1  Economy / Economics / 2024 & Prediction of World War III - Effect on Cryptocurrencies on: December 31, 2023, 01:05:15 PM
As 2024 approaching many predictions has been made about economic crisis that will shake the world with many countries rising up to fight against one another

If these assumptions/predictions are to be true then what will be its effect on cryptocurrency most especially Bitcoin. As we know during war, economic activities are always grounded where many will be thinking only about their survival in terms of living than economic dealings and gains

Was recently discussing with a friend who is of the opinion that since Crypto/Bitcoin is a digital kind of money it should not be affected by any natural disaster or war but for me I believe it will be affected since crypto/Bitcoin is striving because people are making use of it and if these people are affected by war, which will disrupt flow of doing things the normal way, then crypto will die a natural death at least for that period.

Although we both agreed that even if there would be a World War III, participating countries will not be more than 6 going by previous wars but these countries will be economic powers that can/would ground economy of others countries depending on them. Hypothetically, say Russia, it might be difficult to pump oil to neighboring countries and other countries abroad that depend on them for their survival and might not be able to power countries including  Satellites and Base stations (BTS) to generate data. Without data, cryptocurrencies will be useless as there would be no trading of any sort for that period.

Will like to know your view on these as 2024  prediction for Bitcoin, Ethereum investment is encouraging and we don't want anything to truncate this flow. For me I believe there won't be any war significant enough to affect investment in Cryptocurrencies.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin images that made my day on: June 05, 2023, 06:15:16 PM
Image is said to speak louder than voice. I search many things about bitcoin daily and I love what I found on the internet about it today and they made my day. This varies from the billboard of a fat badger that has been fully feed with bitcoin money to many urban transits where bitcoin is boldly written and advertised.

This somehow made my day, I am happy to see them, people are not ashamed of the good news. I look forward to the day I will do mine.

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mempool hit my usual 15sats/vbyte today on: June 04, 2023, 04:59:36 PM
Mempool has hot discussions on the forum in May, it got me goose pimples and the congestion in it has lasted for a full one month. The good news is that is getting better from how it was 3 weeks ago when it was at over 650sat/vbyte. I became happy to see it at my normal bitcoin transfer fee of 15sats/vbyte today. The 15sat/vbytes is my usual fee from the first day I started sending bitcoin, I like to maintain that. The highest I sent for the congestion was 40sat/vbyte two weeks ago, but the light after the tunnel is likely here.

The mempool congestion has been fast decreasing in the last 3 days, the memory of 1G/300MB was last seen as 863MB/300MB. The notion is that a lower memory can be seen by this time next week and fee can be lower than 9sats/vb.

The ecstasy will be high if I got this correctly.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Danger of posting your bitcoin address online on: June 02, 2023, 08:49:04 AM
Like the the topic implies, that was what a friend made me feel due to his panic on why will his bitcoin address and transaction be tracked by a third party after forwarding what I posted here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5454672.0 to him and other friends.

Himself and some other friends are those I do not want them to miss out in bitcoin investment, a reason I every time took my time to explain and any beginners may learn from this short response.

1- You bitcoin address in not your bitcoin but a house for it just like your bank account.
2- Your bitcoin address can only be be compromised if you share your personal details or private key along with sharing the address.
3- People may say that your bitcoin address can be likened to your bank account and and email address, I have read it online myself. They are right to some extent, but the privacy of bitcoin is far better. Why? Through your bank details, your details can be known by diggers, same goes for email address if you use your real identity to open it.

But for bitcoin, nothing will be revealed relating to you by merely seeing your address. It is again good to use non-custodial wallet for keeping your bitcoin safe and own total right to it.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / 8 websites to check bitcoin address and transaction statuses on: May 31, 2023, 04:27:49 PM

6  Other / Beginners & Help / A simple way to view your undisplayed Imgur images on: May 21, 2023, 05:16:26 PM
The feelings is bad as a newbie when I would have been enjoying an article but suddenly the image will not show because the forum is not working with Imgur anymore. It happened again today when I was reading an article, but I found a simple solution to it if you so are so interested since the authors are not bothering to replace the pictures.

N.B: The example is just for an explanation, it is not targeted towards anyone. I again removed the / from [/img] to stop it loading like an image.

How to view the image:

Click on the edit bottom on the image, it will show a thing like this: [img]https://i.imgur.com/d4bQG17.png[img]

Just remove the [img] and [img] from the left and right sides.

It will look like this: https://i.imgur.com/d4bQG17

You should go ahead to copy and paste it on your browser to view the image.

