2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Private Key cracker apparently demonstrated on: January 28, 2014, 08:34:17 PM
Please see this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421842.0

Towards the end of page 4 of this topic is apparently proof this guy derived the private key matching the public key submitted in a previous post.  Can any developers comment on this.  Not sure if this is an elaborate troll or the guy is on to something.
3  Economy / Currency exchange / WTB 1 BTC on: September 24, 2012, 08:48:21 PM
Looking to buy 1 Bitcoin @ $13 USD. I can pay via Dwolla or BofA transfer.

Obviously my low post count and lack of trade history are warning signs not to trust me so you decide if you want to risk 1 Bitcoin on this trade. I will of course send the USD first.

Reply here if you are interested and I will PM you.

Thanks

Quote
"An attacker managed to access an unencrypted backup of wallet keys and steal 24,000 BTC (worth more than a quarter million USD), following which Bitcoin exchange Bitfloor has been shut down while the investigation of the theft is going on. The attack was carried out sometime last night. In a forum post, Shtylman pleads with Bitcoin users that BitFloor needs their help."

A few questions for my fellow Newbies and a chance to increase your post count while burning time in this forum.

How did you discover Bitcoin?
For me I discovered Bitcoin after reading a Slashdot article about it back in January of this year.

Why did you wait until now to register on this forum?

I have been reading these forums for several months and recently I came a cross a couple of discussions in the mining forums that I wanted to participate in. So begins the quest to rise above newbie status.
