Bitcoin vendor Butterfly Labs (BFL), a Bitcoin mining equipment hardware store known for its high speed ASIC miners is yet again under great tension, after reports that US Marshalls recently raided their offices. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) showed up with The United States Marshals Service (USMS) inside the BFL offices and confiscated equipment, a user from the Bitcointalk forum named Techknowledgy claimed on September 19. Charlie Shrem, twenty four year old co-founder and CEO of the Bitcoin exchange company BitInstant, is set to face five years in prison after reappearing in court, with his sentencing to take place on January 20. Paypal has recently announced that its subsidiary Braintree will now be partnering with the Bitcoin exchange Coinbase to allow payments to be processed through Bitcoin. With such a partnership in place, companies that utilize Braintree to make their payments would be able to trade using Bitcoin, causing an increased demand for the cryptocurrency.
