1  Local / India / Breaking: Bitcoin Halving Event [2024] is over! on: April 20, 2024, 08:43:11 AM
So, the long awaited and expected Bitcoin halving event has now been officially completed. With this halving miner's reward has been reduced from 6.25BTC to 3.125BTC, which is kind of sad for the miners. Post, halving everyone is expecting a bull run either by the end of the year or next year. We already saw a short bull run at the beginning of this year due to Bitcoin ETF.

My question to you guys is what are your expectations from Bitcoin halving and when do you think the bull season will be coming back?
2  Local / India / Binance Exchange is coming back to India. on: April 19, 2024, 08:40:58 AM
I came across the news in the Economic Times where they mentioned that Binance has agreed to all the terms and conditions of the Indian government. They will now be FIU compliant and will adhere to the tax regulations of the Indian government. Time for me to move to another International exchange which is not bowing down to the pressure of the Indian government.

Binance will be paying a penalty of $2 million to the government of India which does not look okay as the penalty is less. I might be speculating here but I think they have come up with some kind of understanding with the government to pay a low penalty which we will see in the future if we receive and many other Indian users receive a demand letter from the Income Tax department.

An official announcement by Binance is yet to be made.
3  Local / India / Good News Nirmal Sitharaman is not contesting Lok Sabha poll on: April 09, 2024, 07:34:49 AM
I am late to post this news on the local board. The news came out last month on the 27th. I am quoting below a piece of the article where she has said that she does not want to contest for the upcoming elections.

Quote
Responding to a query on whether she would contest the election, which begins on April 19, Ms. Sitharaman said: “No. The party did ask me but after thinking about it for a week or ten days, I said maybe not…

If she doesn't contest for the upcoming elections she then cannot be in the office of Finance Minister. Will the new FM of India after the election will have an understanding approach towards Bitcoin and crypto?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Ethereum Price Predictions? Predict the new ATH! on: March 05, 2024, 02:07:10 PM
The way the Ethereum price has been for the last couple of months shows how big this crypto is and how far it can reach. With the current market condition, what do you think will be the new price of ATH for Ethereum? Do consider these three points when anyone is predicting ETH:

  • Bitcoin dominance and ETH dominance
  • Ethereum new upgrade and speculation behind it
  • ETH getting accepted in spot ETF

As for me, ETH will break its ATH in March and become unstoppable after the Bitcoin halving and if it gets approved by the SEC. What do you think?
5  Local / India / Beware! Gov Planning a Cracks Down on Crypto Traders Evading Binance Ban on: February 06, 2024, 04:50:02 AM
The talks between Binance and the government have failed and the government of India is now planning to take action against those who are still using Binance for crypto trading. I found an article being published in a famous news media website and I think it is over for Binance in India. I am quoting below the important piece from that news.

Quote
"Meanwhile, the government is also working with banks to formulate action against traders who are using VPN (virtual private network) to access Binance’s website to circumvent the ban and continue crypto trades illegally."

If you are still using Binance for crypto to fiat transactions then stop doing it right now. The government is in talks with the banks to identify those bank accounts where fiat was credited from Binance P2P. In the worst case scenario, those bank accounts will get frozen and account holders will be punished legally. If you have funds in that account then it is better to withdraw funds ASAP and keep the account balance nil. Do not transfer funds to another bank account as they will freeze as they can trace the trail of money.

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL and XRP have the highest market capture? on: January 27, 2024, 03:42:17 PM
Have you ever imagined why these 5 cryptocurrencies are in the top? Have you ever thought why a coin like USDT, which being a stablecoin is ranked 3rd on the list of coins with a big  market capture?

None of us thought about it as it doesn't affect us personally as a single investor. The reason is that we consider us first than the market sentiment. Tether being known to be controversial has established it place because it has the trust of its users.

XRP again a controversial coin is ranked 6th after so many legal cases as again it still holds the trust and faith of its community. The same is applicable for the other cryptocurrencies.

