1  Bitcoin / Mining / Mining with ATI Radeon 5870M on: February 08, 2012, 02:13:28 AM
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone else has this card and if they had discovered some sort of optimal miner/catalyst or something. Currently on the most updated catalyst and sdk 2.5. I've only tried GUIminer and cgminer and I averaged about 188Mh/s (I'm overclocked) on GUI using OpenCl and 177Mh/s on cgminer. Anyone have any other stats?

2  Bitcoin / Mining / Setting up GUIMiner w/ a backup pool? on: February 04, 2012, 01:31:08 AM
So I've searched the forums and I cannot figure this out. I want to set a flag/parameter that lets me set up a backup pool using GUIminer, and the official forum has this:

Quote
"How to use a backup pool aka fallback support:

Fallback support is in the OpenCL miner only. In the flags, specify the info of the backup pool or pools. For example if I want to fallback to my account on slush's pool, I would write:

Kiv.GPU:mypass@api.bitcoin.cz:8332"

Somewhere else someone said they put this, but was unable to test it yet:

" --backup http://user:pass@f1.deepbit.net:8332"

So I'm trying to figure out what this set up actually is. Like "Kiv.GPU" is supposed to be what? Like a username? It's just confusing.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Solo Mining LTC on: January 16, 2012, 01:21:23 AM
So I recently decided I would try mining litecoins since I can mine them alongside bitcoins and not slow down my gpu. I downloaded the official client and tried to solo mine. All it says that it's started and then I left it running for 3-4 days and saw no progress (or high cpu usage) . Just about an hour ago, I tried the ScrpytMiner GUI with a litecoin mining pool and that works perfectly and says I'm going at about 17kh/s with 7 threads with about 80% cpu usage. I tried to solo mine again but I still see nothing showing me it's working with the exception that it said my speed was going at about 2500hashes a second. I read that at 1 difficulty it should take an estimated ~65k hashes to find a block so...

My basic question is, with fear of sounding like the n00b that I am, can someone tell me if I'm setting up something wrong or is 3-4 days not a long enough time to find a litecoin block at that speed?
4  Other / Beginners & Help / New 4% Fee for ABCpool on: December 31, 2011, 07:18:40 AM
So once again I am posting this here only because I can't post elsewhere.

Does anyone use ABCpool? I just recently started the other day and discovered via the forums that they would be introducing a 4% fee. On their website, it says that a 2% fee covers operational costs so I just don't understand why it needs to be so high. There are complaints on their forum as well but most people have the sort of "if you don't like it, then leave" attitude. But what if a good number of people don't like it and leave? Well that doesn't leave the pool very strong now does it... so why the high fee? I know other pools that are PPS that have no fee or at least a lower fee than 4%. (To be fair I also know higher fee pools, but I'm not in them for that reason).

Thoughts?

(I'd like to post my opinions there but I can't unfortunately.)
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Is ArsBitcoin Pool working for you? [Because I can't post anywhere else] on: December 29, 2011, 07:54:19 PM
Hello,

I have been unable to connect to ArsBitcoin's servers for a while now. On their forum it appears only one person said anything about the problem around the time I started having it but they switched to server 2 and that fixed the problem. I have tried the normal server via guiminer as well as server 2 and it always says connection problems. I've also been on 3 different internet connections since it started a little less than a week ago.

I know its working for others, because the pool still has workers connected to it and mining but I can't seem to figure out why mine does not.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Merging Accounts? on: July 30, 2011, 07:46:44 AM
Hi,

When I set up my account I must have typo'd my pin because I'm unable to update any information because it says pin invalid. So I made a new account and I wanted to know if there is anyway for the main webadmin to add the two accounts? My main is now thatonechickt while the first account I started was thatonegirlt. ( Very creative right? )

Thanks

EDIT: Sorry, I don't know how I missed that this was the Bitcoin forum and not a dedicated forum for my pool lol. I meant the pool.betcoin.co pool.
