https://b.tc/conference/mena

https://watcher.guru/bitcoin-halving

4  Economy / Exchanges / Bitforex.com goes offline after 55 million withdrawal on: February 26, 2024, 12:45:53 PM
They stopped processing withdrawals a couple of days ago. Today, the site is down[1] and if you visit the site, you will be welcomed by a Cloudflare page saying:

https://www.bitforex.com/

Code:
Sorry, you have been blocked
You are unable to access bitforex.com

There is no information from then on their social media, the last tweet was on the 21st of February.

5  Economy / Exchanges / FixedFloat has been hacked (26M $) on: February 19, 2024, 07:26:15 PM
So I'm pretty sure lots of you here have already heard of this instant exchange. It got hacked a few hours ago[1][2].

The team did confirm the hack and denied that it was an inside job. They're currently in maintenance mode.

6  Local / العربية (Arabic) / بيتكوين ETF on: January 09, 2024, 08:57:59 AM

7  Economy / Exchanges / OKX to delist privacy coins on: December 29, 2023, 12:44:06 PM
https://www.okx.com/help/okx-to-delist-several-spot-trading-pairs-12-29

So it looks like OKX has decided to delist all the trading pairs for privacy coins: Monero, ZCash, Dash.

They didn't mention anything about the "cause" but I think it's clear. The question now is... which exchanges are going to follow? Binance also announced a similar thing a few months back but then changed their minds. Thoughts?
8  Economy / Exchanges / Coinbase in the UK on: November 23, 2023, 02:40:38 PM
I need someone who already used Coinbase in the UK.

A friend wants to buy some BTC/USDT using his bank account, but can't figure out how. He gave me his credentials, but from what I can see, he can only use his card (with a limit of 300 GBP per week) or PayPal account. There is no option to choose a bank account from the payment methods list. Any thoughts as to why is that?
9  Economy / Service Discussion / Bit.store card on: November 22, 2023, 04:29:11 PM
Just saw a press release[1][2] of this service called bit store. I thought I'd share it, and also get some reviews in case anyone has used them before. The card have 2.5% top-up fee, and the company claims that KYC verification is not mandatory with a limit of 10K USD per month.

10  Economy / Exchanges / USDT/BTC to Fiat in Turkey on: November 12, 2023, 11:22:46 AM
So I have a friend who wants to convert a large amount (probably around 30-50K worth of crypto) to fiat currency (preferably EURO though). He's not a Turkish citizen though but I believe he has a residency there. Obviously, he doesn't mind going through the KYC process.

I want to know what's the best (fastest/cheapest) way to convert those funds and what are some of the difficulties he might face.

1. Are there any local exchanges in Turkey that one could use but still get EUR or USD instead of Turkish Lira?
2. How about cash? Is it legal and is it possible to find people to trade with for such amounts? I checked Binance P2P. There are multiple offers but for TRY only. If you receive that, could you just withdraw the Lira directly in EURO?
3. I would imagine? that as a last resort, one could always use any exchange that supports SWIFT but I'm not sure what would that look like in terms of fees.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / JoyID - A passwordless wallet on: November 06, 2023, 01:09:27 PM
First, I would like to start by saying that I'm not affiliated with this project in any way.

It's just a project that I have been keeping an eye on for some time because I found it to be interesting, and they just officially launched on the main net a few hours ago, so I thought I'd share[1][2].

The app is a non-custodial multi-coin wallet (currently only supports Ethereum, Polygon, and the Nervos network) but should support BTC, SOL, and other coins later.

Unlike other wallets, this wallet uses passkeys. You don't need an email, a phone number, seedphrase, or any of that. See here for more info[3].

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this? I just started using it and will make sure to post updates as they add more features and coins.

12  Local / العربية (Arabic) / البيتكوين و الانتخابات الأرجنتينية on: October 22, 2023, 04:10:25 PM

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 🚨 Galxe has been hacked on: October 06, 2023, 04:48:17 PM
For those who are familiar with the platform, and use it on a regular basis to complete tasks for different projects, you should stop using it. Don't connect your wallet, and don't sign any transactions either. It has been hacked as mentioned here[1].

I see some people reporting some losses of huge numbers, but not sure if they're just trolling or it's real. Either way, don't use it for now.

14  Economy / Service Discussion / Revolut bitcoin deposit on: October 03, 2023, 12:00:57 PM
Does anyone here by any chance use Revolut for trading bitcoin? I sent BTC to someone's (I know) Revolut generated address but the funds have not been credited yet. Any thoughts on why? The transaction does show as "Pending" but has received multiple confirmations (17 so far), and the overall balance still shows as zero for some reason. This is all I managed to find[1] but it's pretty vague.

15  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / [Discussion] Spiderchains on: September 24, 2023, 07:29:30 PM
So I have been seeing a few articles about "Spiderchains"[1][2] lately, which is meant to be a Proof-of-stake L2 solution for Bitcoin. I still haven't done much reading about it, but I thought it would be a good idea to share it here since I didn't see any discussion about it.

The network is still not open to the public yet,  but you can join the waitlist from the official site. And for those interested in reading about it (technical) you can start here[3].

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Importing seedphrase to Coinbase wallet on: September 23, 2023, 11:52:56 AM
I have been trying to import a seedphrase to Coinbase wallet but to no avail. I keep getting the same error "Something went wrong" although I'm sure that the seedphrase is correct. The phrase belongs to Trustwallet, but that shouldn't be an issue since both use BIP39. Has anyone been facing the same problem lately?
17  Economy / Exchanges / Bybit to suspend operations in the U.K on: September 22, 2023, 04:06:27 PM
So after Canada[1], it looks like Bybit is suspending its operation in the UK as well[2]. Starting next month, UK citizens will be able to neither make new accounts, nor deposit funds if they already have an account. For withdrawals, they have until the 8th of January 2024.

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Cheapest way to transfer funds to Linea/zkSync on: September 04, 2023, 09:27:57 AM
I would imagine that the cheapest way would be to use a CEX. Could you recommend one to me? I know that OKX supports Linea but I have stopped using them since they implemented KYC. I need to transfer the funds from Polygon zkEVM but I'm flexible. I don't mind going through Bitcoin, or some other coin if needed as long as the process is as cheap as possible. I'm aware of bridges like Orbiter Finance, but that's a bit too expensive (for the small amount I'm trying to move).
19  Economy / Service Discussion / [Discussion] Bitcoin Spot ETFs on: September 03, 2023, 03:13:32 PM
With all of the talk about Bitcoin Spot ETFs lately, I thought it would be a good idea to make a topic so we can discuss them.

This right here is the SEC's deadlines to issue a decision about the different ETFs (Source: BeInCrypto[1]):

So now with them missing the first deadline, the next one will be next Month (the 17th of October). Your thoughts on this? The good, the bad, the odds of getting approved?

20  Economy / Exchanges / Hong kong x Bitcoin on: September 03, 2023, 02:37:13 PM
So maybe it was me who had the wrong assumptions here, but wasn't everyone excited about Hong Kong and HashKey launching as the first crypto platform there on the 28th of August? I was really expecting to see millions of dollars in terms of trading volume but now that I'm checking the platform:

https://www.hashkey.com/en-US/spot/BTC_USD (If you can't access the link, use a VPN with Hong Kong servers).

It's very disappointing, to say the least (less than 100K volume). So what am I missing here?