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Budget For Halving on: May 20, 2023, 02:43:59 PM
Hearing more success stories of halving and reading from https://www.cointree.com/learn/bitcoin-success-stories/, my whole thought changed about bitcoin and halving, the time is worth putting on the calendar. The big month may be April, May or June, I can't find a site that is 100% sure of this. The thought only pointed to the fact that i missed a life time changing opportunity. I can not be well on this ever again unless I make money from bitcoin, it is then and only then that I can be happy.

I am seeing out budgetary plans to invest exactly $90,000 in bitcoins in 2024. When others are impatient, I usually plan. The plan is to get this from my saving and loan. The action for more savings was kick started last month, it can see me through to the time of the investment when I will stop.

The plan of taking loan is also there, that sum to be invested has to be completed and a business money will be realized. This is awesome and is gonna take me only 2 years to pay my loan comfortably.
8  Economy / Speculation / Know your time to HOLD on: May 18, 2023, 11:56:05 AM
My take on bitcoin in 2023 by the way it bought and was pumping pumping and pumping was like it will never stop. I thought it was my year to make my money and keep much of Bitcoin in my wallet. But the dullness of over 2 months has changed my mind. The scenario poured coldness in my mind but again let me know that bitcoin behaves like an asset and asset has the time to buy and sell not the way I thought it will always be be buying.

I have waited for the price to reach $25k for me to start pumping my money, it never reach there. I grows impatient daily, I won't wait more than 1st of July, any price I see it is what I buy.

I don't like to sound desperate, do I sound desperate or determine to make money?

Bitcoin HODLing for years can not be a lost affair.

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I look forward to the day Bitcoin will have backer/tender on: May 16, 2023, 02:05:05 PM
Bitcoin has a good project supporting it and the decentralization of the network is best in the crypto space. Satoshi has left everything in our hands, it's left to us to think and determine the future development of the network. As people are trying to develop the core, the backers offline will be a game changer in my thought.

I thought of it today that if banks have issues with their network, this will certainly bite but people will continue to transact with their paper money. What about bitcoin when there is no internet network?

With this suggested initiative, people can transact even when their gadget is not available. This is a huge issue that got me thinking if there could be possibility of having a note or any tenders in place offline in which the holders can later scan with their gadget and get their value credited when power and internet is later restored. It could be a coded paper or precious material depending on the value of BTC in it.

It might be a huge project in the future, much might not be said of it now and people might think it is not even necessary, but it will do a lot more in adopting it and having more access to it when power and internet is fails.
10  Other / Meta / [Curiosity] What is the offence of Imgur? on: May 14, 2023, 01:15:03 PM
Lately I noticed my posted images via https://imgur.com are reading something else like "bitcointalk image proxy invalid image." The first thing that came to my mind was that the image has been corrupted somehow but was lucky to see other topic's images displaying same and similar errors. The most important post and service aspects of the forum was not left out.

I was able to use another URL to upload another image yesterday and the image is still there as I write.

Since I can't find anyone talking about it, I am curious as a new member to know what is happening on https://imgur.com. There must be a reason for an image uploading site to just be disabled and the alternatives were left alone.

Good opinions will be appreciated.

Newbies should learn from this fast confirmed transactions tricks

My message today may not freak the senior gurus here but has turned me to a mini celebrity in my office and locality. Bitcoin transactions got many people frustrated for two weeks and counting, some transactions do not know the time they will get confirmed as I write. But I get my transaction confirmed everyday since I know about ViaBTC.

What you don't know, you don't know and what you think is no more a secret to a community is a cherished secret elsewhere. ViaBTC was never known to me or people around me, this is until many of us were complaining to my hearing, two transactions of mine were stuck too, but fortunately I got to know ViaBTC via online search. It was a stressful search and many that I tested did not work until I finally got it right. The people I recommended it for has been thanking me, so I thought I should let newbie and novice that are in my shoes to know this.

https://ibb.co/16rrYGQ

The requirement is simple, just go to https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator and paste your transaction ID at the requested place and click on Free Submission or Paid Service depending on what you want. The difference is that the paid service can accelerate any transaction fee, but free submission will only accelerate the transaction provided the volume of a single transaction is ≤0.5 KB and the transaction fee rate is ≥ 0.0001 BTC/KB.

Everybody I told that has been using 17sat/vb has been singing praise in less than 15 hours.

12  Other / Beginners & Help / What d fxxk...my money is hooked mehn on: May 02, 2023, 06:02:33 PM
I have been vocal against bank to fully appreciate bitcoin, the surprise of today falls my ego. A transaction of $344 has not gone through, 14 hours have passed. It was until I shared my frustration in the office that mempool orientation came on board.

Look what I found via https://mempool.space: No Priority:12 sat/vB=$0.48
Low Priority: 91 sat/vB=$3.63
Medium Priority:94 sat/vB=$3.75
High Priority: 118 sat/vB=$2.83

I always use 15 sat/vb with no problem for all my bitcoin transactions.

