1  Other / Off-topic / Making people understand crypto. on: July 29, 2024, 10:09:44 AM
Alot of people hear about crypto currency and all kinds of trading but are not interested or find it hard to grasp what is the easiest way to make a friend or family member understand the crypto world and all that relates to it?
2  Other / Off-topic / The trauma that comes with not being where you want to be. on: July 25, 2024, 11:08:26 AM
This is a general challenge for all but it takes tells a lot on men, especially young men. Not being where guy want be and seeing your peers achieve things earlier in life while you’re a big slow to catching up can affect men so mentally and sometime cripple their confidence and how there move in the society, it is not very much talked about but it’s a big issue and to all young men out there keep your head up and be strong live life at your own pace you’ll be alright.
3  Other / Off-topic / The perception of the westerners about Africa is disgusting. on: July 22, 2024, 08:05:18 PM
It is very irritating the way the westerners talk about Africa or imagine the lives of Africans, they have this perception that Africans are still stuck in ancient times and are not in touch with civilization. During an interview with renowned author and Nigerian Ngozi chimamanda adichie hosted by a France woman she asked the author if there are bookshops In Africa and the audience during the interview laughed and the author showed her disappointment over the question to the host, there are many more instances where these people(westerners) are asked questions like name a country in Africa and they confidently say wakanda, for Godsake wakanda is a fictional nation in the comics world not an actual county. Especially the ones from the U.S are fond of this kind of public display of stupidity, Africa is a continent that has numerous countries so they should learn these stuff and stop making a fool of themselves.
4  Other / Off-topic / Creativity is a curse but no one wants to be delivered from it. on: July 18, 2024, 04:24:07 PM
Every creative is just burdened with their creativity most times, the talent is there, but either the tools are the barrier to the manifestation of the creativity or the mind is a blockage to it where in self doubt and second guessing is a big struggle either way creativity is a curse that no one wants to break out from.
5  Other / Off-topic / The society taught men to underestimated their worth. on: July 17, 2024, 08:13:04 AM
Men in this present generation only scale their self when there’s money involved and feel they’re not of value  due to the fact that they don’t posses wealth at that time but until they get the bag then have the confidence while on the other hand a woman who is only good looking and attractive scales herself a 10/10 even though she has nothing attached to her name but the good looks  and a man who is intelligent, outspoken, talented, extremely good looking and only lacking in the money aspect would still call himself a 5/10 because he’s not in his bags and this is extremely disturbing.
6  Other / Off-topic / The power of timing is just so amazing. on: July 15, 2024, 10:16:56 PM
As a kid I was fat and always hated my body, I felt insecure about my shape and built, most times I’d starve myself because I felt like me starving myself would help me loose the fat and I decided to take playing soccer seriously but there was one issue, I was also asthmatic so athleticism wasn’t my best suit and I couldn’t do anything about it, it was an issue for a long time for me and it made me think really little of myself although I was a Bright student groaning up I always wished I had the physique of my peers and I silently struggled with it and most times I hated when people attributed all my talents and entire personality to just being fat and overweight, I sometimes get into fights for been called fat and this was my struggle with my additional asthmatic personality.
Years later after graduating high school and by the way still maintaining my fat boy persona, I fell sick and was diagnosed with pulmonary edema and here in Nigeria it was and still is a big deal cause anything that included surgery was going to cost a lot and now I had more to think about than just being fat. The surgery went through and it was successful and then within that period I was diagnosed I was only focused on getting better and didn’t notice that I had lost a lot of weight I mean a lot of weight, now all my clothes were baggy and oversized and I could Practically count my ribs I had lost all the body fat and could be mistaken for a model because I also gained more height and it wasn’t expected, after my whole recuperation and finally being fully healed from the surgery I noticed the changes and I don’t mean just physically because mentally too I was reborn, I used to very upset about being fat for years and l lost all that in the space of weeks and my mindset too was changed I came to the realization that sometimes what we spend decades chasing just comes into manifestation in seconds and life is too short to be expectant but very long to be ungrateful.

