1  Other / Meta / I think we need to take a feature from the land of the trolls. on: June 12, 2011, 12:20:46 AM
Specifically I think it would help to have the ability to reply to a thread without bumping it to the top of the forum. Much like 4chan's sage feature.

This would let people reply with a counter to misinformation without furthering the life of the thread.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / malicious "gifts" on: March 08, 2011, 12:11:50 AM
It occurred to me after seeing the listing, on the wiki trade page for a site, selling sex toys for bitcoins that there could be a problem with malicious "gifts". Since it is difficult or impossible for a merchant to determine if the address a product is sent to belongs to the person ordering it, I can imagine someone ordering a butt plug or ball gag for a local politician they did not like.

More subtle but providentially more dangerous would be sending a product that the recipient was deathly allergic to. Such as a box of peanuts to someone with a strong peanut allergy.

How much of a problem could this be for merchants accepting bitcoins?
3  Economy / Marketplace / WTS Portal 2 Steam pre-purchase 47BTC [SOLD] on: March 06, 2011, 10:20:03 PM
Steam offers a additional 10% discount for buying two copies of portal 2 at once.

So I am looking for someone interested in buying the other half of the 2 pack for 47BTC.

Edit: bitcoin bid price went up so my price went down.
4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Idea: Dedicated wallet management linux distro. on: February 26, 2011, 11:15:49 PM
It seems to me that for maximum security of your bitcoin wallet a linux distro striped of everything not needed for running a bitcoin wallet might be a good solution.

As it would be a pain to have to start up the machine, wait for the block chain to update, and then manually type in the receiving address: I would imagine most people keeping most of their bitcoins on the dedicated machine and having a separate less secure wallet on their main machine for day to day transactions. Basically a bitcoin safe to compliment your bitcoin wallet.

I don't have the programing skill to make such a distro or enough bitcoins to need it atm but I though I would share the idea.
