2  Other / Off-topic / Can betting on a player boost the player's performance. on: September 06, 2024, 10:42:32 AM
Several factors determine a player's performance in sports, including health condition, skills, critical thinking, tactics, team strength, desire, and motivation from fans or gamblers. And if any of these factors are affected or are being challenged then we get to see a drop in the performance a little if not completely depending on the factor though.

However, i was curious when i got to know that betting on a player consistently or hype on a players helps motivate the payer to increase his performance from time to time.

How true is this and what are your reasons if agree with the hypothesis?

If you strongly disagree with it then whats your reason as well?
3  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Problem of native language identity cause for concern, if not now in the future on: July 11, 2024, 07:31:05 PM
It is true that Nigeria has hundreds of languages. Choosing one could be judged as tribalism or neglect of others. Making it seem like others are not important or necessary. But there is a truth that having a unified language can strengthen a Nation's identity here in the forum or in other diversified places.

Pidgin is a Lingua Franca and not a Native language but it is expected that the local board should be a place for us to speak our Native language. The question could be is Pidgin our native language? I saw a thread discussing where one member was saying he sees Nigerians speak Pure English and sometimes Pidgin that he is not sure if we have a native language unlike other LB in the forum which is obvious you can see them speak fluently in their native language.

However, cheers to all of us who have managed tp promote unity and national identity without imposing a single language here in the forum, but we shouldn't forget that anyone can infiltrate our local board speaking a pure English, disguising as a member of the LB. Or dont we think so?
4  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Delegate your Income and you'll earn more money on: April 11, 2024, 02:45:27 PM
One of the main reason why the rich normally becomes richer and the poor remains poor is that the higher the amount of money you have, the more easier it becomes to make more money. Once you're at the stage where you can delegate your money to fetching more money for you, your financial growth will automatically start booming in a massive way.

This is one of the reasons why you see the likes of dangote refusing to focus only in the cement industry, he sees opportunity in another sector and delegates part of his money into that sector and it brings him more money. And at some stage, it's not just about delegating money, you can delegate responsibility and you earn more by doing so. If you try to do all the jobs by yourself, you might achieve little or nothing close to what you will get by delegating certain roles to others and then you get incentives and loyalties from it.

You've got to understand that it's easier to move from a $100 to $1M than moving 0$ to $100 and the simple secrete is that for the former, you can delegate part of money into making more money which puts you at a serious advantage.
5  Other / Off-topic / Gambling problems on different races on: April 05, 2024, 01:06:52 PM
Gambling problem is a serious issue which has affected the millions of gamblers in the world generally. While anyone can develop a problem with gambling, i tend to understand that race has more to contribute to the problems of gambling in the society. Most historical practices and traditional system of gambling practices within the different race has an influence and if a gambler do not take these things into consideration he would face more problems as a gambler.

Africans have little of gambling addict because they have only local gambling shops (lack of economic opportunities to improve the level of gambling). so they rarely reach full addiction. While in some other part of the world like the white, they are more likely to have co-occurring gambling disorders because of  depression or anxiety. And other races have high rate of gambling problems due to the presence of casinos on reservations, for example in Asia.
6  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Local beliefs about remote jobs in Nigeria are seen to be associated with scam on: March 20, 2024, 10:19:05 PM
I am not sure this is a global phenomenon because in the US there are thousands of work-from-home job offers, and people may have started working from home after the COVID-19 pandemic. In Nigeria, it is different, There is nothing you will ever explain to anyone who has no idea working remotely that they would ever believe that you are not doing a scam.

Two months ago, i got a new apartment, and the landlord was like, i don't need anyone doing a scam business or stuff in my compound. If you know what you are doing, let me know. I told him i was into technology, showed him some websites I designed, and he managed to believe me. When i moved in, at first it was all good in the first month, but unknowingly for me, he had sent his housegirl to be watching my movements and to spy on me anyhow she had to do it. Now he and his family feel I am a scammer and would not want any of their children or visitors to associate with me.

Its so funny. I have nothing to prove to anyone right now, anyone who thinks odd of us bitcoiners, investors, and traders, we should not let that bother us. It is what it is; you can never change their mindset towards what they believe. They will never trust you.

If it is possible, we should start advising our friends, family and people we see everyday to understand that there are remote jobs like;

Affiliate Marketing
Website Design/Graphics Design
Programming
Traders/Investors
Online Tutors/Coach

and so may others that people do to make a living off the internet so that they won't have a conclusion about anyone unless they have valid evidence.
7  Economy / Speculation / If you had bought the previous ATH you're on profit on: March 13, 2024, 11:12:23 AM
It happens all the time with bitcoin ATH, where investors avoid buying the ATH rather than waiting for the dip again before they can buy. I want to draw a quick summary of all the bitcoin all-time highs first to remind you that if you had bought in the previous ATH without minding the price, you are on profit now. And this is to encourage us that buying the ATH is not as bad as we think. My theory is to buy high or low and not sell. You won't lose if you don't sell, and imagine your DCA in one form or another since you would have no regret at all. Obviously, it is not the best option.

