1  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / BIP-174 vs Lightning network on: September 07, 2018, 02:01:27 PM
I have read that BIP174 should come to bitcoin in 0.17.0 which shouldn't be long from now.

From an article I found:

Quote
If implemented soon, users will be able to perform offline transactions through a protocol that allows them to establish standard formats for signing transactions without having to immediately upload them to the Bitcoin network.

I'm going to assume that this is easier to implement than LN. If that's the case, how is this any different from Lightning network in a technical level? and why do we need to have multiple solutions If there are not much different from each other.

Apparently, this proposal was made by achow101 so I guess he's in the best position to answer this but everyone is welcomed, thank you!
2  Other / Meta / Trade.io spamming on: August 14, 2018, 09:32:10 PM
What's all with the Trade.io spam that has been going for few weeks now? I believe they had a successful ICO so I don't even want to think that they hired these bots and at the same time, I don't see why would someone do this If they were not asked to by the trade.io team? I'm not sure If there is a list of banned words or URLs but It would probably be a good idea to make topics that contain 'Trade.io' in title impossible to create.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Coinomi for Desktop on: August 14, 2018, 07:50:00 PM
I just visited their site and I saw the have completely re-done it. It looks awesome and they are apparently working in a Desktop wallet which looks much much better then the mobile version. What are your first impressions?

4  Economy / Services / FlowDocument - C# on: August 04, 2018, 05:01:22 PM
I'm looking for someone who is familiar with C#, the code should be in WPF, I don't really care If it's MVVM or code-behind as long as it works.

I have an SQL table, let's imagine:

Code:
SELECT FirstName, LastName, '' as [EmptyColumn1], '' as [EmptyColumn2] from USERS

So the first two columns will have the first and last name while the two last will remain name. I want to load these data into a FlowDocument or any other document really, as long as I'm able to keep the table header If there is a multiple pages.

The table should look like a real table (with borders and everything).

If you think you can do this, post below and we can negotiate a price. I can pay in BTC or ETH.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Rootstock - Smart contracts for bitcoin, is it to be trusted? on: July 31, 2018, 02:43:37 PM
A quick look to their partners:

BTC.com
Antpool
Bitmain
Bitpay
Xapo
Bitcoin India

If you're familiar with these companies, you would know that they have done in the past and they are not to be trusted. I'm not familiar with their other partners but regardless, do you believe Rootstock is a project that one should invest in and actually use?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ethereum and POS on: July 30, 2018, 03:12:18 PM
I had plans to start mining Ethereum at the end of 2017 but I then read that Ethereum was going to change to Proof of stake so mining would be useless and I didn't want to invest in graphic cards that I may not need. So, is this still in process or has been canceled?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Etherscan vs Ethplorer on: July 16, 2018, 11:27:54 AM
I prefer Etherscan.io when it comes to checking my addresses and transactions because of the design but I would to know about the API If someone have used them before.

Which one is better when it comes to the limits and data that it can provide?
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin ETF on: July 14, 2018, 08:40:38 PM
If there is something I've learned in the crypto world in the past few years is that whenever people expect something that could dramatically increase/decrease the price, it never happens (take the halving block reward for example).

This should be no different. I honestly suggest everyone to forget about the ETF and 10th of august. If it happens, good and If it doesn't, move on. Please don't put too much hopes on it.
9  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Submarine Swaps vs Atomic swaps? on: July 08, 2018, 05:06:42 PM
My current understanding is that they are different, atomic swaps are for off chain transactions while submarine are for the on chain transactions. Is that anywhere accurate?

If my above statement is indeed true then how come Submarine uses LN even the lightning network is actually off-chain? I'm a bit lost at this point.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Trade.io spam? on: June 29, 2018, 08:02:51 PM
What's going on with Trade.io? It seems like there are members, newbies mostly who keep spamming about trade.io all over the place.

I believe trade.io is a legitimate project and they raised enough money during the ICO so I don't see why would they use bots to push their project and If it's not them, I don't see what's in it for anyone to do this. am I missing something?
11  Economy / Web Wallets / Is blockchain.info to be trusted? on: June 26, 2018, 09:49:22 AM
I'm not speaking from the perspective of whether they are accessing user funds or not. I'm referring to the fact that they promised in December or January IIRC that they'll be supporting SegWit soon but until now, we haven't seen anything instead, we're seeing updates for ETH, BCH and there built in exchange.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Projects that worth waiting for on: June 19, 2018, 06:28:22 PM
Shitcoins aside, I'm trying to have an idea about the projects that one should be excited about and that will greatly help bitcoin. I managed to find Altcoin.io and RSK.co. Anything else? If possible, an estimation of the release date and a link to the GitHub repository.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Altcoins calendar on: June 18, 2018, 04:39:28 PM
There was a website being advertised on the forums like, I don't remember when exactly but 2-4 weeks ago probably which is basically a calendar for events (conferences, forks etc.) regarding every coin out there. I can't manage to find the site anymore, any ideas?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Exchanges and ICOs on: June 12, 2018, 05:05:42 PM
I'm just here to give everyone an advice. Think twice before you invest in an ICO or use an exchange from now on If you're not willing to do any kind of personal info verification.

Tezos is now asking their users who participated in the ICO to do KYC/AML, failing to do so means that you won't get your coins. It's not their right because they didn't disclose the need of doing any verification when the ICO took place.

Same thing happened with Bittrex and other exchanges where they suddenly decided that they want to ask people to verify their identity and of course, failing to do that will get your funds lost.
15  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / The usability of Lightning network on: June 08, 2018, 07:54:45 AM
If you visit the repository of wallets such as Zap, Eclair etc. you'll see a bunch of instructions to get them working and even more instructions If you want to use them on the mainnet. I know that It's experimental for now but is this going to change? It seems like LN is not for the average user. (download, install and go).
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / MyCrypto app on: May 31, 2018, 10:40:33 AM
I have found that they created a desktop app which looks interesting. I want to know what your thoughts and is it an actual application or they are simply loading the site into the app? and how stable is it?
17  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Understanding Atomic Swaps on: May 26, 2018, 11:45:41 AM
My current understanding is that Atomic swaps will allow exchange between multiple crypto currencies in a trustless way without the need of a third party.

If Lightning network is going to be a requirement to activate it. Does it mean that It's going to be impossible to trade ETH to BTC as ETH has no LN? Atomic swaps have to be developed in each currency in order to be able to use it to exchange?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Poloniex dying? on: May 21, 2018, 08:25:38 AM
What's going on with them? they were on the top of the game but no one is talking about them anymore. I also see a lot of ICOs around but honestly, I can't even remember the last I've seen a project announcing listing their coin there.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A new bitcoin documentary on: May 07, 2018, 03:07:17 PM
I just came across this new documentary which came out like 1 month ago. I didn't finish watching it but yeah, it looks interesting. See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LszOt51OjXU
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Myetherwallet DNS servers were hijacked on: April 24, 2018, 04:14:58 PM
I don't know who's still using MEW at this point with MyCrypto being a better version of the site but I thought about letting you guys know, be careful.
