1  Economy / Gambling discussion / What do we make of chaos at Liverpool's trophy parade? on: May 27, 2025, 11:27:14 AM
Ever since I watch some clips on the disaster that broke out in the Liverpool's parade, I've not recovered from the trauma of seeing such heartlessness of the highest order.

What began as a jubilant celebration of Liverpool's Premier League triumph turned into chaos and heartbreak when a car rammed into parade goers, injuring at least 50 people, including four children.

Going through clips on this incident brings a lot of questions to mind;

1. Who could possibly be responsible for this kind of evil?
2. Is it possible that this act is carried out by an opposition fan?
3 what happens if it's later found out that this act is carried out by an opposition fan? Would it attract any form of penalty to the club?
4. How does such driver get pass all the security details available on ground and was able to carry out this sort of roll act?

These and many more questions begs for clarity in an a sorry incident as this.

2  Economy / Gambling discussion / don't make a life threatning BET. on: February 25, 2025, 07:25:52 AM
A 200-level Chemical Engineering student just lost his life for partaking in a bet in an attempt to swim across a river. the condition is that if he is able to swim across the river, he gets about $0.3 which is equivalent to about 300 naira. as a typical Ijaw man, i understand how this works and usually, during swimming in the creek for fun, a lot of bets goes on ranging from bets on who can last longer under the water to who can swim across certain rivers even with zero safety measures in place.

these are all life threatening bets that has taken a lot of lives just in a bid to proving a point that you are a good swimmer or to win the token that is promised to the winner of the bet. its all gambling and this can be really fun if safety measures are in place but without your safety as a gambler, there are bets you should never be a part of. other forms of bets that falls in this category can be betting on who can drink the highest bottle of beer within a stipulated timeframe or even taking some risky ride that is life threatening. life is always going to be more important than any short term fun or the reward that comes with winning these kind of bets.

gamble responsibly and gamble allowing your brain work for you. it's not all bet that are worth it.

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What's your worse p2p experience? on: December 17, 2024, 07:20:41 AM
I have read about how some traders on some p2p platforms can be dubious and didn't know how serious it can get untill I had a first half experience with one.

I carried out a p2p transaction with a user who was known for his false claim to have sent out fiat when he hasn't done so. I was careless not to have gone through reviews on his past trades with people which would have helped me overcome the potential risk of lossing my asset to him.

I initiated a transaction with him, he sent a false receipt that he has sent the money while I'm yet to to see the alert and asked that I release my coin from my end. I waited to see the alert but didn't till the time elaps for the completion of the transaction. Dude later agreed that his money was reversed but yet refused canceling the transaction. Frustrated me for almost four days before customer service stepped in after I made up to two appeals and cancelled the transaction from thier end.

It was a traumatizing experience I would have avoided had it been I went through the negative reviews of the user. I have learned my lesson on the importance of going through the user review and checking how trustworthy the person his before initiating any transaction

Have you had similar p2p experience? I Would love to know if there are cases where you've lost your coin to the buyer or instances when the system might automatically send your asset to a buyer that claims to have sent you money when he hasn't done so. others might learn from you.

5  Economy / Gambling discussion / When you're winning it's fun but when you're losing it's addictive right? on: July 23, 2024, 06:27:08 AM
Growing up, my dad would tell me, that you have to give yourself to studying your books, you have to read as though your life depends on it, and that in pursuant of success, you have to be addicted to getting only good results. I obeyed as a little boy and it caused me to become isolated from people in pursuit of academic success. The isolation hard negative effect on me but because it yielded positive academic results through the grade I came home with, it wasn't looked at as an issue for my parents because I was winning. But do you know how they will feel if after giving in too much time I wasn't getting results? The negative definition of addiction would have set it.

