2  Bitcoin / Mining support / Multicard Setup, only 1 card is showing up in mining software on: August 26, 2012, 02:35:33 AM
Hi all,
I have 3 ATI 5770 Juniper GPUs in in a Win7 64-bit system. All 3 are detected and properly running in device manager, but when I try to use mining software, only 1 card is seen. This is a new phenomenon. There was a time when all 3 were detected. Then it went down to 2. Now just the 1. It doesn't appear that there are any driver updates that have come down (as the drivers are dated back to 2011). I've tried using guiminer & ufasoft.

Any suggestions?
3  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Reduced hash rate over PCI-E x1 on: July 12, 2011, 12:34:19 PM
I've got 3 5770s in my machine. One of them uses a PCI-E x16 to PCI-E x1 extender cable adapter that I got from Cablesaurus and is sitting outside of my machine. The two cards in my machine get right about 180 MHash/s. The one out of my machine, running across the PCI-E x1 adapter cable only gets about 140 MHash/s. I have a 1080W power supply that, according to newegg.com's PSU calculator, should be enough for 4 cards, plus all kinds of other craziness that I don't have going on in my machine. I'm using guiminer on Windows 7.

So, is anybody else seeing reduced performance over PCI-E x1?
4  Bitcoin / Mining support / Multiple PSUs, had 1 burn out on: June 18, 2011, 10:21:05 PM
Howdy all,
I just added 2 ATI 5770s to my computer (I already had 1 5770 in there). One of the 5770s didn't fit inside my case, so I had to keep it on the table next to it. I used a PCI-E x1 -> PCI-E x16 adapter cable on the card outside the case. This was convenient, because my 550W PSU didn't have enough juice to run all 3 cards. I setup a second PSU, a 450W to run the card outside the case. On the 450W PSU, I shorted the 15 & 16 slots on the 24 pin cable, so it would think it's on. And I ran one of the 6 pin cables to the GPU outside the case. Well, the 550W PSU just died on me. I tested it to be sure, and it is toast. I noticed that even if I forgot to plug in the 450W PSU and started up my computer, the GPU's fan outside the case would still kick in. My question is: Is it possible that the third GPU was pulling power from the PCI-E slot (which would mean that it's pulling from the 550W PSU) and not the 6-Pin (which was connected to the 450W PSU)? Does anybody else use multiple PSUs to run their mining rig?
5  Bitcoin / Mining support / Had Three Cards Installed Last Night; This Morning Only Two on: June 18, 2011, 02:12:45 PM
Hey everybody,
I installed two new ATI 5770 in my computer last night. I had 1 5770 already installed. They were all working fine when I went to bed. I'm running Windows 7. When I woke up in the morning, the card I had already installed wouldn't send a signal to my monitor, until I restarted. After restart, my monitor is displaying properly. But, one of my 2 new cards isn't showing up in my device manager anymore. It's also not in the GUI Miner drop down menu. Anybody have any ideas about what might have happened?
6  Bitcoin / Mining support / GPU in 2nd PCI-E x16 Slot Not Showing Up on: June 18, 2011, 05:07:55 AM
I just put in 2 new ATI 5770s into my machine. 1 is in my second PCI-E x16 slot. The other is attached by an adapter to my PCI-E x1 slot. I previously installed an ATI 5770 card in my first PCI-E x16, which has been working fine. The card in the PCI-E x1 slot is working great, but the card in the second PCI-E x16 slot isn't. I'm running Windows 7. The second x16 card has shown up in my Display Adapters in the Device Manager, but I can't find it in GUI Miner. Both new cards have dummy plugs that I made myself. Anybody know what's going on here?
7  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / n00b looking for a good miner for an AMD rig on: June 11, 2011, 11:24:45 PM
I'm basically looking for a miner that will run both an AMD CPU & GPU. I have an
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition AM3 CPU & a HIS H577FK1GD AMD Radeon HD 5770 GPU. Is there a miner that will work both?

I am currently using Ufasoft's miner (although I haven't updated in a while). If I'm understanding things correctly, Ufasoft's miner is set up to run Intel CPUs and AMD GPUs, and so I'm not putting my CPU to work. I'm currently running at about 66.6Mhash/s.

Thanks in advance!
