Economy / Exchanges / Coinbase in the UK
|
on: November 23, 2023, 02:40:38 PM

I need someone who already used Coinbase in the UK.
A friend wants to buy some BTC/USDT using his bank account, but can't figure out how. He gave me his credentials, but from what I can see, he can only use his card (with a limit of 300 GBP per week) or PayPal account. There is no option to choose a bank account from the payment methods list. Any thoughts as to why is that?

Economy / Exchanges / USDT/BTC to Fiat in Turkey
|
on: November 12, 2023, 11:22:46 AM

So I have a friend who wants to convert a large amount (probably around 30-50K worth of crypto) to fiat currency (preferably EURO though). He's not a Turkish citizen though but I believe he has a residency there. Obviously, he doesn't mind going through the KYC process.
I want to know what's the best (fastest/cheapest) way to convert those funds and what are some of the difficulties he might face.
1. Are there any local exchanges in Turkey that one could use but still get EUR or USD instead of Turkish Lira? 2. How about cash? Is it legal and is it possible to find people to trade with for such amounts? I checked Binance P2P. There are multiple offers but for TRY only. If you receive that, could you just withdraw the Lira directly in EURO? 3. I would imagine? that as a last resort, one could always use any exchange that supports SWIFT but I'm not sure what would that look like in terms of fees.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / JoyID - A passwordless wallet
|

First, I would like to start by saying that I'm not affiliated with this project in any way. It's just a project that I have been keeping an eye on for some time because I found it to be interesting, and they just officially launched on the main net a few hours ago, so I thought I'd share[1][2]. The app is a non-custodial multi-coin wallet (currently only supports Ethereum, Polygon, and the Nervos network) but should support BTC, SOL, and other coins later. Unlike other wallets, this wallet uses passkeys. You don't need an email, a phone number, seedphrase, or any of that. See here for more info[3]. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this? I just started using it and will make sure to post updates as they add more features and coins. [1] https://joy.id/[2] https://docs.joy.id/guide[3] https://joy.id/faqs

|
on: October 22, 2023, 04:10:25 PM
|
[1] https://www.youtube.com/shorts/R2asE78rs38

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Cheapest way to transfer funds to Linea/zkSync
|
on: September 04, 2023, 09:27:57 AM
|
I would imagine that the cheapest way would be to use a CEX. Could you recommend one to me? I know that OKX supports Linea but I have stopped using them since they implemented KYC. I need to transfer the funds from Polygon zkEVM but I'm flexible. I don't mind going through Bitcoin, or some other coin if needed as long as the process is as cheap as possible. I'm aware of bridges like Orbiter Finance, but that's a bit too expensive (for the small amount I'm trying to move).

Economy / Exchanges / Hong kong x Bitcoin
|
on: September 03, 2023, 02:37:13 PM
|
So maybe it was me who had the wrong assumptions here, but wasn't everyone excited about Hong Kong and HashKey launching as the first crypto platform there on the 28th of August? I was really expecting to see millions of dollars in terms of trading volume but now that I'm checking the platform: https://www.hashkey.com/en-US/spot/BTC_USD (If you can't access the link, use a VPN with Hong Kong servers). It's very disappointing, to say the least (less than 100K volume). So what am I missing here?