I guess this is the same with most gambling experiences. As long as you're winning, it's not addictive that you're gambling way more than usual or that you're being more frequent at betting sites at the negligence of another aspect of your life. That is when people mostly talk about gambling as being fun because they are winning and when it doesn't go in Their favor and they continue to lose at several bets, it's tagged addiction, and solutions and remedies for the situation start popping up here, and there but if the same person starts winning almost at the same time on a stretch, He's no longer looked at as an addict.

Is it that the  definition of gambling being fun is mostly applicable to moments when you're winning.
6  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / There is no Greener pasture without skills. on: June 28, 2024, 11:03:21 AM
I know say this matter I wan yarn no too relate to Bitcoin like that but as na wetin don become a major issue for our youth when wan Japa go find greener pastures for outside we country even when them no know wetin dem wan go do for there, I feel say e go make sense make we talk about am here.

Last week, one Manchi been enter my Hood (P.H) from Cameron say one of our girls for the area give am compass say work de for here when de pay 400k a month and say na why him gather money carry himself come PH wan come find the Job. To cut long story short, as we de ask am question based on say him no know him way to the place and as we de try to reach those people when tell am to burst in, we come discover say na people when wan use am do bad things like iether ritual or organ harvest na him been de deceive am and him nearly fall into the trap because him just wan Japa from him country.

The bad thing be say him no even know the work him de come do and him no even get any skill at all, him just hear say him people de come here and say them de make am and na why him just wan try him luck out.

This na similar thing when our people de go through in search of greener pastures for outside we country and most of them don lose there lives or have there organ harvested in the process because them just wan Japa without any preparation.

We know say outside here opportunities fit plenty oh, but I just wan yarn say e go make better sense make as you de reason to Japa make you still make plans and get at least one or two skills when go fit help you when you finally reach the place you de plan to Japa go.

In this digital age, some of the opportunities you wan Japa outside go look for, with the right skillset, you fit still get am here. I just hope say this update go help somebody for this we local board.

7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Can soccer players collaborate with gamblers to help them win there bet? on: May 24, 2024, 09:41:17 AM
Lucas paqueta just got charged by the FA for allegedly bridging betting rules. According to report, it's believed that he intentionally took yellow cards in some key matches just so some gamblers can profit from there betting.

I know wrestling and boxing are the popular sports where fixed matches is dominant but has this gotten to football we're players can intentionally foul an opponents just to be penalized with a yellow card? If this is true,  what's now the faith of proper sports? If players can't take out there personal interest out of sports and just do thier part which gives gamblers a neutral ground to thread on, then we've got a lot of problems in the sector.

What's your view on this, is it possible that such alligatoin might be true?
8  Other / Beginners & Help / My model of an ideal investment portfolio on: May 22, 2024, 09:20:38 AM
Building a good investment portfolio is one key area I've come to learn of its importance and in building a good portfolio, the decision to diversify your investment option into different sectors is Always key and from what I've read both on the forum and off the forum, it seems the concept of diversification of your portfolio tend to tilt more to investing into Bitcoin and altcoin which somehow appears a bit one sided as i feel that building a good and ideal portfolio should cover not just the digital sectors but should necessarily touch other aspect of our lives.

So I'm led to share how I intend building what I termed "my ideal investment portfolio" and I hope I can get some contributions and criticism if it's necessary to possibly help me make informed decision.

So here's my Ideal investment portfolio
1 To invest in my craft: I believe this should be the most important investment I should make and it involves ensuring that I'm updated in my skillset and that I get the relevant certification that will keep me relevant in my carrier.
2.To Invest in my proposed tech academy for kids  : This has been a long dream that's still lingering due to finance but I'm working and hoping to build a tech academy for kids in my locality since it seems they are interested in it but aren't previledged to have tech firms that's nearby the locality. I intend HODling my Bitcoin for possibly one circle and then use the proceeds to invest into this projects as it's bent on helping the kids and teenagers in my locality to becoming technologically inclined.
3. To Invest in Bitcoin   : I'm cureent DCAing to stack up a good chunk of Bitcoin which will help achieve part of my tech academy project and also serve as part of my diversified investment option.
4: invest in people    : this obviously is one area I can't ignore seeing that I'm a beneficiary of the investment someone made in me that has built me this far. I believe that investing in people can give greater returns than most of the investment option we have here and there and that's what my proposed tech academy for the kids and teenagers hopes to do.
5. To do long term Investment in Bitcoin and real estate   : once my four year investment plan becomes a success, I believe it's best to now focus more on building a Bitcoin stack for the long run that will serve my retirement needs and also venture into real estate which seams to be a good retirement plan outside of the decentralized financial system.

