1  Economy / Gambling discussion / I created a Discord Channel - https://discord.com/invite/beUm75Ft on: April 08, 2023, 01:24:22 PM
I've created a Discord channel where 30 people have joined in the last 2 days.
I want to create an online community where we can encourage each other and share daily tips and betting strategies.
I have posted 5 tips so far and 4 have won.
I'll be posting my big wins and losses there (similar to what I've shared on this forum).
There is a lot of money to be made in the next few months with the NBA Finals and French Open.
It is 100% free with no fees.

2  Economy / Exchanges / Binance Banned in Australia on: April 06, 2023, 08:29:19 PM
Have you guys seen this?

Binance has had its license cancelled in Australia.

"Regulator says Binance must cease trading by 21 April after it incorrectly classified hundreds of retail customers as wholesale investors".

Thoughts?

3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Does your country tax your gambling winnings? on: March 26, 2023, 07:40:01 AM
I live in Australia and we have no taxes on all gambling winnings (lottery, hose racing, sports betting and casinos).
I know the USA has gambling taxes and I think it's ridiculous.
You are risking your own money and if you win you are penalised.
I'm curious as to how many other users have to pay taxes on their winnings.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Blockchain Transactions Per Second on: March 18, 2023, 05:08:28 PM
The Bitcoin Blockchain can only process around 5 Transactions Per Second (TPS) give or take.
When you compare this to VISA which has a TPS rate of 2000+ it seems very low.
If Bitcoin is going to become mainstream in the future the TPS needs to increase greatly.
Is there a way to increase the scalability whilst also maintaining a high level of decentralisation?
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Some of my big losses (Gamble Responsibly) on: March 13, 2023, 12:00:21 PM
Hi Guys,

A few weeks ago I posted my $417,000 win from a $300 bet (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5441169.0).

Since then I have received multiple private messages from people who are offering me money in exchange for betting tips and advice.

I am making this thread to address the above matter plus the issue of responsible gambling.

Firstly, I will NEVER ask for or accept money or payments from anyone on this forum. There is enough information, statistics and knowledge for free online that you should never pay for these services. Anybody who tries to sell you "tips" or "picks" is most likely a scammer who is only interested in taking your money. Do your own research/analysis online for free it really isn't hard at all.

Secondly, the amount of private messages from people I have received is crazy. There is nothing guaranteed in gambling and you can quickly put yourself in a financial predicament by trying to win large amounts of money fast. The most important things to remember when betting is to gamble responsibly and only bet what you can afford to lose. This amount is different for other people and if you are not betting within your means you are heading for disaster.

I feel like people only post their winnings and not their losses so I decided to show you the reality of sports betting below.

The first photo is of a $646,000 bet that I lost by one leg. I took Stan Wawrinka (clay-court specialist) to win 2-0 against Sumit Nagal who isn't a good player and has never been ranked higher than 120. Wawrinka lost the first set and then ended up winning the next two sets
6-0, 6-1.

The next photo is a $1195 bet to win $1M. I won all the hard games but lost because of four matches that were paying $1.09, $1.15, $1.20 and $1.22. These are matches I thought were "guaranteed" and all lost in close games they should have won.

The last photo is a $20,000 bet I did on MLB to win $52,000. I thought it was going to be an easy win until the San Diego Padres got a bad call by the umpire and they ended up losing a match they should have won and I lost my $20,000.

These examples should show you how hard it is to win big amounts and I hope everyone who reads it understands nothing is guaranteed when it comes to gambling. Luck plays a HUGE part in gambling and the weather, the referees or an unforeseen scenario can be the difference between winning or losing.

Please only gamble what you can afford to lose and if you don't have discipline or control you shouldn't be gambling. I can't stress that enough.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How many crypto wallets do you own? on: March 04, 2023, 05:50:08 PM
I was reading about the Luke Dashjr BTC hack and it got me thinking if people have multiple crypto wallets and addresses.

I think having a cold wallet that isn't connected to the internet plus numerous online wallets is a precaution everyone should take.

The benefits being;

- If you are hacked you won't lose all your crypto assets

- If you forget one private key you won't lose all your crypto assets

- Smaller transactions (since your crypto will be dispersed across many wallets) will not draw as much attention thus increasing privacy.

I will be taking these steps in the next few days to give myself peace of mind.

I'm curious if others think I'm being too paranoid or have carried out some of these practices.
7  Other / Politics & Society / Rupert Murdoch & Fox News lied about January 6th on: March 02, 2023, 12:39:48 PM
Has anyone been following this latest development?

Fox has admitted that they knowingly lied about Trump's stolen election claims.

This is absolutely crazy.

The fact that people like Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity can go on air daily and blatantly lie to the viewers is disgusting.

It is now clear that both left and right wing news outlets in the USA are dishonest and cannot be trusted.

8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane on: February 28, 2023, 01:12:27 PM
We are a few days out from UFC 285 and the main event is Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane.

