TL;DR - Bitcoin tips have been unable to overtake advertisements as the main source of revenue for content creators due to the fact that not many people are willing to make donations. This problem can be solved with unique schemes that give audiences incentives to tip content creators. One option involves having audience members vote on upcoming content with their bitcoins. This model can be applied to movies, music, books, news organizations, free software development, and much more. It would also solve the “problem” of Internet piracy. Content could be freely available everywhere after the creator’s initial donation goals are met. New videos, songs, albums, blog posts, and more could be posted by content creators directly to a Reddit-like platform. This would allow the best content to gain more exposure.

It is time to announce the Free Bank of Digitalcoin, an initiative that aims to introduce  a new concept to the crypto-world.

What is the FBD?
A community inspired and funded effort to further the usage of DGC as a store of value and monetary unit.

What services are provided?
The primary service will be hedging and profit enabling. FBD will allow people to purchase DGC at a fixed rate (set to match market price), and hold contracts that provide the option of selling back the DGC at purchase price. Deposits and withdrawals will initially be accepted in bitcoin, litecoin, and USD.

How is this useful to me?
The FBD will serve to lower investor risk in crypto-currency and allow simple, risk free cash flow into digitalcoin.

Example:
1. John Doe decides he wants to invest in digitalcoin but he can't handle downside risk.
2. J.D. contacts the FBD for a DGC quote.
3. J.D. purchases digitalcoin directly from the bank and is given the option to sell them back at purchase cost.
4. Now, if the price drops, J.D. can execute his option and sell back the coins at purchase price. If the market rises, he can sell his digitalcoin on the open market.

By removing liquidity uncertainty regarding DGC, the FBD will serve to promote and nurture digitalcoin growth.

I'm also still open to the idea that there is a large flaw in the logic of this kind of service, but I haven't been able to find it yet. It seems like it's basically a buy back option, but I don't see it as an option on any of the Bitcoin exchanges.

has anyone thought of creating a coin that follows milton friedman's train of thought when it comes to monetary policy? his idea was to have a computer increase the money supply by 3% each year forever. some people would probably prefer this kind of policy on the creation of money rather than capping the total number of coins at a certain amount. just wanted to know if this has been discussed here. thanks.

I tried adding something like &topic=130117.0 to the end of that, but it actually subscribes me to the parent board of the thread instead of the individual thread. Anyone have some ideas? I currently receive notifications through email for certain threads, but it would be much better to get those updates through my RSS reader.

Bought this Playstation 3 a few months ago and have found myself not playing many video games lately. It was the 250 GB bundle with Uncharted 3 from Wal-Mart. There is one controller and an HDMI cable. Looking to get between 2 and 2.5 BTC for the bundle or around $225 at the current MTGOX/USD price level.

What are your thoughts on an alternative to bitcoin that actually has something behind it? It would offer the same security and privacy as bitcoin but it wouldn't have the flaws of paper money.
