2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Check and verify.. BCC coins on: July 29, 2017, 08:17:52 PM
Yes to verify something say i am running a full core 0.14.1 node and August 1's rolls around i can simply download the bcc core qt copy over the data folder place my wallet.dat file in the bcc data folder and run bcc client.. I should in theory have bcc coins when it loads.. correct?  Also my btc should remain intact on the 0.14.1 core side right?

Thanks in advance..

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Seems Bitmain/Hashnest is banning ALL USA from using there services now on: July 03, 2017, 02:05:46 AM
Just went to send some ltc to my hashnest litecoin account and got the following, "Due to regulatory concerns beyond our control we cannot accept deposits from the State of New York."

Seems the idiots cant ip block, instead of just banning New York customers there just banning all United States customers.. Real smooth there Bitmain, copy and clone all our software/movies/music/etc but this one New York ruling got you scared?

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / BTC vs BTU keeping my coins safe on: March 29, 2017, 05:42:17 PM
I know there is a million post about  1 vs the other, this post isn't about that, what i want to know after the smoke settles, is how i can transfer my cold storage btc into which ever qt survived.. Would importing/exporting the priv keys work? Seeing i cant transfer the coins over the dead network anymore?

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / wallet.dat file size on: August 01, 2016, 11:03:14 AM
Does a wallet.dat file grow any say after 100 transactions? I got an copy of a backup thats 88 kb, then did 1 transfer to it closed bitcoin qt and it's showing now just over 1 mb.

Didn't think wallets could grow just have the private key in them..

PS

Just noticed when reloading the qt it loaded alot faster, although this is the first time i used core 12.1, did they do something to 12.1 to store all the index locations to make qt load faster?

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Are these new and upcomming blockchains going to need hashrate to secure them? on: April 23, 2016, 02:51:59 AM
Topic says it all, all these dime a dozen block chains that are coming out that everyone are creating, will they need computing power/hash rate to secure them from 51% attack like bitcoin does, or am i missing something??

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / More then 1 block conformation question. on: March 02, 2016, 02:58:45 AM
Yes are more blocks needed to be solved in order to move past the one block conformation? I mean isn't the math already done and all that is required is other nodes to verify the solved block?

Example: once a transaction is found in a block and is broadcasted do i need to wait for two more blocks to be solved in order for my txid to be verified? Or just to wait for the solved block to be broadcasted through all 1100+ nodes around the world till consensus is met?

Thanks

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Wallet.dat file not working on .12 version pune mode on: February 24, 2016, 02:35:06 AM
So... used my full node and prune it got it 100% sync update using the -prune=550 option.

Then copied my hot wallet thats ~ 2 years old into the data folder loaded up qt in prune mode to get error says could not access wallet.dat file due to the 2 gb limit being out of range and need to reindex/redown load the entire blockchain.

Correct me if i am wrong but isnt .12 client suppose to work with wallets transactions?

Wallet: Pruning
---------------

With 0.12 it is possible to use wallet functionality in pruned mode.
This can reduce the disk usage from currently around 60 GB to
around 2 GB.

Thanks

10  Economy / Securities / Havelock dragging ass on long withdraw times and still charging us .001 fees on: April 22, 2015, 10:04:33 PM
So ever since they came back from there 2 week "break" this year havelock has been taking 1/2 day sometimes to get withdraws to my wallet, even after paying the over priced of ~ .25 cents for fees .001 btc

So i emailed them and got back this response.

"All withdrawals are being verified and processed manually. We are working on a new development that will make the bitcoin transfers much more secure but until then we recommend not to use your Havelock wallet for direct payments to a third party."

Thank you,
Support Team

Well here is an FYI its called a script maybe you heard of it? Charging this much just to wait 6+ hours is insane. Good thing we don't really need what we paid for huh?

