1  Bitcoin / Mining / Why would BitFury mine/work on two blocks at same height? on: February 18, 2016, 10:49:53 PM
Found this when randomly looking at orphaned blocks data.

Main Chain (miner unknown): https://blockchain.info/block-index/1021537/0000000000000000081ede271149c7405207d51845ffb6973dfe97952c15e19c
Orphan 1 (BitFury): https://blockchain.info/block-index/1021538/00000000000000000486299ff5b9c903531af986d9845b497b7d290bfc0192c0
Orphan 1 (BitFury): https://blockchain.info/block-index/1021539/000000000000000008a61a2f8e084d67b75f87df91ad9af6c27d962e0f62dfd2

Why would BitFury be work on two blocks of the same height? By doing so, if two are found, one of them would certainly be orphaned. In this case, both were.

7  Bitcoin / Project Development / [ANN] Open Govt - open source algorithmic government w/ voluntary participation on: January 06, 2014, 11:47:19 AM
One of the potential applications cryptocurrencies can bring in the future are non-monopolistic, open-source, and largely algorithmic governments. These governments will be transparent, inexpensive to operate, and efficiently serve the interests of its tax payers. This is what I see as a realistic possible scenario for an an-cap society. The reason behind the open-source and algorithmic nature is that new governments must be inexpensive to create, in order to keep the threat of competitors keep dominant governments honest. Otherwise, an anarchist society may evolve into an oligarchy or monopoly as we have today. Bitcoin will be used for voluntary tax revenue in any potential services this startup government can think to provide.

11  Economy / Services / Seeking someone with marketing experience for pre-beta campaign on: September 25, 2013, 07:44:55 PM
Please PM me your credentials.

I will then explain the service to you, show you our site, etc.
Looking for someone who can help me create an effective pre-beta marketing campaign to meet our goals for beta. This person must be able to explain the rationale behind the marketing campaign and have a real deep discussion about it.

Pay is negotiable.

Edit: to be more clear on the goal of beta, it's to get roughly 20-50 testers who are able to test the service, and provide feedback like bugs, feature suggestions, UI changes, etc.
12  Bitcoin / Project Development / [Bounty] Free advertising for Bitcoin, need volunteer to design ad on: September 24, 2013, 12:41:52 AM
A friend of mine who's a co-founder of a new digital signage ad network called Enplug has offered me free advertisements during their beta testing period. Since getBspendB is not yet ready to advertise, we are happy to donate all this advertisement time to promote Bitcoin.

The ads are played on top 1/3 of a 1080p screen in vertical position around Los Angeles on several hundred screens. The resolution will be 1080x606. Each ad slot will be 15 seconds, but he said I can take up two for up to a 30 second ad. This is a great promotional opportunity in my opinion since they just launched and have plenty of ad space. In addition, they are quickly expanding number of screens in LA so this would be a relatively focused campaign on a population. It's likely that many viewers will see these screens (and thus Bitcoin promotional ads) multiple times at multiple venues over the course of a few months.

Let's hear some ideas!

18  Bitcoin / Project Development / New way to determine btc/usd price on: June 20, 2013, 05:46:17 PM
We've always determined the BTC/USD exchange rate via last price on mtgox. Their relatively low trading volumes now can no longer properly represent sentiment of the larger bitcoin economy. This is a problem I've been thinking about for a while, and with the withdraw problems mtgox has had, there is a need to move away quoting gox. Anyone have any ideas as to how to do this?
19  Economy / Marketplace / WTS btcdx.com bitcoin dealextreme on: June 15, 2013, 02:10:34 PM
I am selling btcdx.com, which includes domain name, hosting, code, everything.
I have no time to maintain it, and would like someone to take it over.

Looking for the right person, one that can properly cater to EU and S. American markets (which compose most of my customers even the site targets US). It is written if flask. Simple form changes to be world wide, seo, marketing, and a little TLC can easily increase dramatically.

It's currently not really a for profit site, but you're welcome to change rates.

Reputable members only.
20  Economy / Services / Need a simple diagram drawn 0.2 BTC (filled) on: June 11, 2013, 04:47:26 AM
Just need a quick simple diagram. I have it drawn on paper, and would like a graphic designer to turn it into a digital version.

Might need more images for my project in the future, so this can lead to more gigs.

Please PM me