Any idea what the heck is going on?
Why the so much high fees this time?
Any idea of when my money is gonna be received?

In all, suggest permanent solution to this problem for bitcoin fans if there is any.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Too many bills killing crypto on: April 29, 2023, 04:20:40 PM
Source: https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2023/04/28/us-house-will-have-crypto-bill-in-2-months-mchenry/

The US House and Senate moves closer on crypto regulation in the US, a step I perceived as desperate and can't be crypto friendly. The two chambers are not taking crypto bills lightly, in 2 months they should pass a bill, they are coming up with ideas upon ideas but in any way should the ideas be anti-people, the US will resist it. Rep. Patrick McHenry, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee confidently gave a yes reply when asked if the US president would sign the bill within a year.

The confidence surprised me, but the more fear is futuristic in that any careless bill passed by the House and Senate could be an excuse for other countries and might be reducing the independence of cryptocurrency more than how it is.

Bitcoin decentralization system may blind them but can not be transacted only by self-custody wallets that can help that, the centralized system will keep it better lively as it is and will be infringed upon by the US legislature decision.

They claim it will target Security concern and Cybercrime, I don't have problem with that. I know when they get away with this, it will not end there, they will pass another stiffer bills in the future and will gradually be weakening cryptocurrency status.
14  Economy / Speculation / Office halving argument on: April 17, 2023, 06:35:09 PM
I can't hear words again within my friends and colleagues in the office when I discussed that I finally joined a bitcoin forum created by Satoshi the bitcoin founder. They were like, it's a lie, he has no forum, this generated arguments and most of them did not believe me, but I don't care. This gets me wondering how unpopular this site is and how can we possibly make it more known to the masses that can learn from it.

That apart, I am not new to the halving discussion and I again threw it on board and told them they should not joke with it. Not knowing that better people with such an idea are present and are fully ready to invest prior to the next one without telling others.

So I decided to listen as many shared their ideas. Theirs agree with what I just researched overnight on the coming opportunities. Satoshi is just a genius and has cleverly planned things that many will have a lifetime benefits from.

The summary from my reading and our educative discussion is that the final halving will happen in 2140 when the 21 million pegged is reached. The information gathered shows that halving does not have a specific day and month but happens in a 4-year period.

The first one was on November 28, 2012, with block reward of 25 bitcoins
The second is on July 9, 2016 with block reward of 12.5 bitcoins
The last one was on May 11, 2020 with block reward of 6.25 bitcoins
The next one will be between April and May, 2024 with block reward of 3.125 bitcoins

By our calculation and agreement, bitcoin can sleep between $150k-350K by January 2025. Don't dull yourself, gather the money you can gather. Don't say I did not warn you for this lifetime investment.

-Guru says so-
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I, Guru is aware of bank and fiat evil and use BTC where alternative is possible on: April 16, 2023, 06:15:54 PM
This is my first post here but pardon me if I am so blunt, that is so me. The love I have for BTC made me open this account and I wouldn't consider bank an option if I had my way, it's a cheating business where one's money is under custody of those that can use it as they like without saying Thank You.

I'm happy a bitcoin forum like this is available, it will help me pour my mind once in a while and show my appreciation where BTC has helped me.

I got to realise that people are just in the dark, the government, politicians and banks are like cult running a scheme they labelled bank. Banking bsuiness is planned on cheating people and they said to believe is the place where money is safely kept and vital to countries economy. I also agree. But can it also explains why they will mismanage funds and the government will quickly come to their aid? They launder money for politicians for both benefits and use an unexplainable scheme to perpetrate their operations.

But bitcoin is not like that, it is fair, decentralized, plain and give you control of what you own. I love it.

It drives me crazy when it rings in my head that my deposits waste in banks as they give me a little interest after using 90% of my deposit for business. More curiosity is when I thought about Mr A, Mr B and Mr C depositing a total of $250,000 and their account balances are showing Mr A=$75,000, Mr B=$150,000 and Mr C=$25,000 but the bank still loan John Smith company the $225,000 from the deposit of those men even when the three depositors still have acess to their money at any time. The banks will do a mere paper work and create figures in favor of John Smith company. Now, the company has access to the money of Mr A, B and C just as the three men also have access to their money. How do they do this?

You keep your money with them, they charge you for maintainance and other unexplainable fees, they loan your money out without your permission and they still charge you high when you withdraw or transfer electronically. It drives me insane.

No one can do without bank and fiat due to the way it has been structured with the economy but anywhere bitcoin can work in place of them without putting myself at risk, I will defintely stick to it.

-Just pouring out my mind, hope is not too loud?-
