starting their journey with cryptocurrency, crypto trading is not for everyone. If you are unsure of your capabilities to trade it will be beneficial to you to just buy and hold, and be taking each opportunity of every dip on the market to Dollar -Cost-Average.

You're peacefully on track, and not losing out on anything. Trading has sent a bunch of persons back to their past. Cheesy

There is a time for everything, and the bull market is usually the time for holders. I am sure when the bull market returns as we're expecting, if you hold good project's you will make a good profit.

Don't follow the crowd, follow what has profitably proven to work for you. In cryptocurrency market it is time that makes the difference in our profit-making.
19  Economy / Trading Discussion / What could be the problem here? on: August 17, 2023, 09:44:04 PM
What do we think could be the cause for a trader that has been experiencing a win and lose repetitive occurrences in his trades.

Like he places a trade today he makes profit and the next day when he places another trade he would lose it, whereas the next day he then makes another profit and lose it the next. And this happen been repeating for more than a month.

Has anyone had such experience? If yes! Then how was or could it be solved or stopped?
The situation is getting psychological.
20  Other / Off-topic / Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: August 08, 2023, 08:19:05 AM
We live in a society where people have different views about something and these views could be drawn based on different constituent like personal sentiment, religion, ideology and experience. And speaking of gamble there are those that view it as an irresponsible activity to embark on and whoever is into it is tag as irresponsible guy, for some it beyond being irresponsible but a sin something that is evil,  while some others out of an ugly experience of a loved one that got ruined by it due to extreme addiction.

These factors has made a number of gamblers to keep their gambling habit a secret doing all they could not to let friends and family  know they gamble. And it does seem like they ain't proud of what they're doing.

But why continue in what you're not proud of by keeping it secret cause maybe you're worried about what people may say, how their thoughts about your person might change. Or how you might loose ties with someone you hold dear to. And many other reasons that follows.

Those that keep their gambling habit a secret is it that they're not proud of what they are doing?.
