I know we are all hoping for a better year, even if you did well in 2020 it can (and will) get better.

What are you hoping for, wishing for, or are going to MAKE happen for you in 2021 ?

There is a 2080ti XC on Amazon for $1299...the 3070 could be a game changer...if you can get your hands on 1 (or 6).

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Will the aggressive pricing of the RTX 3070/3080/3090 line push card prices down on: September 03, 2020, 04:15:22 PM

Do you think the aggressive pricing and performance of NVIDIA - RTX 3080, 3070, and 3090 line will push card prices down?

Can't wait to see the benchmarks...

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Who is going to buy the RTX 3090 ? on: September 03, 2020, 12:20:35 AM
Who is going to pick up a few RTX 3090s (or 3080s, 3070s) ?

"Nvidia has finally detailed its new line of video cards, which is under the new Ampere architecture. Specifically, the RTX 3080, 3070, and 3090 cards were revealed. These are the second generation of RTX cards that will run features like real-time ray tracing with much higher performance than current RTX cards.

The RTX 3080 is set to launch on September 17 for $700 USD, and the RTX 3070 was also revealed with a release window in October and a price of $500. The massive high-end card, the RTX 3090, is said to be capable of 8K resolution at 60 FPS performance--the RTX 3090 will launch on September 24 and pricing starts at a whopping $1500. RTX 3000 series pre-orders are not yet available, but Nvidia's website does have a "notify me" button if you're eager to place an order. Traditionally, a new line of GPUs sells out quickly when they first go up for pre-order, and that could easily be the case here due to Nvidia's surprisingly aggressive pricing."

Who is stocking up on Toilet Paper and other things going into Fall/Winter?

Do you think it's necessary to keep a 30 or 60 day (or more) supply of goods (Food/TP/ETC)

Preppers don't be shy...
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining PrOn - did you ever build a mining rig for beauty / aesthetics on: August 03, 2020, 02:54:29 PM

You know what I'm talking about - sure you can just lay the components on a wood table/frame - fans at top speed - cranking out "hash"

OR

did you try and make it look good - same color components, same glowing fans, neat cable routing, equally spaced on racks (or in the same cases).

Tell me about your current or past mining rig setup or post some pics. Maybe it's just me, but I love looking at neat/organized mining setups.

11  Economy / Economics / Second Stimulus check - What are you going to do with it? on: August 03, 2020, 06:02:05 AM

I think is thread is USA focused as we (many, not everyone) are about to get another stimulus check. What are you going to spend it on ?

Video card(s)?

New Computer?

Stocks?

Pay off credit cards?

Buy Crypto?

Bills, bills, bills?

Something you want to keep secret?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Do you fear the president of your country, one day, making Crypto illegal ? on: August 03, 2020, 01:28:07 AM

What if, for example - like after that twitter hack - the President wakes up (in a bad mood) and decides with an executive order to make all crypto illegal in the USA?

Of course this probably will never happen in today's world, as the there is big money is invested into crypto currencies; but do you ever think that it is even remotely possible...

Or the next elected president is so "old school" and decides that crypto needs to go?

I don't mean only America, what about in your country; do think that a future ban on crypto currencies is ever possible in your country?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Does this Forum have:COLLECTIVE POWER to get behind 1 coin and make a difference on: August 03, 2020, 12:48:41 AM
Does this Forum have the COLLECTIVE POWER to get behind one (or 2) coins and make a difference?

So many choices, so many people, so many promises, so many dreams, so many different points of view.

BUT together can a large group of people make a difference? I don't mean spam a scam, is there something out there that everyone here can get behind; a new project, a new coin, an idea  or an old project / old idea that needs to come back?

Seems like big money and big media still controls everything; and most large groups without leadership can't agree on anything.

BUT:

What's out there that creates a spark like bitcoin did in it's early days (lol, maybe that's not the best example as MANY people dissed BTC), but the true believers know what I'm talking about.

I don't mean [only] financial returns; What's out there that make you excited ?

What is out there that you would recommend?