What makes me laugh is that all of those crypto as discussed are still consider an altcoin without any significance. They are coins that will not survive long which was predicted about a time after 2017. Yet, they are alive and happening without any difficulties.

Do you think they will survive or no

7  Local / India / Why is Bitcoin getting dumped after the ETF approval? on: January 23, 2024, 03:47:13 AM
On the contrary, Bitcoin getting pumped it is being dumped after the approvals. It has now gone down by 10%, which for many here won't be big according to Bitcoin standards. The news circulating this fall is that FTX has been selling Grayscale Bitcoin every day. I am not sure about the amount but, I do remember reading that miners sold around 25kBTC. Whereas some are saying that it is natural for Bitcoin to go down before halving and the prediction is that it may go to $35000 before the halving.

What do you think of the reason for Bitcoin price going down? Is it normal for Bitcoin to go through a major correction before halving or it is happening because of Grayscale?
8  Local / India / 12th of Jan 2009 when the first Bitcoin transaction was made. on: January 12, 2024, 02:13:19 PM
This is 2009 when the global economy slowed down and the internet was not a big thing then. Job loss was quite common at that time as it was due to the global recession.

At that time someone not known came up with a concept that time was very new and amazing. The concept was to have a decentralized environment for financial transactions and gain financial freedom.

What was new for everyone at that time was the concept of Bitcoin. A coin that works using the internet with node-to-node architecture and without government influence. A coin that is cheap for global transactions. A coin that can help a struggling individual regain his lost status.

Coming back to 2024 Bitcoin is getting legalized as a legal currency in a country. Next, it can now be traded and invested on the US exchange after ETF approval. The concept of Bitcoin now is different as with ETF an investor would only get a paper and not Bitcoin. Do you think this is correct?

Do you think ETF was good for adoption or it is good for those early investors to cash Bitcoin? Do you think those early adopters and investors will drag down the Bitcoin price after ETF approval?

In the end, was the Bitcoin transaction made by Satoshi an eventful thing to celebrate? What do you guys think?
9  Local / India / Apple removes Binance, OKX and Kucoin from App Store in India. on: January 10, 2024, 10:13:03 AM
Bad news coming for those who have been trading on Binance, OKX, and Kucoin. Apple has removed these three exchange apps from its app store, the news that is being circulated in the mainstream media says that the move comes days after nine offshore virtual digital asset services providers were sent show-cause notices for AML. The blocking orders were sent 10 days back to Apple however they are still showing on Google Play Store. I did check that the Binance app is working fine on my mobile phone and I think it would be a good idea for anyone who has funds in the Binance wallet to transfer them to a personal wallet.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / What is the difference between a BTC Mixer and No KYC casino on: December 03, 2023, 04:39:44 PM
After the 1st of January, all Bitcoin Mixers would be banned from the forum, that is what I understand after reading theymos topic. My question is for everyone! Consider a casino platform that does not want its users to go through KYC. They have a smart contract that directly forms a bridge to wallets on either the Ethereum blockchain or the Binance chain. They use the same technique as a Bitcoin mixer wherein they convert deposited Bitcoin to what we know as Wrapped Bitcoin on either of these two or other blockchains, isn't that a mixer when you withdraw the deposit amount to your chosen wallet?

I understand that it is not possible to deposit Bitcoin on a smart contract-based non-kyc casino. What I understand is that it is easy to convert Bitcoin into other altcoin-based Bitcoin and then what will happen? Will theymos again ban them? I have other options to hide my Bitcoin identity such as I can convert my Bitcoin to XMR and then it won't be easy to trace it.

What do you think will be the next option for Bitcoin mixers, is it no KYC casino or Monero?
11  Local / India / How many of us check the Child Boards within our Local Board? on: November 18, 2023, 12:33:49 PM
I have been here for some time now and I have seen zero engagement on topics that are on the child board. My question is why? Why are we not checking the child boards? What different are we doing than those who are not assigned a full local board? Take this for an example, one of our child boards had a review campaign for their product. I saw it and found spammers applying for the campaign.