8  Other / Off-topic / What makes someone a high value person? on: July 15, 2024, 07:33:38 AM
Lots of people are now confidently vocal about the fact that they are one of the society’s high value individual but what exactly are the criteria required to be classified as a high value individual asides money?
9  Other / Off-topic / Why do people forget that Christians are also humans too? on: July 13, 2024, 10:14:23 AM
It’s saddening that the whole system is designed to always magnify the wrongs of these people and downplay their good, firstly Christians are human with flesh and blood and all imperfection that comes with being an ordinary human, they try to emulate their model Jesus but they aren’t Jesus they just strive each day to be like him people should stop generalizing the mistakes of a single Christian to the whole religion.

12  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / What makes BTC stronger. on: February 01, 2024, 03:41:48 AM
BTC no dey new to us but e get some unique things about am wey dey make am stronger over other currency. The first one be say na limited number of BTC in circulation which is exactly 21 million BTC, the advantage of this be say e get protection against inflation wey dey happen as CBN or the equivalent for other dey print Naira (or equivalent in other country) anytime wey dey like.
Second one be say e dey transparent in the sense say all the transaction dey on the blockchain wey dey accessible to anyone so we fit verify anything.  Again if no be say some cash App dn dey allow sending and receiving of cash easily now na BTC being dey very easy to work with. Other limitation wey BTC being get dn dey resolve small small. most government dn dey support BTC and other Altcoin for the country.
13  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Sitting In A Keke Front Seat — A Risky Move❗ on: January 25, 2024, 04:33:42 PM
Who can remember the good old days — the days when Nigerian road transport allowed only one passenger in the front seat of a transport vehicle and no passenger in the front seat of keke. Now it's two people squeezing in the front seat of a car, and Keke drivers now carry someone in front even when there is no real provision made for a passenger in front. Some of us will say it's something we're used to. But, let me tell you, it's quite dangerous and risky. You know how the front seat of a keke is only made for the driver, as there is little space for an extra body to occupy the front, so it's likely for someone's leg to stick out. Now because Nigerian drivers are greedy and always want to make extra cash by all means, keke drivers carry four instead of three (with three people at the back, and one in front seat with the driver). And it is more likely than not that the person in front will be uncomfortable, and will have his/her legs protruding from the keke.
Now, just imagine an onrushing vehicle comes from behind and hits the leg of that person, it could prove fatal. Months back, something happened where a reckless driver hit a keke passenger's leg protruding out of the front seat, the man's leg became disjointed instantly, with his knee bone popping out of his flesh. Separated from his knees, his lower leg was just dangling, only held together by his flesh, trust me it was not a good sight. Now, one cannot be too careful when it comes to boarding a Keke. Even though you're late for something or it is raining, wait for a Keke that has vacancy at the back. Secondly,  Caution the driver when he's driving roughly, because Keke drivers (especially young ones) can be rude and reckless.
14  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / I'm Starting To Believe The Notion That The Average Nigerian Man Is Angry on: January 21, 2024, 09:43:18 PM

