1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Careless wallet? on: April 09, 2013, 10:52:33 PM
I guess I'll chalk it up to experience at this point. It seems that there might be someone else that had a handle on one of the private keys in an old wallet address of mine. I had transferred 2.29 BTC from an online fund to a wallet address (137XxRSiYRTB8PyGvEjjz5vZsd7oSNbdbE). After it received a confirmation, I end up seeing another transaction I didn't approve of sending those 2.29 BTC over to 1J8KsZqj8qWWUSqH2bmQHTTEm1xdNLY7AZ.

Not sure how this managed to happen, though I'm not too happy about it at this point. I've marked the wallet never to be used now. Not really looking for a solution unless anyone knows who or how it may have happened, but it sucks to see bitcoins disappear like that especially at the current valuation... Sad
2  Economy / Digital goods / [WTS] 1600 Point XBox Live Code (US Only) on: March 23, 2013, 01:05:09 AM
Hey guys, I just bought a 1600 point XBox live code that I can't use. I'm in Canada and it was US only so I can't redeem. I'm looking to either trade for a valid Canadian code or sell for 0.30 BTC (the amount I paid).

EDIT: Refund was processed by unexpectedly. Good service from those guys.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Importing bitcoins from private key on: November 04, 2012, 02:31:40 AM
I am having a weird issue that has been lingering for a while but I'm just now trying to get a handle on it. I had an old version of the bitcoin software installed on another computer and the bitcoin address in use was on that system. When I upgraded the bitcoin app, the wallet could no longer be read and would crash the app. I've since backed up the wallet.dat file and have now dumped all the keys from it to find the private key associated with one of the addresses. It was an address that Slush had sent bitcoins to because I hadn't changed the sending address yet, so now I have bitcoins lost in the etherverse (or whatever the hell you want to call it.

The wallet address was 1BVj9obg3TDPHLxYYP31nZBZBtgrdTBfkS, so when I used pywallet to dump the wallet contents, I found the wallet address on an "addr" line, but 2 lines down was the private key "5J4K........" on the "sec" line.

First off, is this the private key associated with that bitcoin address? Second, how do I get the coins back from it? I copied the key into the bitcoin debug using 'importprivkey 5J4K.......... OldWallet", and it did import, but when it did, I don't have bitcoins from the address, and there seems to be a new public address associated with it.

Any ideas?

UPDATE: I just took the pywallet output and threw it into a blockchain wallet. I seem to have my coins back now.

UPDATE 2: I seem to not quite have my coins back. Even after importing the pywallet dump and having the blockchain wallet see the available funds, when I try and send them to my new wallet, it is asking for the private address. When I copy what I assume is the private address, it says that it is a watch only address, so I can't send. I guess I'm stuck again.

Final UPDATE: I ran the old wallet through Gavins bitcointools and just output an updated wallet using I took the fixed wallet, renamed the current wallet and brought it in. Seems to have worked out, and I was able to send all its contents where I wanted it sent.
4  Economy / Currency exchange / Interested in trading MtGox USD for CDN currency on: August 27, 2011, 01:28:31 AM
As the subject said. I'm looking for someone or a service that will provide an inexpensive way for me to transfer CDN currency, possibly through Interac email money transfer (or paypal even though it seems to be frowned upon around here), in exchange for MtGox USD redeemable codes at an agreed upon exchange value. In the near term, I'm looking to transfer $500 to $750, and future trades may vary.

I'm new on the forum and will provide credentials and information in private to prove my identity and trustworthiness.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Buying MtGox code for CDN funds via Interac e-transfer on: August 26, 2011, 10:35:52 PM
I'm interested in purchasing USD on MtGox with Canadian funds. At present, I'm looking to purchase about $750 USD for MtGox 1:1 with CAD. Since I just joined this forum, I can't seem to post in the marketplace. PM me if interested and we can exchange information. I have credentials outside of this forum I can share to try and prove trustworthiness to properly complete the transaction. Ideally, I'm looking to be able to make more transfers in the future, so I'm interested in someone or a service that might be willing to transact more funds as necessary in the future.