I think Jon Jones is going to win this fight comfortably and is a deserved favourite going in.

Although Jones is 18kg (almost 40 pounds) lighter, he has a much longer reach advantage.

I have watched a lot of Ciryl and to be honest I wasn't very impressed. He struggled against Ngannou and was dropped by Tuivasa.

I think Jon Jones makes a statement and may even submit Gane.

I'm curious on what everybody else thinks.

Please post your predictions below.
9  Other / Politics & Society / Trump is going to DESTROY DeSantis in the GOP Primaries. on: February 25, 2023, 12:14:48 PM
Ron DeSantis cannot beat Trump for the Republican Nomination. I repeat DeSantis has no chance at beating Trump.

The latest Rasmussen Poll has Trump winning by double digits and I think he'll win by more.

Trump only needs around 30% of the vote to win given the amount of potential candidates in the field and I truly believe he'll get that just from the MAGA voters turning out. DeSantis doesn't even have a base outside of Florida.

I really believe DeSantis re-election victory has given him a false sense of hope.

If you guys want to win some easy money I suggest placing a bet on Trump.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / My $300 bet won $417,000 on: February 25, 2023, 03:24:54 AM
Hi guys,

If you followed my previous topic about how I turned over a million dollars plus with no bonus from the sportsbook (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5434831.msg61599879#msg61599879) you may be interested in this thread.

I closed my account with the above sportsbook and was going through my account history and found this bet I placed two years ago.

I spent many hours researching and selected 19 legs that I liked. I placed $300 and collected $417,000. I only chose sports that I have a high knowledge of and tried to bet with no emotion. The first match was a rugby game on the 18th of September 2020 and the last match was a futures bet for Kansas City Chiefs to win their conference and make the Super Bowl on the 18th of January 2021. I told a group of my friends to copy my bet but they were impatient and didn't want to wait four months. Only one of my friends followed my bet and he placed $100 which won him just under $140,000. I live in Australia so a lot of the matches were Australian Rugby games.

The bet was originally worth $686,000 but Niko Price could only manage a draw against Donald Cerrone (after having a point deducted for a BS accidental eye poke) so the UFC match was voided and my winnings decreased to $417,000.

I find sometimes it is best to place future bets instead of match bets if you can find some value.

I have a few similar bets which won $644,000 and $258,000 so I will try to find them and post it shortly.

Always remember to only bet what you can afford to lose and gamble responsibly.  Smiley Smiley

11  Other / Politics & Society / Can DeSantis beat Trump in 2024? on: January 22, 2023, 06:13:46 PM
I'm an Aussie who only got interested in politics when Trump ran for office.

I was in my mid 20's when Trump announced his presidential campaign and nearly everyone I knew who was my age or younger became fixated with American politics.

Trump blended Hollywood and pop culture with politics which caught the interest of a new demographic.

I have noticed that mainstream conservative media and political figures are all in on Ron DeSantis. I remember reading a quote about a prominent GOP donor stating "DeSantis is Trump without all the baggage". Rupert Murdoch reportedly called Trump and told him he was going to support DeSantis too.

Oddsmakers have DeSantis as the current favourite but I wouldn't rule out Trump winning. Don't forget he got close to 75 million votes in 2020 and MAGA will turn out in huge numbers for him.

I'm curious to here what chance you guys give Trump to win in 2024.
12  Economy / Exchanges / Was Binance aware of the impending bankruptcy of FTX? on: January 22, 2023, 06:00:07 PM
Am I the only one who believes Binance knew in advance that FTX was going to collapse?

We all know that Binance played a significant role in the downfall of FTX and CZ disliked SBF.

I recall reading CZ's tweets last year and he seemed to be in communication with SBF. Did he know the terrible financial situation that FTX was in but hide it from the public?

Binance also divested its complete stake in FTX before bankruptcy. Is that a pure coincidence or something more sinister?

Nobody has benefited more during this whole fiasco than CZ. Perhaps more things will come out in the future but as it stands the whole situation is shady.

13  Economy / Economics / How is the cost of living in your country? on: January 19, 2023, 04:28:14 PM
I am a 32 year old male living in Australia.

Today I purchased some fresh fruit, a loaf of good bread, good quality milk and 2kg of chicken drumsticks for my German Shepherd (he eats human food only) and the cost was close to $50.

I feel this is the first time in my adult life I have genuinely noticed the rising cost of goods and services especially groceries.

Petrol is over $2.10 a litre and my water and electricity bills have also increased by about 15%.

I really feel bad for the elderly pensioners in this country. They are definitely struggling.

I would be curious to read of the experiences others around the world are having in regards to their cost of living.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / I turned over $1.344M with Sportsbet.com - https://imgur.com/a/gFB14gl on: January 15, 2023, 05:23:43 PM
I have been gambling since the age of 21 (now 31).

I place the majority of my bets with Sportsbet who are the largest online bookmaker in Australia.