It was about the Utopia review campaign - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5470663.0

Are you guys who are active here using Bitcointalk notifier or the Telegram notifier? I am not into Telegram and therefore I use the forum notification using my email ID. I request everyone who is always checking the local board to check in the child boards and you will find a lot of opportunities to make extra income.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BlackRock ETH, ETF application! Which L2 will pump in next bull run? on: November 10, 2023, 12:56:16 PM
After BlackRock application for Ethereum ETF, we saw the market reacting positively. Ethereum price rose to $2000 for the first time this year. Currently  it is still going strong and I am not sure where will it end. The below are the list of top 10 cryptocurrency projects that are providing layer 2 solution on the Ethereum Blockchain.

Which one do you think from the above list is the best in terms of speed and fees? Which one do you think would pump in the bull run and why?
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What's happening with Bitcoin transaction fees? on: November 07, 2023, 12:58:55 PM
I was checking mempool and saw the transaction  fee sky rocketing. I am not sure what happened suddenly as these fees are way beyond anyone's imagination. Later on, I did found out that Binance has listed Ordinals (ORDI). I want to ask the community whether the severe high transaction fee occured because of the listing?

I went ahead and check the price of $ORDI on Binance and found that it is trading at a price which is way beyond it should be. I am sharing the screenshot below.

Anyone here who can give a solution to this issue? I feel they would continue to make the transaction fee in those Satoshi figures . This situation would not help small investors and traders as they would avoid these kinds of transaction fees.

Edited on 10th of November 2023

As expected it is now beyond the control of anyone except those who were part of the development. They should come up with a solution otherwise the whole idea would crumbled.

Look at this after I posted before the current price.

This has to stop or everything that was beautiful would become a nightmare. Those who created it have to come out of a unique solution.

These fees are insane and out of the limit of anyone who is like me. Imagine someone wants to transfer $10! Do you think these atrocious fee would help them.

Today's date: 6th of December 2023.
14  Local / India / Will Bitcoin reach $150K in the next Bull Run? on: October 30, 2023, 07:00:15 PM
By March or April of next year, we will see the next halving occurring and we all know what halving does to Bitcoin. For those who are new here, halving means Bull run, and in general, it happens after the halving in 1 year. As we know there is a race going on in the USA where every financial giant is trying to get their Bitcoin ETF approved by the SEC. Considering these two factors what do you guys think would be the new Bitcoin all-time high?

Please use the poll and comment below on why you think the price of Bitcoin will break the old-time high and the reason why it will reach a new ATH.
15  Local / India / Kerala HC Shields Innocent Crypto Traders From Account Freezes on: October 23, 2023, 09:26:22 AM
What happened?

The Kerala High Court issued a ruling that will safeguard individual bank account holders whose accounts got frozen due to the cybercrime investigations by the police. The high court directed the banks not to freeze the account but only to withhold the disputed amount received through UPI until the investigation is completed.

My Question

The question that came to mind after reading the article is what happens with the money that is received through the IMPS or NEFT payment system. Understandable most P2P vendors provide UPI transfers. Some of them do not and have a good reputation in the P2P marketplace. Does this ruling cover those Bank account holders who receive the money without using UPI?  I did not find anything about it in the article.

What are your thoughts?

The ruling would give a boost to those individuals who still have their accounts frozen. They can now take a sigh of relief knowing that their account has a chance to get unfrozen in some time after this positive ruling.
16  Local / India / Why Indians are not Adopting BTC over Gold? on: October 16, 2023, 01:56:17 PM
As Indians, we all know how much Gold plays an important part in our lives, inheritance, and solution to a crisis situation. In our culture, gold plays an important role. We are taught to keep our family's gold safe and add more to the existing amount. The reason is simple, which is to safeguard the future of our child or the generation that will come after us.

The belief that Gold is an asset in times of uncertainty, a standard of purity, and an object of desire needs to be changed. We are in 2023, we Indians have now sent a rover to the moon and next, we might be on the moon. Still, we buy Gold because of our belief in gold and our obligation to our elders, why not change this attitude for the future of our children, why not diversify our portfolio of assets that we can give to our future generations?