There are two type of investors i know this period and how it is affecting them

There are the ones who always buy without minding if the price is at the top or at the bottom. They know it may not be the best bitcoin accumulation plan, but they have had the experience, and right now they are on gains. It may not be massive gains, but they are on the green.

The second type is the bottom buyer. Those who patiently wait for the dip every single period. It is mostly seen as the best plan since you don't have much to lose and the price will surely go back up. Not everyone is successful with this strategy, some end up not having to buy at the dip because they feel it is too expensive to buy even when it has dropped a little. They end up never buying at all despite whatever price it falls down to.

8  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Satoshi Nakomoto used The power of "free will" and look how far we've come on: March 12, 2024, 01:45:45 PM
Our ability to live our lives and do our thing the best way possible is one of our greatest gift from nature and those that knows it power are making the best out of it. Isn't it beautiful? That we can decide how best to live our lives without necessary being tamed by an external agent?

Some of the most incredible people that ever lived exercised their free will to it peak and it brought huge revolution to so many sectors of the world. For me, it's a discovery of the creative part of self that tells of  my ability to becoming whatever and whoever I chose to be.

Satoshi understood this and came up with bitcoin and because the power of freewill is something too great, we've seen Bitcoin rising from nothing that was ridiculd in the past to what we have now. It's at the centre of all creative minds and once you're able to discover that you can freely break out old norms, it won't be just a liberation from your end but a revolution that will affect your generation and more to come.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / People are selling now, what are you keeping for later and which are you selling on: March 01, 2024, 06:18:58 AM
There are many conversations that I jumped into this morning, and i see a lot of people talking about the price increment in cryptocurrency generally. Bitcoin's upward price movement had also affected altcoins to follow suit. However, i created this topic because i know there are lots of investors here i want to know if you are investing in altcoins. Which of the altcoins can you sell now to take advantage of those sweet gains, and which of them are you leaving for better future profits? I had the belief that there are altcoins that have so much potential, and selling them off now won't do any better since they deserve to be held for a long time, just like bitcoin.
10  Economy / Speculation / Dont sell because you feel like selling, give it another thought. on: March 01, 2024, 05:53:01 AM
Yes, I will say it again and again! Don't sell because you want to sell, or maybe others are selling, and if you feel you have made some profit, then you must sell. My dear, give it a second thought. If you don't have a genuine reason for selling, like a deep need for money, or if you want to sell to buy luxurious things when you know that the price of bitcoin has more potential than what it has shown,.

I am not against anyone selling since; a lot of people who had hodl made lots of profit during this period. What I am trying to say is, if you have no significant need for the money, there is no point in selling it. If your income is enough for you and other expenses, you can continue to buy more bitcoin so that your portfolio will be massive. It should be about how much bitcoin you have, not how many dollars of bitcoin you are holding.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Quick profit is the only reason why we invest in Altcoins on: February 19, 2024, 02:06:34 AM
Investing in Altcoins had been what so many invested have been looking at these period. Believing that bitcoin's bull run will surely influence the price of the altcoins and hive them massive gains. Literally if bitcoin rises altcoins follow suit but this is the only reason i see that makes potential investors to invest in Bitcoin. There is no other interest as they feel its unsafe to store value or wealth, cant be used for p2p transactions and it cant be trusted to hodl for long. If you think there is any other reasons that makes investors put their money in altcoins feel free to share. I would love to know.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Rate at which p2p merchant are frauding people are high - always be vigillant on: January 30, 2024, 10:16:48 AM
Yes, yesterday I almost fell for a P2P scam. Mine was the regular way these merchants always try to set people up. I had placed an order, and he approved that he had sent the amount to my account, but he did not. I told him he insisted I release it because he had sent it and I would see it in less than 5 minutes. I knew he wanted to scam me, so I left him and slept off. He then knew I wasn't going to fall for his trap and sent the money after so many hours.

But waking up this morning, a friend of mine had similar issues, but this time the scammer came with a little twist. My friend told me he had placed an order for $70 since he needed some funds. As he wanted to click the sell button, the price changed, and he refreshed it again. So he bothered not to check again and procedd with the order as he got the alert in his phone he saw that the merchacnt changed the order from  $1 = 1,460 Naira to $1 = 1,270 Naira.

He reported the account, and up until now, support is still settling the issues with which they have restricted his trade. Brothers, be careful. Always be vigilant to check before releasing any of your assets. These merchants are cunny.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Adults of bitcointalk what are your candid advice to newbies in the forum? on: January 28, 2024, 08:58:08 PM
Greetings to every member of the forum. My respect to all the adults on the bitcointalk forum. As elders of the forum, i believe there are levels of intelligence that have been attained over the years spent on the forum. I came up with this topic to pull up some insights or secret advice to guide newbies that are still having some difficulty in the forum so that they can easily flow through the process responsibly. There are twists and turns that newbies may encounter either in their investment journey or otherwise, and your little insight could be the compass to scale through them successfully.