One could begin with the prickly heat caused by our ridiculously hot weather, the congested roads along the market caused by roadside traders putting their tables and sampling goods on the walkway meant for pedestrians. One might even begin with the bad roads poorly constructed by some greedy contractors. Or the constant regression of our economy that has caused the inflation of goods and made cost of living astronomically high, and standard of living unbearable for most citizens.
Say you just put on your dress and decide you want to get something from the market place, even from the keke or motorcycle you take to the bus stop, you start experiencing the anger of fellow citizens, with the keke driver shouting and uttering words like ''madam do fast enter, if you no wan enter, you commot make anoda pesin enter" even if you just hesitated for a second before climbing on. Then when you finally make it to the bus stop, you still have to put up with rude conductors and the ill-mannered drivers piloting the buses taking you to your destination.
Sometimes, it happens when you exit the bus, you'd have to shout before the conductor gives your complete change, and as the bus zooms off, the conductor angrily mutters curses and insults at you. Now, you're down from the bus, on the market horizon moving about to find what's scribbled on your list, you have to walk gingerly to avoid people stepping on you and then raining insults on you instead of an apology. Even when someone bumps into you, instead of a sorry, what you'll hear is "you no dey watch where you dey go?!
Going further into the nooks and crannies of the market place that are clamped and very tight with little room to pass, you probably start to sweat. Even when you ask for the prices of items you'd like to buy and try to haggle as usual, some of them still respond rudely to you as if you are the cause of their current hardship. You know, I vividly remember few years back when I was unaware of where I was going, I politely stopped a passer by to ask for directions, instead of him to help, he looked at me angrily, hissed and walked away. That was when I remembered what my teacher in secondary school told me is true, that the average Nigerian man is angry. Nowadays, everybody is just angry, people are frustrated. Nigerians barely get enough sleep and still wake up everyday thinking of how to feed and get even the most essential of things. For example, someone will toil, go through a day's stress, hustle to see if he/she can make ends meet, then the nigerian police or even sars will come from nowhere with their own wahala. Not to even talk of going home to face NEPA wahala and having to sleep through a hot night frustrated and uncomfortable.
In conclusion, our leaders are to blame for our situation and our predicament. Because a poorly run system leads to hiccups, and hiccups lead to frustration, and frustration then leads to anger.
15  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Buying Stocks: Do You Know Investing In Pharma Is Almost As Risky As Crypto on: January 21, 2024, 02:39:54 AM
The truth is that there is no market which is totally risk averse. While most markets have some risks associated with them, there are markets far more risky than the others, for example the Crypto and Pharma industry. Pharma like Crypto is a very volatile sector. The ever-changing landscape of drug approvals, clinical trial outcomes, and regulatory processes can make shares and stock values rise and fall at any given time. While a pharma stock can rise ∆ exponentially, especially when there is news of a successful drug trial or a break through medication, it can also plummet drastically when companies experience regulatory setbacks or their drugs are found to be doing more harm than good. And if such happens, the stocks are likely to fall beyond recovery, reason being that pharma companies are reputation based companies, they work on trust because they deal with human wellbeing. So, any drug scandal could prove fatal to the reputation of companies in this industry. And when this happens, companies can be redlined. And sales dwindle. Therefore, investors refrain from investing further, thereby affecting share price and stock value.
However, companies like Pfizer, Novartis, Johnson & Johnson, etc are more established with a long history in the business along with having a very high market cap, so they can be safer to invest in. But there are other emerging companies that are not proven, making them a lot less safe for investment, and some of them never even make a breakthrough. So, when you put it on a scale, the risk outweighs the reward most of the time.
In conclusion, the world of investment is full of risks, with constant emphasis on high-risk, high-reward. But, instead of diving headfirst into an investment, take a couple of steps back to think, make extensive research and weigh the potential rewards against the inherent risks before pulling out your hard earned funds to invest.

17  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Crypto Fans Meetup | Crypto Community | Crypto Event on: January 10, 2024, 08:55:48 AM
Good morning, everyone.
With the recent news that Nigeria is allowing cryptocurrencies again, it's sparked an idea: why don't we have get-togethers where we chat about this crypto? Think of it as a special meetup, kind of like how software developers have their cool DEVFEST event every year (coming from a software developer background).

At these meetups, we'd have some top men in the forum (the experts!) talk about cryptocurrencies to folks who are new to it or just really interested. They'd explain what these digital currencies are all about, how they work, and how we can be a part of it.

The goal is simple: we want to make these meetups a place where anyone can come and learn about this crypto. It won't be boring lectures; instead, we'll have fun conversations, maybe some activities, where we all learn together.

Imagine walking in without much knowledge about cryptocurrencies and leaving feeling like you've got a better grip on what it's all about. Plus, you might meet some new friends who are also excited about this!

This aims to bring in experts to talk about these digital currencies in a way that makes sense to everyone. No fancy jargon, just clear explanations so that even if you're totally new to this, you'll understand.

This is our chance to create something cool—a place where everyone, no matter their background, can come together to understand and maybe even be a part of this new way of doing things with money.

It's a suggestion...it might be virtual or physical meet up. Please what do you think.