What's out there that; maybe, just maybe, we should all get behind and support?

14  Other / Meta / Where to post asking if anyone is interested in starting a "project" together? on: July 14, 2020, 08:00:10 PM

I don't want to get into trouble, but I've search and search and I am not exactly sure where to post a few questions (and ideas) about a project I've been thinking about starting. I'm not really recruiting anyone, but I want to toss around a few ideas and get some feedback, maybe form a "exploratory" team (If that can be done).

Of course the board rules come first.

16  Economy / Economics / The US Stimulus - How do you feel about it ? Too little to late? on: April 13, 2020, 07:48:41 PM

The US Stimulus - How do you feel about it in general and also in how it is divided?

Do you think more should have gone to small businesses and families/individuals?

17  Economy / Economics / Stock market, bubbles, US economy, distribution of wealth...Americans=no savings on: April 12, 2020, 04:03:05 PM

Without getting political...it seems every 10 or so years we see another bubble burst, my question to you economic experts:

Do you think the current way wealth is distributed in the United States is one of the leading causes of this trend...and also do you think that if we had a "more fair" distribution of wealth (and I do not mean tax the rich and give it to the poor - I mean higher wages - I believe wages have been more or less stagnate, for most of Americans, for about 20 years)...[cont] a "more fair" distribution of wealth, the bubbles bursts would not be so extreme AND (in this case) Americans would have more money/savings for emergencies.

Currently money is pouring into the stock market again (greed and no alternatives), and we aren't even out of this mess yet, most likely because rich investors have no place else to put the money - with possible inflation around the corner, holding on to cash is risky (my take).

What do you think?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What are you mining right now? on: April 12, 2020, 02:01:12 PM

Many people are at home...which gives you time to research and tweak your mining machines.

So, what are you mining right now and are you happy with the results?

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / "The collapse of ETH is inevitable" - Article on: September 07, 2018, 02:17:51 AM

"The collapse of ETH is inevitable"

https://techcrunch.com/2018/09/02/the-collapse-of-eth-is-inevitable/

"Here’s a prediction. ETH — the asset, not the Ethereum Network itself — will go to zero.

Those who already think that ETH will not see real adoption — thanks to a failure to scale, to adopt more secure contract authoring practices,
or to out-compete its competitors — don’t need to be convinced that a price collapse would follow as a consequence. "

I'm sure many of you will disagree with this article...

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Exploring the Threadripper 2 and its mining capabilities on: June 10, 2018, 11:12:36 PM
Has anyone looked into the specs here, looks like a nice upgrade for some of you.

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2018/06/amd-unveils-threadripper-2-up-to-32-cores-64-threads-for-an-enthusiast-chip/

"AMD's Threadripper platform gave a hefty boost to the high-end desktop (HEDT) market: 16 cores and 32 threads using AMD's Zen architecture. Today, AMD announced the second generation of Threadripper: it's twice as big again, with up to 32 cores and 64 threads, and it uses the revised Zen+ core of the second-generation Ryzen chips."

https://www.techspot.com/news/74951-amd-reveals-32-core64-thread-threadripper-2.html

"The flagship processor—the 32 core—will have four Ryzen die inside the package. Those are tied together with AMD's Infinity fabric that allows those four die to act like one monster processor working altogether," said AMD senior vice president and general manager of computing and graphics, Jim Anderson.

Some current X399 motherboards could struggle with Threadripper 2 when it comes to power delivery, though this might only mean more restrictive overclocking. However, we’ve seen refreshed X399 boards at Computex with improved power delivery capabilities (19-phase VRM) designed with Threadripper 2 and its many cores in mind.

In addition to Threadripper 2, AMD said a Radeon RX Vega 56 “nano” graphics card designed for Mini-ITX systems is now shipping. It also announced a new generation of Vega GPUs for workstations and datacenters based on the 7nm process and featuring four stacks of high-bandwidth memory (HBM2) totalling 32GB. It added that people should “stay tuned” for the 7nm consumer GPUs.