Let's do a small comparison as to why we should think about Bitcoin before we buy Gold. I will write about Gold and then about Bitcoin, you can add to my reasoning in your replies.

Gold VS Bitcoin:

  • Gold has a limited supply, which we do not know.
  • Bitcoin has a supply of 21 million, which we all know
  • Gold has an inflation hedge of +5%
  • Bitcoin has a store value and +100% inflation hedge

What do you think would be the biggest difference between Gold and Bitcoin?
17  Local / India / India is creating a Global database of Crypto Exchanges. on: October 04, 2023, 11:24:13 AM
I recently came across this news on Economic times. All global CEX have been or are being requested to share their user database to the government of India. Every major CEX has made it mandatory for its users to pass KYC, it will be easy for them to collate the data and share it with India. India took this responsibility as it had the Presidency of the G20 summit 2023.

The problem that India will face is that these exchanges are based in countries that are tax heaven, those exchanges cannot be forced to share the data. India has time till March 2024 to come up with the database before the next G20 summit in 2024. Once the database is created it will be shared with the G21 group to fight against crime commited using cryptocurrency.

What do you think will be the impact of this database to the Indian community that are using International centralized exchanges?

Thanks.
18  Local / India / Clousound: The Deflationary Crypto for Music Lovers? on: September 26, 2023, 01:13:55 PM

Everyone has Spotify installed on their mobile phone, if it is not Spotify then you would have a local app for streaming music on the go. None would pay you to listen to songs, like, comment, and dislike the song on their platform. They would charge you a monthly or yearly subscription amount to use their platform.

With Web3 applications coming out daily, there was void space in the music streaming and engagement sector. Clousound noticed this problem and found an opportunity to create a rewarding platform that incentivizes its users. Using the BNB Smart Chain every active user would be paid a fixed amount of $CLS token for listening to songs, liking, commenting, disliking, and much more.

The feature that made me write about them was when I found out on earn $CLS link that, anyone can earn their token by uploading any song without worrying about copyright issues. Meta and its products have been doing it for some time, I am assuming that they are following the same terms.

The total supply of Clousound tokens goes down with each transaction, making it deflationary. I think it is an interesting project which I believe is unique, that is the reason for me sharing about this project here.

I am not shilling or promoting this project, I am not part of the team. I felt the project was unique, not sure if other projects have been already discussed here.

Where is $CLS being traded?

You can trade $CLS on PancakeSwap using the contract address 0xf848110edfF52f506CB0F256cbB641B5Ef9c9c2d.

Do you guarantee the project won't quit?

I do not guarantee anything. You have to make your own decision.

Future of this application

If you're into crypto and music like me, check out Clousound. It's a cool way you can earn while enjoying the tunes you love! Let me know what you think if you end up trying it out.

19  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum help needed. on: September 18, 2023, 12:03:43 PM
This is a noob question! I downloaded the wallet on my Mac Book today, installed and then created a new wallet. While creating I saw that it showed me, Wallet = default_wallet. I did not understand earlier but later on I realized it meant wallet name. Now, that I have created a wallet, I would like to change this name. My question is how to do it? I do not see any option within the wallet that allows me to do it. I thought of changing the file extension but I concluded that it might corrupt the file.

What can I do now? Should I create a new wallet or can I still change the name?

Thanks.
20  Local / India / UPI ATM! Another achivement in Fintech by India on: September 06, 2023, 10:13:12 AM
You all will agree that the quantum of new tech emerging in our country (especially in Fintech) in the last decade has been unimaginable. Recently a new fintech UPI ATM has been launched. You can use any UPI payment processor like Paytm, phonepe or gpay to withdraw cash from a UPI ATM by only scanning the bar code dispayed on the ATM machine.

Banks were already providing similar service known as cardless cash withdrawal. The problem was that it can only done on that particular bank's ATM using the banking app. With UPI ATM you are able to withdraw cash from any banks saving account and you don't  need to use that particular bank's ATM.