Don't hold on to it till you pass; always share that wisdom and exchange knowledge with the new babies in the forum.
14  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Encouraging the entrepreneurship spirit in us on: January 23, 2024, 11:45:11 AM
There is this thought that comes into our heads that whenever we do not have a steady source of income, we start planning things we would do when we had money or a steady cash flow. From starting a new business plan to growing our skills by investing in them so that we can reach the level of customers we want to patronize,. Yes, this is very relatable to having those imaginary thoughts when we do not have the money, but when the money comes, we see ourselves neglecting what we had planned so far. Which is very, very bad. I won't call it procrastination, because when we procrastinate, we still have those intentions in our minds, only that we always delay or shift the duration to do it. What I would say is that it is a total neglection of the entrepreneurial spirit in us.

I hear people say that everyone is not meant to be an entrepreneur. Which I see as a typical lie. The question is, have you given it a try? There is this saying, which says, Make hail while the sun still shines. It offers us very deep advice. Now that we are young and we can work, why not use this time to push our business ideas and skills into reality? So that we can stop working all day and night. Or do you prefer to work and squander when you can put your money to work for you? However i will use this two instances to encourage and boost our spirit;

1. In John 9:14, Jesus advises us to work while it is day so that night may come when no man can work. I relate this verse to myself each day. I see the day as my youthful age. Now I have the strength, the skill, and the ability to get partners to create a good business that will have a strong root so that when I am old (which is at night), I can relax while those efforts result in steady cash flow for me.

2. Proverb 6:6–8 The Bible used the ant as a typical example, where it was said we should consider there ways and be wise. The ants collect there food in summer as there will be no more food in the winter. Planning and organizing for scarcity ahead while they rest in the winters with no time to stress or worry. We, as humans, should make plans as well if we want to reach our vision or target in life. Now we have means to earn money we can gather it and set up a business so that if in life the source we use in earning money is shattered, we can rely on our business during those tomes for money and comfort.

Remember, if we don't plan for the future, we often get stuck along the way, and having an entrepreneurial mindset is good and worth it. So start planning and start organizing!
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Denying yourself comfortability in other to buy Bitcoin on: January 20, 2024, 12:30:49 AM

With the current rate of inflation in our individual countries, many people see it that there is a better future in investing and holding Bitcoin for a long period of time. Many see it as a breakthrough out of poverty while some see it as a way of storing value. However, in as much as we love comfortability, convenience in our daily lives there are individuals who will rather choose to forgo short term pleasure like luxury purchases, expensive outings, Unfurnished apartments all for the sake of acquiring a lot of Bitcoin in their portfolio. They are determined and dedicated to believe in the long term benefit of Bitcoin while making personal sacrifices to secure their future.

Based on their commitment to keep to their decision it makes me ask myself how do this set of person go about their daily lives when they know they can afford those things they see around?

Do you think this is a strategy to accumulate Bitcoin faster because of the volatile nature of Bitcoin?

Lastly have anyone come across any individual who will deny his comfort for Bitcoin and what do you think are their motivations?
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Getting acquainted with these forum feature - for beginners specifically. on: January 17, 2024, 12:32:20 AM
Yeah, there are some features in the bitcointalk forum that help members navigate the forum easily, faster, and smarter, but they are neglected and rarely used at times. One of it is a tab system I found in the bottom right corner of every board. Its a typical drop-down filter that allows you to navigate from one main board to another and also supports navigating between child boards inside parent boards instead of going back to the home page.

So if you find yourself in any parent board or child board, you can just go down here

After that, you will see an entire list of the available child boards and other parent boards there. Choose where you intend to navigate, like your destination, and then you will be there asap!

Have a nice day lovelies

19  Other / Meta / Getting something clear about the trust system on: December 27, 2023, 10:08:34 PM
Seasonal greetings to everyone. I have some misunderstandings about something i need clarification. So, for example, we have member A and member B.  If member A uses the trust system to give member B any of the trust,. If member A's account is banned in the future, what will happen to the trust he gave to member B? Will it still be there?

Also, if two members are in an argument or disagreement,. Can they use the trust system to tag each other's arguments just to tarnish each other's reputations? Something like an emotional use of the trust system, whether positive, neutral, or negative. Is it allowed in the forum?
20  Economy / Economics / Sometimes tips the securities at the mall or local shops on: December 27, 2023, 07:13:56 AM
I haven't worked as a security before, but from my observations, I would say the securities are really doing a pretty good job. Securing whatever we go to the mall, we keep an eye on shoplifters to avoid thefts and nuisances. Personally, I am scared of that kind of job because you have to sign an agreement that stipulates that anything could happen while you are on duty, and only your family will be compensated on your behalf if it eventually leads to death. But i see those guys do their jobs with passion and happiness.

When we walk into a mall, I believe they are the first person we see, and i have seen most of them with a lovely smile and welcome message. While you are leaving as well, they say goodbye and thank you for shopping with us. Don't you think they are worth tipping? Sometimes we should tip them and appreciate them for their services because it is not an easy one and their salaries are low as well. Tipping them will help solve some other needs, or if they have a family, it will help provide extra money for the family.