This is my personal plan on how best diversification of my portfolio can work well for me and I'm open to any impute and recommendations regarding this.

Sir @JayJuanGee seems to be too good on this kind of analysis and I would have loved to see his impute here.

9  Economy / Gambling discussion / How has big wins and jackpot stories affected your gambling habit? on: May 20, 2024, 03:32:19 PM
we know that apart from the fun that some gamblers enjoy while gambling, the majority of others gamble basically because they want to make money from gambling, and in doing this, I have come to notice that gambling stories play a great role in determining if a gambler will reduce his gambling, go more aggressive in terms of the amount used in gambling or even quite gambling momentarily.

I've read and watched stories of people who hit a big jackpot and from a first-person point of view, the first thing that comes to mind is that " I wish I was the lucky person" and the effect of such an experience has always been to keep trying with the hope that I might get lucky to win my jackpot.

I just want to know, How have jackpot stories affected your gambling routine?

Have you ever increased the amount you normally used in betting just because someone you know won big by betting with a greater amount?

10  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / How do one sort out money sent to wrong palmpay number? on: March 23, 2024, 01:06:03 PM

11  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / If you can't Invest in Bitcoin, buy assets on: March 14, 2024, 11:23:53 AM
When you go to the market to discover that a material that was sold for 50k last three months is now valued at 120k, what comes to your mind? The normal thing is to shout and point accusing fingers at our leaders and how bad the economy has become but do you know that you've walked into an investment opportunity and never knew or saw it?

If you're a good business person that knows how to read the times and study the market, there is so much you can make out of this consistent increase in the price of major goods in this country.

In this country, any real asset you buy today will be at least five times it current value in the next five years and if you think I'm wrong you can take yourself five years backwards and look at the prices of so many common stuffs like roofing zincs, cement, phones, all building material, lands and even normal vehicles.

As we set out part of our resource into Bitcoin investments, let's not close our eyes to the bounty opportunity that's available for us  to possibly invest into that will certainly yield a good amount of profit for us in five or ten years to come.
12  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / What's up with the regular tarnishing of our reputation ni? on: March 12, 2024, 12:07:40 PM
I don't know why we always assume that whatever we are facing in this country is the worst thing any nation could be going through and we just go all out to speak bad of our nation at any slightest opportunity we have in the public space. If only some of you have the slightest idea on what other nations are going through on a low without bringing it up for the public consumption.  You will all stick to what brought us here.

Is it a big deal to talk about Bitcoin and leave our politicians and whatever shit is going on in a country out of it? Isn't it enough that we have a local board to share whatever stuff that's necessary here?

You go see local board finish you no go gree post that thing when de your mind but na to carry am go public board go talk  about our country go de sweet you. What point are you all trying to prove? To get the public pitying your sorry state or what?

We've said it in the board over and over again that no newbie that's coming to the forum should go all out just to tarnish our image. I've regularly gone through the economy and general discussion board and I have not for once seen any member of another local board writing anything and including the name of their country in it in the negative sense but what you see most of the time is Nigeria This, Nigeria that and so on.

Abeg make we try control ourselves, if you no get wetin to talk try reply to someone's else's post and rest, no be every time you must post abeg.

I create this topic based on so many post I don de see for economy board and the general Bitcoin discussion board when no de speak well about us abeg make we try use our brain. No be our own bad pass.

