We have some good news coming shortly -- stay tuned!

It’s AMAZING (Spider-Man), It’s INCREDIBLE (Hulk), It’s SUPER (well, you know), It’s FANTASTIC (Four), It’s the MIGHTIEST (Avengers), It’s SPECTACULAR (Spider-Man again), It’s THE WORLD”S GREATEST DETECTIVE (Batman). OK, it’s not that last one, but the coin you have all been waiting for has arrived. It’s the COLOSSAL Comic Book Coin!

Now, you may be thinking, what exactly is Comic Book Coin? Will it strive to become a currency of choice among collectors? Will it be on a campaign to have comic book shops accept CBC as a common currency? Will it be used to reward blogs, videos and other comic book content all across the web? Yes, CBC will be on a mission toward all of those goals (and more!).

But, let’s face the alt coin world facts as they really are. Many “developers” and community members have similar plans for their coins as well. And often (though not always) through no fault of their own, the coin and/or the community slowly fades away. There are so many coins on the market which are essentially just empty block chains, taking up a bit more internet space.

Comic Book Coin will be different. It will actually own comic books. This coin will have value even if the fiat world hits hyperinflation or ceases altogether or even if those crypto coin FUD mongers and whales (but, I repeat myself) decide to try and take the coin to zero (or as close to it as they can muster). That is because we will be using the funds to collect comics. If some sort of disaster should ever strike, Comic Book Coin can just sell its collection and send all of its holders a nice dividend. Now, don’t get us wrong. We are certainly not predicting any disasters and it is highly doubtful that whales would be interested in trying to take the coin down. The most salient point we are trying to make is that Comic Book Coin will be more than just another block chain -- there will be valuable assets behind it.

We are very excited about the alt coin market but maybe even more excited about the comic book market. So we have merged these two entities and come up with Comic Book Coin (CBC). It is explained in fuller detail on http://www.comicbookcoin.com/ (and below), but essentially CBC is going to initially concentrate on collecting great comic books. We think that this method will bring increasing value over time to coin holders. And with about 40 new comic book movies planned over the next few years, collecting should stay in a good place for some time to come.

And where do we think this coin is going?

OF COURSE! But, while we certainly feel that Comic Book Coin should be a "Rocket To The Moon", it is always important to do your own research. The website has more details naturally, but it is always prudent to investigate what the crypto currency market in general is all about, especially if you are new to the scene, so to speak.

The first year the plan is to release about 10 million coins. This will be followed by approximately 5 million the following year and every year thereafter for 14 years. This will allow for a shrinking percentage of “inflation” due to coin issuance. This will total 80 million coins after fifteen years, with 8 million more for a bit of wiggle room. These exact numbers may be subject to change to protect coin holders. Please see website for full details.

That potential number of coins (88 million) is many, many years down the road however, and will only even be reached if CBC is well on its way to making the coin holders very happy. We do feel that a relatively large number of potential coins is a good way to keep the price of each coin at an affordable level for the average person. But, there will be far less at the beginning of this process.

Comic Book Coin is looking to build a community of people interested in collecting comic book related items. Of course, we have no control over who decides to purchase CBC, but our hope is to have a nice group of people who share our passion for comics and maybe even coins too!

Now, we are fully aware that some Bitcointalk members couldn't care less what any coin is doing as long as they can mine it to the hilt. Therefore, CBC will probably make those Bitcointalk members unhappy -- speaking of which:

This post is more in the vein of a courtesy as many of you (especially the miners) here at Bitcointalk Forum may not like this coin for the following reasons:

CBC will be a pre-generated, or to use a common term, “pre-mined” coin with a total (possible) coin amount of 88 million (after many, many years). We have decided that this method is the easiest and fairest way of distributing this coin. In addition, it avoids (for the most part) things such as attacks, forks, blockchain bloat and other glitches.

We at Comic Book Coin have a soft spot for Bitcoin forum and visit it nearly every day. But, let's face some facts. Coins are having a tough time with the sheer volume of FUD that takes place here. Undoubtedly, some of that is richly deserved. But, it has gotten to the point of ridiculousness at this point. This is also a "colored coin" or a "token coin" or an "asset coin" or whatever the proper term is at the present time, using the Ripple protocol. There will be no separate blockchain that needs constant tweaking and fork avoiding. Therefore, for most of you, there will be little interest in it. Still, we felt that it was only right to put an Announcement page up on this forum. This is meant to be a fun coin (although, with serious upside as well). FUD will not be tolerated. The distribution method (pre-mined) should discourage many of you sharks/whales from some of your initial manipulation games, at least. But, regardless, this forum is not going to be allowed to turn into the cesspool that many others have.

That being said, we will happily go into the details of the coin with you (although it ain't too complicated) and even just talk comics! We look forward to the future of Comic Book Coin!

