8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / I0coin back on Vircurex on: September 15, 2013, 03:20:48 AM
With the release of the new I0coin wallet we have relisted I0coin on Vircurex.

For all of you who decided not to withdraw your I0coin balance back when we delisted the coin, we still had an old wallet backup which allowed us to recover those coins. I.e. your I0coin balances are all back again.
9  Economy / Marketplace / What is your preferred graph style on BTC exchanges? on: June 24, 2013, 02:34:04 PM
More and more sites are switching from line graphs (that show each single trade over a period of time, e.g. Vircurex) to OHLC graphs (open/high/low/close, e.g. btc-e).   Which one do you prefer to see and what timeframe (1 day, 1 week, ...) should be shown?

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Vircurex: Which of these coins would you like to see on Vircurex on: May 24, 2013, 05:38:02 PM
We are receiving quite a number of inquiries to list additional coins. There are already 12 coins traded on Vircurex in addition to USD and Euro, thus we'ld like to better gauge the community's interest to list additional coins.

This vote is NOT a commitment to list the winner, it is purely a market research action. If the vote turns out a promising candidate we will most likely put it up for vote to the Vircurex shareholders.

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / PPC Not loading the chain on: May 11, 2013, 12:57:32 PM
I have a newly setup server, copie the PPCoind over from another server and started it.  1 our later, still 0 connections and 0 blocks downloaded.  Any ideas?

I also compiled it locally on the new server, same result. I add addnode and pointed it to the old server still running, also to no avail.

Why is the ppcoind not connecting?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Feathercoin (FTC) on Vircurex on: May 01, 2013, 11:36:27 AM
Feathercoin is now listed on Vircurex.
15  Economy / Service Announcements / Virexa.com - The Exchange for early or experimental coins on: April 30, 2013, 02:50:03 PM
Name of Exchange: Virexa
Developer/ Operator / Owner: Vircurex
Objective: Provide a trading platform for coins that are to risky to put on any larger exchange yet, just think of double spend attacks, malicious code embedded in the source code, etc.

Read the small print here BEFORE using the exchange:
  • due to the high risk nature of this trading platform, we (neither Virexa nor Vircurex) assume any liabilities on funds held on the Exchange.
In case of losses due to double spend attacks or other security breaches, the losses will be shared proportionally among all account holders.
  • we will not be providing any sophisticated features at this point in time, i.e. no API, no eMail notifications, no 2FA, etc, though it may come in the future
  • once currencies make it past a "comfort" level, we will delist it on Virexa and relist it on Vircurex.  There will be no account transfers or any link between the two changes. All fund movements will need to be initiated by the account holder and will pass through the blockchains.
  • the Exchange will be a test bed for various new technological changes we plan to implement on Vircurex, hence trading might be affected from time to time
  • all support on the platform is on a best effort basis.

PS: The Exchange is still under development, and as such any or all statements above might change, up to a level that we might cancel the whole project.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Feathercoin compiles but doesn't startup, error Address family not supported by on: April 30, 2013, 01:44:44 PM
I compiled the wallet from the source on Github. All well, got the binary, but when I start up the daemon I get the following message:

Error: An error occured while setting up the RPC port 8994 for listening: Address family not supported by protocol

Any clues what's wrong here?

PS: Compiling on Ubuntu.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Compiling Bytecoin on Ubuntu on: April 12, 2013, 04:23:04 PM
Trying to compile Bytecoin on Ubuntu leaves me with the error message :

init.cpp:644:15: error: operator '!' has no right operand

This error appears on Ubuntu 11.04 as well as Ubuntu 12.04.

Any ideas?
18  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Upgrade to 0.8.1. not working, coins missing, huge memory consumption on: April 04, 2013, 12:37:23 AM
I upgraded my wallet to 0.8.1 and now:
 - coins are missing
 - memory consumptions shows 2.6GB

I did the upgrade twice, both times the same result:
1. Try:
 - on a new computer install the 0.8.1 version
 - start it and let it download the complete blockchain (into the brand new wallet)
 - stop bitcoind
 - replace the wallet .dat with my "real" wallet.dat (which I created using backupwallet)
 - set txindex=1
 - start bitcoind with the parameter -reindex

2. Try:
 - on a new computer install the 0.8.1 version
 - copy "real" wallet.dat (which I created using backupwallet) into the data directory
 - set txindex=1 in the conf file
 - start bitcoind

What went wrong?
a) Why are the number of bitcoins reported with getinfo different from my new and my old system?
b) The process shows 2.6GB !!!! memory usage. It used to be around 600 to 800MB

Since about 2 days transactions without fees are getting delayed, sometime up to several hours. This hasn't happened before. Anyone know what's going on?  Any new big miner who requires fees or too many transactions on the network?