See the thread here

Could it be because of corruption or bad governance that could inspired the northan Nigeria children to laid curse on president Bola Ahmed Tinubu?
Sincerely speaking, it's so dishearten to see that the children of a nation that are believed to be the leaders of tomorrow to feel so betray by their leader to the extend of laying curse on their president. Going by the present scenery of hardship, hunger and adjected poverty in Nigeria I think the reason of laying curse on Nigeria president by nothern Nigeria children is somehow justifiable because what country right now is as result government policies and incompetent corrupt leaders that have held the country captive for their selfish interest.
13  Other / Politics & Society / Coping with expectations on: February 23, 2024, 07:14:54 AM
Expectation from people could be the driving force that keeps us going or the reason why some of us gets depressed because of our inability to meeting those expectations.

Because some children did well while growing up in there preliminary classes, people always expect you to come out of the university with destinction and when you're unable to do so, it could get you depressed because it appears most time as though you've failed big time in life and that no one will even understand you at all. I'm at a cross road where my parent and siblings believe so much in me, academically, because I did well in high school but the reality is that I wasn't my best in the university and no one wants to imagine that its a possibility.

How then do I mange the expectation of people on me such that i don't get into depression when I'm  unable to meet up with it.?

It's almost like everyone knows you're going to succeed but don't even care about what you're passing through while you're striving to make them proud.
14  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / NYSC scheme is another failed structure that could have helped our economy. on: February 21, 2024, 11:33:54 AM
With the thousands of people that are willing to serve our country after completing their undergraduate studies, If our leaders are wise, they would have leveraged on these human capacity to harnessing most of our natural resource and push them into serving in industrial areas that will boast the economy to a very large extent.

Wouldn't it be more reasonable to send this NYSC members to industrial areas that will expose them to what's obtainable in most industrial setting or to look for ways to improve on our agricultural system rather than sending them to teach the regular maths and physics in school?

If the NYSC was properly planned and well managed, we wouldn't be talking about lack of employment opportunity or the issue of inemployability of most of our youth wouldn't have been a serious problem.

Just imagine that every year we have thousands of youth on the scheme and within that one year, they are well trained in an industry that is functional and relevant, would they come out frustrated about the next thing to do as is the case now? we should be thinking on how to engage them to better the economy rather than forcing them to teach in schools leaving most of them idle as shit because the system allows them to teach even when teaching is not thisr primary field of interest.

How does teaching help better our nation?  What we have is teachers teaching other teacher that will end up becoming teachers. How does that translate to a nation becoming productive to be really honest?

Well, I just say make I bring this matter come here,    how we fit make the best use of our youth that are currently under the nysc scheme such that they will be productive to themselves on thier part and still be a useful resource for the economic growth of our nation.

15  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / The power of Networking. on: February 08, 2024, 05:40:03 AM
It's not strange that no man can do it all by himself and that most of the things we are doing becomes better and easier when we actually put our heads together and support ourselves in our own little way.

I've benefited a lot by networking with people. Sometimes you just need to know someone that knows someone who is into what you're looking for and it paves a big way for you. Their are several instances when people pay huge sum of money to learn a skill that you will comfortably learn for free because of the kind of network you've built.

I guess this is one of the major advantage of going to the higher institution and to be really honest, the major thing I have achieved as a graduate is that I have a network of different individuals that are doing well for themselves in different field and it's always very easy to seek for their help or professional advice when the need arises.

Even most of our top politician and some of our leading industrial expert still ensure that they build the needed relationship and network with people in their field and those outside their field and once they leave a particular position, it's always not difficult for them to find another.

