1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Roskomnadzor blacklists Binance in Russia on: September 25, 2020, 04:29:24 PM

A few hours ago Binance, the largest exchange platform has been blacklisted by Roskomnadzor (Russian telecom regulator) on the grounds that the exchange is "disseminating prohibited information".

However, this restriction does not lawfully prohibit Russians from accessing Binance so everything for now acts as normal.

So far it has been tentatively speculated that this decision has got nothing to do with Bianance's plan to launch a 'crypto debit card' in Russia.

In fact, very little is know as to what was the real cause of this measure. To read more about this story, click here.

To this extent the real reasons behind this remain unknown. Is this a new attempt to cripple blockchain and its descendant coins?

2  Economy / Gambling discussion / [Boxing] KSI vs Logan Paul 2 on: September 19, 2019, 07:16:23 PM
So it looks like KSI and Logan Paul are going to be having their rematch on November 9, after more than a year of waiting.

Who do you think will win the rematch? Odds currently have Logan Paul as the slight favorite, whereas several pro boxers have said it's too hard to call.

Saul Alvarez is going to be boxing Sergey Kovalev this November, the promoters say the undercard is going to be stacked with top talent, featuring the likes of Ryan Garcia and others.

How do you think the fight plays out? They will be fighting at light heavy with no catchweight.

The odds currently put Canelo as the clear favorite to win;

5  Economy / Gambling / Please research new sites before investing in them on: November 21, 2016, 03:35:08 AM
I think we've all seen this far too many times; somebody invests in a site that has been clearly identified as a scam by others, and then comes to their forum page to ask the admin about their payment. Recent example of this is people still trying to withdraw/deposit to diggit, even though it has been over a year since the site has been confirmed to no longer be running.

Can we all just take the time to research sites and ask around before we entrust them with our money? It'll save you the pain of knowing you just gave away money you can't reclaim, and helps reduce some of the unnecessary spam on here.

Sure, we could dismiss this as the fault of the person not looking into the site, but we should always encourage each other to be wiser and ultimately help create a positive community.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin and PayPal together? on: January 17, 2016, 04:33:37 AM
So I recently heard that the guy who started up Xapo was appointed to the board of directors at PayPal, which I think is a very interesting move, since they are competitors. The thing is, I'm confused as to their motives. I figured that they could perhaps be wanting to bring someone on to help integrate bitcoin into their system (which I think is unlikely) or they want to bring someone in who would help them "beat" bitcoin. What's your take on this?

10  Economy / Securities / Barter (BTR) on Havelock? on: June 01, 2015, 11:37:45 PM
Noticed a new IPO went up on Havelock today. Might be too early to tell, but what do you guys think of it? I haven't found too much on the company from looking on their site and reading what they put out on Havelock, and am uncertain as to how they plan on running things.

12  Other / Off-topic / Sports streaming? on: May 14, 2015, 05:01:13 AM
Where do you guys watch sports streams, mainly NBA, online for free? I've tried a bunch of sites, and myp2p has been letting me down as of late, but I can't really find any great ones. It doesn't even have to be the greatest quality, it just bothers me that they're all so choppy and buffer every few seconds
13  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Government Funded Farms? on: May 11, 2015, 11:55:32 PM
Has there ever been a mining farm that was fully or partially funded by the government? I know there have been plenty of private ones, but I've never seen one with gov backing. I think it would be interesting to see if any of them will make a move on it anytime soon

16  Economy / Economics / Impact of Bitcoin and Internet on Economy Research on: January 12, 2015, 01:59:05 AM
Does anybody have any really good resources for researching the topic of the internet's and bitcoin's impact on the economy? These would have to be more scholarly sources, rather than the general .com sites that can be thrown together by just about anyone   Cheesy
