The CEO of a well known company:

1) Buys a shit load of bitcoin.

2) Announces plans to accept bitcoin payments (or something similar). Bitcoin price subsequently rises (hype).

3) Sells a shit load of bitcoin.

20  Economy / Gambling / Feeling a Bit Lucky? 100% payout lottery, no minimum entry, 2.00 BTC giveaway! on: August 30, 2011, 07:30:19 PM
Introducing... BitLucky.org

A new Bitcoin lottery with no minimum entry price (well, 1 Satoshi  Cool) and no fees!

  • The first draw will take place on: Friday 9th Sept. at 23:59 UTC/GMT (18:59 ET)
  • The prize pool is currently: 1.6547505 BTC (~$13.07)
  • The week 1 address is: 11epCFzxymwbbz4Qae1rtgYdn1M9WEkv4

The first 10 people to enter the lottery will receive 0.2 BTC as a thank-you  Smiley (please post in the forum to confirm when you have entered)

You must send funds using the Bitcoin client (not an eWallet) so that prizes can be returned to you!

Why no fees?
The costs involved are too small to warrant taking a percentage of the prize pool  Smiley Hopefully donations will cover the small costs involved with hosting the domain and updating the site.

How do you select a winner?
The total prize pool (in Satoshi's) is used as the number of "tickets". A ticket is selected at random using Dice Hash and the USA Lottery numbers as the random seed.

How much does the winner get?
The winner gets the entire prize pool. It is sent back to the address that they used to enter the lottery with (hence the need to use the Bitcoin client and not an eWallet!). In future draws the prize pool may be distributed to more people. This would be announced before the draw takes place.

This is all great, how do I enter?
Using the Bitcoin client, send the amount of Bitcoins that you wish to gamble with to the address for that week (p.s. the week 1 address is 11epCFzxymwbbz4Qae1rtgYdn1M9WEkv4). The more Bitcoins you send, the higher your chance of winning!

If you have any questions please fire away and good luck  Smiley

-John