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Running a full bitcoin Node.. Sorta on: March 15, 2015, 01:13:29 AM
So today's question after reading..

http://www.coindesk.com/chainalysis-ceo-denies-launching-sybil-attack-on-bitcoin-network/

If someone like me whose running the latest Bitcoin Qt 24/7 with only 8 connections and not port forwarding, is it contributing to the network in anyway?
IE: Does it help to deciding who is on the orphan block or who's not, or is it just a leach without help securing the bitcoin network at all?

Thanks

12  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Difficulty retargeting with lower hashrate question.. on: September 30, 2014, 01:31:21 AM
I know the diff changes depending on the hash rate and retargets ever 1024 blocks? somewhere around there.. my question is what happens .. like it is now the hash rate drops and its taking longer then the average 10 mins per block, will bitcoin qt retarget sooner seeing its taking longer to solve a block now that there is less hash rate.. At the time of this post it's averaging 11 mins for a block to be solved. Are we going to have to wait longer then 2 weeks till the next 1024 blocks are solved  (ever how long that will be) before a retarget?

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin Qt wont load after last sync on: September 09, 2013, 04:30:00 AM
So rebooted my pc that's been running perfect for the past month, after updating to 0.8.4 and reload qt few days ago everything seemed fine. Till today shut down pc and let it reboot when qt started to load and verify blockchain it pops up with a error:

Corrupted block database detected.
Do you want to rebuild the block database now?

Ok/Abort.

Thing is i kept an old 34 hour old copy of the database folder i can copy it over and qt runs fine and it starts to sync and if i don't stop and restart qt it runs just fine. Until i close the app and try to restart it.

Anyone else having this problem?

Running Win7 64 bit and 32bit version of bitcoin qt 0.8.4

Thanks in advance.

PS when i was testing where the problem was i was able to close and restart the qt as it was syncing all the way up to 6 hours out after it past 6 hours and i closed and restarted qt  i got the corruption error.

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What exactly are we mining? on: June 05, 2013, 12:05:10 AM
Ok simple question, Itís my understanding that SHA256/MD5 and any other hash cannot be reversed hashed..?
SoÖ What are all these ASCI/video cards hashing/hacking.. ?
Main reason I am asking was talking to someone today and was telling him about Bitcoin and what was going on but when it came to the hashing part I was stumped. Didnít understand enough to explain it to him.

All that I learned from bitcon and how I got started was from this podcast  http://twit.tv/sn287.

Lastly one other thing if anyone say 15 years from now wants to start mining solo/other and they need the bitcoin block chain. Can you imagine how much data is going to be downloaded? Let along say 50+ years from now the storage/bandwidth needed just to get started to mine.

Thanks for the info/help.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Getting client to show hash rate in a window on: April 08, 2013, 02:19:02 PM
Got a quick question i am currently running the latest bitcoin-qt on a old p4 computer and remote mining to it, Question is i know it can solo mining via cpu hashing and by adding gen=1 in the bitcon.conf file i can tell something is happening via the task manager so i am assuming it's hashing , thing is i have no clue what it's hash rate is. I know ages ago the old bitcoin client used to show the hash rate in the client window. Is there anyway to get it to show up in the latest version?

Thanks in advance..

17  Other / Beginners & Help / earning bitcoins through host the block chain with transaction fees possable? on: April 02, 2013, 01:55:02 AM
Topic says it all, i know i don't have the hash rate that's needed to generate new bit coin solo mining, but if i run the bit coin client 24/7 with a small .01 fee does that mean as blocks are created and are sent though the network, others who use bit coin and make /send coins . Will my client receive any small amount of coins for repeating the block chain?

basically is there any real pay off for running the client and not using it for anything?
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Back from a 3 month break. on: June 10, 2011, 10:56:06 AM
So i downloaded the latest version of bitcoin client and noticed their is no generate coins on it anymore.

So what am i missing?

I went back to my older version 3.20.2 that has the generate coins and all seems well, so am i missing something or am I good to get more btc Smiley

Thanks in advance.
