All the miners run on 12v - why not set up a bank of batteries and 14v solar to top charge all the batteries and just have a brownout circuit cut the connection if it dropped below 12v.  I am an old custom car guy and as I wander my garage I have a ton of GIANT 12V power supplies from running batteries to charge large scaled stereo displays.  One we built had 4 yellow top optimas and a Kinetic battery optimizer.  Currently we are losing a lot of efficiency going from dc-panels  to ac inverter and back to dc.  I know it's not the norm, but I guess I'm not normal.  Yes I am aware that it would take a healthy array of batteries.  and solar panels.

 Tangent # 2  CHademo plug on nissan leaf.  They have already developed leaf to home - essentially a bi directional charger/inverter.  It's too bad the nissan leaf doesn't have a 100wk battery in it.  With it's little itty bitty 23KW battery it's not worth hot lapping to charge the car in my opinion.  Even tho there are a lot of FREE chargers in Las vegas.  I used to have a tesla, but it was prior to the chademo adapter.  The adapter is $500 approx for the Tesla and the leaf to home 6kw inverter 20kw charger I can get for about 4k.  I cant be the only one that has thought about this.  90-100Kw super charged and used at home becomes worth it quickly.  However, I can't imagine that Tesla has not figured out that this is an option....

[We all need to unite as 1 and show them that this is not acceptable business practices. I ordered 2 and 1 works, a friend ordered 6 and 3 work. At Best we are working with 50% failure rate. The design that they used for this "bring the mining back home (to china for repair)" doesn't allow you to disassemble it and send the bad hash board back, you have to send the entire unit back to HONG KONG! Wholesale shipping rates are over 300$! This is not acceptable! IF they built an inferior miner with such terrible failure rates, BITMAIN needs to negotiate with Bitmain USA in Denver and have them do the repairs! There is a snowballs chance in HELL that I am paying 300$ for shipping a dead on arrival used in your warehouse for the last God knows how long to have you repair it! I understand that I received the units just a Chinese New Year was Hitting. But I didn't shell out $3000 for 50% failure rate! I feel even worse for the people that spent more! Lets make this the ROOT of all people with dead R4 hash boards under 90 day warranty that they expect us to spend 300$ shipping it back to them for repair! We need to build power in numbers. and let it be known - I have been a HUGE Bitmain supporter in the chat groups and also monetarily I've PERSONALLY spent over 100k with Bitmain and can post order numbers to prove it.  I am not just going away....

Buyer beware. Half of my R4's didn't make it more than 2 days.  So sad to see a company that has produced such quality product slipping violently!

I can post my buy history with Bitmain.  One order alone was 30 BTC. 

They need to address the quality control issues of this machine and most likely the T9. 

Read the other problem posts before they "sell out" of the next batch for us all to "Bring their miner back home to China" FOR REPAIRS -on our dime while difficulty goes thru the roof because they have disconnected all these machines and sold them to us and now they are "testing" the "new to us" machines in a month or 2.

I honestly LOVED Bitmain before this experience, I just wish that I would have read about all the problems prior to the last order.

OK, I have posted this stuff on here a while back but never took the time to hook it all up and double check to make sure that I was remembering correctly.  I just hooked it all up and it is hashing now.  It is self adjusting with the new install of GenTarkin the 3 hooked up on Litcoinpool is doing between 150 and I have seen over 300 but not marketing it as such - It will produce a solid 150Mh.  I am not looking to retire on this stuff.  I just know that there are a lot of people looking for KNC titans and controllers.  I would much rather sell complete!  I am not putting it on Ebay, but pretty much the Best winning bid gets it all.  Please post offers in the thread.

Ok- sorry in advance for the long explanation - however it is necessary.  

I had a S4 go down on me.  It was the BB.  So being the crafty guy I am - I grabbed the BB from an S5 (figured it was almost 1TH more to be running the S4)  everything is fine and dandy - I send the bad S4 BB to bitmain and they swap it for a BB for another S4 BB.  Simple enough - that's what I asked for.  

Now- I have no Idea which unit I used the old S5 BB in (I have almost 20) so it would be easier just to make the S4 BB work in an S5 -or so I think...

Here is the problem.  The S4 is designed to run off of an SD card ONLY.  So I figure - I will download the S5 image and put it on an SD card and flash it.  Well- that didn't work out.  I was able to get the S5 to boot with the SD card - But it ALWAYS has the default pool info for BITMAIN when it restarts or reboots.  So now - I would REALLY like to flash the S5 with the current SD card.  But it appears that you have to have an S2 button on the board to initiate flash.  *(I'm guessing bitmain saved a lot of money buying stripped down BB's)  At this point I either need to modify the code on the SD card to be my pools.  Or figure out a way to flash the BB with the SD card and get it back to normal.

Any help would be appreciated.  

unix skill set = lacking...But I follow directions VERY well - unless you are my wife! LOL

Hi,

Kinda new to this scene but an avid geek.  I read somewhere in this forum that someone was under the impression that when your Antminer solved the block that it would report in found blocks in the GUI.  I can tell you that is not the case.  I am in a pool that actually tells you who solved the block and I did it.  I went to take a pic of the found blocks (yeah I am a noob) and it didn't report.  Just some senseless trivia I guess.  (Oh and before someone asks - yes the pool is machine specific of which exact machine solved)

I can say I solved a block    That's about all...
