1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / future of Bitcoin for 2015 mentioned in Fox News article on: January 04, 2015, 07:34:36 PM
LOL.

"Bitcoin will continue to be the currency of choice for drug dealers, conspiracy theorists, and loony enthusiasts who really should get a life … and a job."

Will this forum ever use the Tapatalk API? I much prefer Tapatalk for browsing forums on mobile devices rather than using a Web browser. I'm sure some others do too.
3  Bitcoin / Mycelium / question about Mycelium wallet app on: November 12, 2014, 03:04:58 AM
I recently installed the Mycelium Wallet app on my phone and I really like it so far.  I decided to test the backup and restore functionality of it though before I decided to store any bitcoins in the wallet app (I was just using it to track balances of paper wallets before now).  I moved $2 into the Mycelium Wallet "HD" account, which Mycelium said contained 1 private key.  Once the $2.00 was there, I removed the app from my phone and then reinstalled it.  When it opened, it asked if I wanted to restore from backup, so I said yes and then entered in the 12 words required to restore the master seed.  Once that was done, it sync'd up and displayed the correct balance again, which is $2.00 USD.  However, now that "HD" account has 2 private keys.  Why is this?  Why does it have two now?
4  Economy / Service Discussion / Coinbase vs Bitstamp on: October 27, 2014, 10:05:32 PM
Through these forums, I recently learned that Coinbase turns over its customer information to the IRS for tax purposes.  That's not cool.  As someone living in the U.S., is there an advantage of using Bitstamp as your exchange over Coinbase?  The one advantage I can think of is that they aren't obligated to comply with U.S. laws and thus report any of your account information to the IRS.  Is there more to it than this though?  Please fill me in. Thanks.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / need help understanding bitcoin mixing on: October 24, 2014, 01:41:51 AM
Can someone give me a bitcoin mixing for dummies lesson?  I want to understand this better.  I've read a few of the posts by newbies and some folks have recommended to them to mix their bitcoins. What does this involve and how hard is it to do?
6  Other / Beginners & Help / bitcoin core (qt) question on: October 12, 2014, 04:35:37 PM
I just installed bitcoin core on my mac a few days ago and it finally finished syncing. I have a question though. Can someone explain the "transanction" fee portion that you can set within the options? I know there is a low default value that is set, but you have the ability to increase the transaction fees. Why would you do this?
