41  Economy / Trading Discussion / Here Is A Bitcoin-Scenario You Need To Be Aware Of - Must See! on: March 05, 2018, 01:13:58 PM

How do you become a good trader? Do you think you are good at predicting things? D4rkEnergY has said it before, but he will say it again:

Good forecasters all share one trait (besides being intelligent): open-mindedness. In everyday life, open-mindedness may be mistaken for having liberal political views, but in psychology it is thought to reflect how well you deal with uncertainty. Crucially, open-minded people tend to be able to see problems from all sides, which seems to help forecasters overcome their preconceptions in the light of new evidence.

So what does that mean? You probably remember, when I made this prediction 2 weeks ago? 2 Bitcoin-Scenarios You Need to Know About - The Chosen Ones!

A member of China’s top political advisory board has proposed the creation of a national cryptocurrency exchange and other regulatory systems at one of the two annual sessions of China's top legislative and advisory bodies, local news outlet Lie Yun Wang reported on March 3.

Wang Pengjie, а member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), suggested that the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) and the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) should create a Blockchain and digital asset management “approval system,” as well as raised the possibility of establishing a digital asset trading platform at a national level.

Is ethereum's biggest future upgrade "fundamentally vulnerable?"

That was the claim put forward by distributed systems expert and founding VMware researcher Dahlia Malkhi on Friday, who used those exact words to describe ethereum's Casper protocol at Financial Cryptography 2018 in Curacao.

During a keynote presentation, Malkhi's covered blockchain through the lens of a long-studied area of computer science that explores how nodes come to agreement. Still, it was her critical remarks on Casper, an upgrade that has promised to introduce a better, greener algorithm for the ethereum blockchain, that perhaps drew the most notice.

If Telegram's ambitious blockchain project fails, investors can't say they weren't warned.

Along with the white paper and technical documents, prospective buyers in what could be one of the largest-ever initial coin offerings (ICOs) have received a nine-page memorandum spelling out the risks of buying the tokens. For investors in traditional markets, such a litany of dangers is a familiar sight - the documents list almost every conceivable thing that could go wrong.

But the Telegram document, a copy of which was obtained by CoinDesk, is striking because the company isn't offering equity. Instead, the tokens would be used for payments between users and to access various services on the proposed Telegram Open Network, once it is built.

The document may have been written out of an abundance of caution, considering the size of Telegram's initial coin offering (ICO) - potentially $2.5 billion.

46  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-03-02] Walmart Is Using Blockchain Tech to Make Shipping 'Smarter' on: March 02, 2018, 09:32:30 AM
A new patent filing finds retail giant Walmart seeking to utilize blockchain technology to perfect a smarter package delivery tracking system.

In an application released by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on Thursday, Walmart describes a "smart package" that would include a device which would record information on a blockchain regarding the contents of the package, its environmental conditions, its location and more. It also suggests that its smart package could be used in tandem with other emerging technologies including "autonomous vehicles," such as drones.

47  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-03-02] Forking a Fork: 'Bitcoin Private' Copies Zcash But What's it Worth? on: March 02, 2018, 09:31:57 AM
A fork of a fork of a fork?

With Friday's birth of a new coin called "bitcoin private," the cryptocurrency space just keeps getting more meta. The much-discussed launch finds the cryptocurrency being created from a copy of the zclassic cryptocurrency (itself a copy of zcash, which was a copy of bitcoin).

But if that sounds crazy, it's all - allegedly - in the spirit of innovation.

"The big experiment with airdropped coins was that they'll just fail, and if people are getting free coins, they'll just immediately sell them and it will dump down to pennies," said Rhett Creighton, who's leading the bitcoin private effort.

Yet, in a number of cases, that notion just didn't pan out.

48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / On consensus principle on: June 02, 2015, 08:16:52 AM
I wonder when these gavin-tards get it that Bitcoin is not broken and running fine. It is a rule of complex system to not change them when they are not broken. There is currently a consensus for 1MB blocks else the network would not be running.

The anti-20MB people have to prove nothing and also have to deliver nothing. All they have to do is tell the reasons for the veto and that's it. There is consensus for Bitcoin as is today else it would not be running. If you want to change it you need consensus. If you get a veto (which you did) then there is no consensus on that particular change and you need to accept that.

After getting a veto for your proposal you have two options:
1) producing a better proposal which will not get a veto
or
2) leave the group (bitcoin in this case)

That is how consensus principle works if you like it or not. There is even more sophisticated methods of approaching consensus but since you are all behaving like apes i'm not even trying.
It's not like consensus democracies would be something new or something. They are just not as commen and people generally have no idea about it.

If there would be interest in a real solution and people would have a interest in a non-violent way to find a solution i could think about sharing some info on consensus principles. Most can be read online, there are a lot of different methods though. The most basic method was outlined above.

The Gavintards can now stop crying and a) leave the group or b) produce a new proposal which does not get a veto. If the new proposal gets veto again you can produce another proposal and so on until you have one that can be accepted by everyone. Else there would be more sophisticated but also more complicated methods of approaching consensus wich have more hope for success than a process blocked by veto but as i said i'm not even starting on that in the current climate and the Gavintards so far also only showed a first proposal which was declined.

So really no need to cry like babies. Show some other proposals. 'My way or the highway' is DOA
49  Economy / Speculation / 3600 ... coins on: January 15, 2015, 07:16:44 AM
Which part of '3600 coins per day' do you not understand?
Bitcoin is still in socialist distribution phase for the next 5 years. So why on earth do you try to pump it? Are you monkeys or what's your problem?