What I'm saying in essence, is that we've become a family by reason of this platform that brings us together and if for any reason their is going to be a physical move to advocate for bitcoin adoption, we're going to be in the right position to carry it out and so make we de relate wela for the forum and also try to de carry each other along so we go also know wetin de happen for the industry wella.
16  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Accumulate assets of different forms Now on: February 04, 2024, 05:14:49 PM
when you look at the early bitcoin holders and their stories regarding how they gave out tones of bitcoin to people in exchange of something really insignificant, it should guide you to be very careful with how you treat not just your current bitcoin holdings but also any asset that is at your disposal and is gradually gaining popularity not just in the local space but globally.

we've read stories of a man that gave 10,000 worth of Bitcoin in exchange for two pizza's during the early period of bitcoin existence, and even outside of the crypto space, we've been told of people that sold out acres of land for a very small amount of money just because they didn't foresee the price of land appreciating this much in the society and what most of them have left is just mere stories to tell about how they had more than a thousand bitcoin or acres of land that is now in other peoples possession.

if you're in possession a good amount of bitcoin or an an altcoin with good futuristic prospect or you have land or some natural resource at your disposal, don't allow brokenness push you to sell them off. if you even have the resource, accumulate more of it because anything can happen in the future.

I still remember those time when they where looking for a particular kind of ancient bell in churches, people that saved those items and just kept it somewhere safe sold it for a good amount of money while others that sold Thiers for 200 naira iron condemn didn't have  shit to sell.

Be careful of awuuf sale, no be everything you go wan sell as iron condemn, if you get an asset that seems like something that will become of value in the nearest future, just jejely keep it safe because you don't know how important it will become in the future.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What's your take on this Robert Kiyosaki's thought? on: February 04, 2024, 03:38:34 PM
we know that it's best to buy Bitcoin at DIP and Hold or sell it off at any convenient price above the amount we bought it. it's just reasonable to say that you've made your profit after you've successfully sold it at a value that is greater than the amount you bought it regardless of the profit you made. but Robert Kiyosaki, in a podcast suggests that you make your profit at the point you bought Bitcoin and not at the point you sold it regardless of the amount you sold it.

I understand the angle he Is coming from and it is that not being patient and selling your bitcoin during a minor bull could still not be all that profitable because the price of bitcoin can still rise above the amount you sold it which makes selling at that price unreasonable and that the reason why he suggest that you make profit at the point of buying bitcoin is probably because of the certainty that if you buy at the DIP, its almost certain that you're going to make profit in the long run.

what's the guarantee that once you've bought bitcoin you are 100% certain that you've made profit.

At what point can you consider to have made profit in your bitcoin holding journey?
18  Other / Off-topic / World female football. on: February 01, 2024, 07:03:49 PM
I know that the majority of sports that that are popular are played by men and most times we don't really support female going into gambling but I'm thinking if it wouldn't be nice that we have a thread that talks about female football and other sports just like the way we have EPL discussion and other specific discussions.

Their is a lot of serious event happening in the female sports sphere and I'm hoping because we have both male and female gamblers in the forum,  it would also be fair to have a particular thread that talks about that.

If that will be okay then I can edit this thread so it can be used to talk about the recent happening in the world of female sports.
19  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Leap year na bull period for all sectors; Get the best out of it. on: January 30, 2024, 11:26:14 AM

20  Other / Off-topic / Coping with Risk. on: January 30, 2024, 11:08:42 AM
We know that regardless of the prospect of any business or investment, understanding the risk involved in the business is an integral part of the consideration one should consider before venturing into the business and when it comes to bitcoin investment, it's very basic yo know that the major risk associated with it are just a few of the ones below which could either be issue relating to hacking, lost or misplaced seed phrase or possibly sending your crypto holding to the wrong address considering it irreversible nature.

In our normal business we have risk also that are damn much which could range from fire outbreak, stealing, bad market, spoilage and lots of other factor that makes starting a physical business very risky and to have high possibility of yielding great loss.

so my question is, which is more risky?

A). Running a physical business that has a whole lot of risk associated with it or

B) running an online investment with high risk of hack that could result in you loosing all your asset.