WARNING: While many people have been researching, mining and/or buying and selling Bitcoin and other crypto currencies for years, some of you may be new to this and just came here specifically to learn about Comic Book Coin. The risks are well known to most of you here, and the following will probably seem boring and unnecessary. And some of the items mentioned are not even applicable to Comic Book Coin. And yes, the warnings can be considered by many to be, well, excessive, might be the best word. However, for the newbies, it is important that you understand the risks of the crypto market. One goal of the following is to get new people to (hopefully) do a little research regarding the crypto market before jumping in with both feet.

Crypto currencies are risky, including the granddaddy of them all, Bitcoin. Extremely high price fluctuations are the norm. In addition, there is no telling what the future will bring regarding regulations. While Bitcoin may not be able to be destroyed (as it exists only in the internet -- to put it simply), governments can make it difficult to legally do business with Bitcoin and other alts. In fact, some governments have (intermittently) tried to slow or stop alt coins from gaining traction in their respective countries. Additionally, while no one has ever “hacked” Bitcoin, there have been some alt coins which have been damaged by hackers (usually through exchanges). There is also some danger of huge “mining” operations controlling over 50% of any particular coin, which could change the balance of power in a coin and make it ripe for manipulation and/or destruction. Some crypto coins, including some of the largest can be aggressively targeted by “whales” and “sharks”, who use their resources to make a coin go higher or lower with the sole aim of making themselves money. Praising coins to the sky or trashing them to the gutter often has very little relation to the actual merits of said coin. There are even reports of paid trolls to do just those things on the forums to help force a coin higher or lower. Your personal ownership of coins should be watched as well, with difficult passwords and other precautions to prevent any hackers into your computer.

IMPORTANT: Regulators may rule that some alt coins (or all) constitute “securities” or "currencies" or who knows what else and are therefore “illegal”. Comic Book Coin is in no way attempting to be a rebel with or without a cause. Should some variation of regulation occur, we will do everything possible to immediately comply. That includes, but is not limited to "registering" with whoever is needed, moving the coin to required exchanges, severing the connection of assets to coin or even ceasing to issue any more coins at all. While we believe that regulation is not needed (mostly anyway), and not likely to be nearly as severe as those just mentioned fictional scenarios, we are also aware that powerful interests that contribute a lot of money to politicians are not huge fans of crypto currencies. Banks and Wall Street have huge fees that are protected by the government. In other words , when it comes to any future regulation, anything could happen. In short, we plan to be above board at all times and will comply with any and all possible future regulation.

That quick summary is just to let you new people know that investments in all coins are, in no uncertain terms, risky. There are, we are sure, even more risks than those mentioned, so be careful. This is supposed to be fun. Do not risk huge amounts of your hard earned money in any coin, and that includes Comic Book Coin. It is best to assume that all coins will go to zero (yes, even Bitcoin) when making investment decisions in this area. Of course, we don’t think that will happen, in fact we highly doubt that will happen, but it is important to point out that no one knows the future for cryptos (or anything else for that matter). Assume every coin will get hacked or is filled with incompetence or is some sort of scam or will be regulated out of existence or anything else you can think of. From there, do your research and only invest what you can afford to lose. Crypto currencies have been on a great ride (both up and down!) and it is no doubt a fun pastime. In addition, we at Comic Book Coin think there is a great future in crypto currencies (well, obviously). But we also feel that a warning to those new to this world is important. What better way to start off the CBC collection than with Avengers Annual #7! Yes, even before the coin has been issued, we are seeding the pot with a beloved classic. This 1977 comic book is not really rare as this was about the time that more comic book readers were beginning to take greater care with their hobby. Still, we feel that this comic has great upside, especially in the higher rated categories. Our (your) copy has a 9.8 grade by the Certified Guarantee Company (CGC) and is in one of their sealed cases. According to their website that is the highest grade that they have ever given to this book. Now, as you comics collectors know, that does not mean that there are no copies out in the world that would be rated even higher. It just means that of the Avengers Annual #7 copies that CGC has received for grading, none have thus far been graded higher than a 9.8. Additionally, there are quite a few with an identical rating to ours. With that being said, CBC feels that a 9.8 grade is terrific and for a book that is nearing forty years old, it will always be considered a desired copy.

According to comicspriceguide.com Avengers Annual #7 in a 9.8 grade is worth $160 in its “raw” form and $480 if “graded”. As mentioned we have a sealed 9.8 CGC certified copy. So, according to Comics Price Guide, the comic book is valued at the higher price. Now, their guide (as all comic book guides) has to be taken with a grain of salt as prices can change rapidly and even differ greatly due to the specific circumstances of a sale. Sometimes someone might just really want a certain comic and other times someone might just really need the money quickly. In the first instance the price might be significantly different than in the second instance. In many cases (not all), there is an upside surprise in price for very high graded books as well as a bit of a downside surprise awaiting those with the lower grade copies. We’ll have more on our feelings on listed prices a little later, but for now, let’s just say that CBC is very happy with our copy of Avengers Annual #7.