Between June 2022 and November 2022 I turned over $1.344M and over $961k in August 2022 alone.

I was at the pub today with a few friends and they all received $100 bonus bets and I received nothing.

They each turned over less than $500 in the month of December 2022 and $300 in the month of January 2023.

I turned over $200k in December 2022 and already $88k in January 2023 so I called to ask why I haven't received any bonus promotions after spending a lot of money and the answer given was because I have a winning position against Sportsbet in the last 12 months.

This has left me VERY angry and proved to me there is no loyalty amongst these gambling companies regardless of how much money you spend.

I have decided to permanently close my account on 30/01/2023. The reason for this date is because I have a six figure NFL bet (Kansas City Chiefs to win their conference) which is playing on the 29/01/2023.

I am writing this to remind you guys that these greedy companies have ZERO loyalty or respect for their players and to never forget that. Make sure you have accounts with different sportsbooks and don't be afraid to look around for better offers.

A friend of mine has introduced me to his sportsbook and I will be signing up with them ASAP. He bets between $10,000-$20,000 a month and has received very generous bonus offers for the last 18 months straight.

I have posted my activity statement ending in November 2022 and will upload more when I have the time to access them.

If you look at the bottom it will you show you my monthly stakes from June 2022 - November 2022.

15  Economy / Gambling discussion / 2023 Australian Open Prediction on: January 08, 2023, 06:16:52 PM
The Australian Open is 7 days away.

Novak has been in amazing form since winning Wimbledon last year winning 4/5 ATP events.

Since Alcaraz pulled out with injury I can't see anyone other than Novak lifting the trophy.

What do you guys think, can anyone beat Novak?
16  Other / Off-topic / Novak will win the 2023 Australian Open on: January 06, 2023, 06:37:59 PM
The 2023 Australian Open is 1 week away.

Since Wimbledon, Novak has entered four ATP tournaments and won three. The won he lost he made the final and arguably should have beaten Rune.

I have been watching him closely and he seems to be playing more aggressively and his forehand looks better.

This is his favourite Grand Slam by far and playing Novak at Rod Laver arena is almost as hard as playing Rafa at Rolland Garros.

I truly believe this will be one of the most dominant title runs by Novak especially after he was deported by the Australian government last year. He wants revenge.

Fun fact, I placed a six figure (fiat) bet on Novak in 2021 when he won the title and plan on betting the same amount with BTC after he completes the Adelaide tournament in a few days.

What do you guys think?
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Why do people store their cryptocurrency on exchanges? on: January 06, 2023, 04:26:38 AM
I am in the process of purchasing a Ledger Nano offline wallet and it got me thinking about why people store their digital assets on crypto exchanges.

These exchanges are susceptible to hacking, insolvency/bankruptcy, misuse of customer funds (FTX) etc.

What would happen if Binance got hacked tomorrow and lost the majority of its cryptocurrency? Would they be able to reimburse customers or would they become insolvent?

I asked my close group of friends how many store their assets on exchanges and only 1 out of 6 uses an offline wallet.

The recent incident with Luke Dashjr confirms that you are always at risk of being hacked no matter how vigilant you are.

Will give my thoughts on the Ledger Nano once I receive it.

18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 02, 2023, 01:27:26 PM
Happy new year people!

I'm curious as to what the ratio is for users on this forum in terms of sports vs casino betting.

I personally bet on sports 95% of the time because you can actually make money on it.

Slots and other casino games are a waste of time in my opinion.

I can't understand why people would waste their crypto on casinos where the odds and algorithms are stacked against you.

I am planning to put 3-6 BTC on Novak Djokovic to win the 2023 Australian Open.

I just need to find a trustworthy sportsbook who will not only accept the bet but pay me too.

I've heard and read too many horror stories.

19  Other / Beginners & Help / New to Bitcointalk - Where to safely purchase Bitcoin? on: January 02, 2023, 08:14:39 AM
Greetings and happy new year to you all! Smiley

I've been following this website for a few months and decided to finally create an account.

I'm from Australia and want to purchase 3 Bitcoin and store them offline in a cold wallet.

I have never purchased cryptocurrency before but plan to invest heavily in the next 12-18 months.

Given the recent collapse of FTX and other exchanges in Australia and around the world I thought it would be best to post here and get your opinions before making any transactions.

I plan on purchasing 3 BTC from a large and reputable exchange (Binance at this stage) and then storing it on a cold wallet.

My three questions are;

1- If I were to transfer my BTC from a cold wallet to a hot wallet would this weaken the security of the cold wallet or increase my chances of being hacked?

2 - Where can I securely buy BTC from without paying ridiculous fees?

3 - What are your predictions for BTC in the next 12 months?

I apologise if I have posted this in the wrong location and for the newbie questions. I will be reading and researching like crazy in the next few months and hope to become a productive member of this forum.

Cheers,
MiliMil
