1  Economy / Service Announcements / [Update] RSM on: June 19, 2016, 06:48:32 PM
Red Star Management (ex Red Star Mining) will do a full update in the near future.  I've no secure Ledger access at the moment.  That's all and why I've been silent about the outfit recently.
2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / RBF transactions to be enabled at the next core update on: January 17, 2016, 01:33:50 PM
Can anyone tell the major benefits of this update apart from what I understand is to help induce a free market for transaction fees.  Won't it break the ability to accept zero confirmation transactions?  As there are currently methods to do so with great certainty that a zero confirmation transaction will go through the next block.  And also doesn't this break the core ethos of bitcoin being a pure push system only.  I've read the RBF transactions update is being merged into bitcoin core at the next update.  Isn't that a little hasty for such a drastic change to the protocol to be brought in so quickly.  After it took us a good several months to agree on re-increasing the blocksize.

4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Changing the block reward reduction to happen per block rather than one day on: March 10, 2015, 10:21:35 PM
What about changing the block reward reduction to happen per block rather than a one day event happening every four years.  The last and first block reward reduction happened when bitcoin mining was still GPU mined.  And most people were mining for the fun of it at home.  Even though they were probably paying a lot more in electricity power then they were financially generating in bitcoin.  This move would end a possible shock event in Q4 2016 - Q1 2017 when the next block reward reduction happens.  The mining scene is very different now to how it was during the last block reward reduction of Q4 2012.  As I've already said mining was mostly a hobbyists pursuit then by miners willing to mine at a short term financial loss.  To speculate long term on bitcoin and as one of the easiest and most anonymous way to acquire bitcoin at the time.  Things are very different today and the next block reward reduction.  Could quite possibly be a shock event where the hashrate may drop dramatically.  Opening up the network to an attack event a lot easier and cheaply.
This idea has already been alpha tested for the Bitcoin network by Monero.  Who already have this type of emission.  This fundamental change to the block reward does not have to affect the 21mn hard cap or any of the other bitcoin protocol fundamentals.  While in effect it could help make the bitcoin network much more secure.

6  Economy / Computer hardware / Bitmine 1Thps/1kW rigs 2BTC each in Kansas City on: September 09, 2014, 11:08:21 PM
I have five of the five board ~1Thps@~1.05kW Bitmine Swiss rigs and not the Chinese clones.  These rigs can be down-volted for increased efficiency using the built in GUI.  Looking at 2BTC per rig plus shipping which you will decide on and pay.  We will ship these rigs by September 30th from Kansas City.  They're currently hosted at $0.14USD per kWh paid in Bitcoin and you can choose to take over their US paid hosting which can be paid in bitcoin.  Although you'll probably pay more than $0.14USD for a full managed service.

GREENBANK ACQUIRES GREENCOIN CRYPTOCURRENCY SOFTWARE

JUNE 11, 2014 BY ADMIN
Toronto, Ontario, June 11, 2014 – GreenBank Capital Inc (CSE: GBC) (“GreenBank”) is pleased to announce that it has signed a definitive agreement (“Agreement”) to acquire all the rights, title and interest to the GreenCoin cryptocurrency software. When all aspects of the GreenCoin software are completed, GreenCoin will be a new innovative cryptocurrency featuring digital identification that aims to resolve the “trust based concerns” with other virtual currencies.

Users of other cryptocurrencies are not identifiable and therefore those cryptocurrencies are not only susceptible to be used for illegal purposes, but are not easily taxable by governments. These concerns make global acceptance of cryptocurrency transactions more difficult. GreenCoin will provide a solution by adding email, or phone identification to all GreenCoin transactions. Those intending illegal activities will not use GreenCoin as they can be easily identified. Global governments will be able to collect taxes based on GreenCoin transactions with rules for each type of transaction.

GreenBank’s newly formed subsidiary GreenCoin Inc, which now owns all the rights, title and interest to GreenCoin, intends to complete the software by adding additional features to the GreenCoin software protocol, prior to launching it on the market. Upon launch it will commence an awareness and marketing campaign for GreenCoin. At that time Greencoin Inc will seek to add GreenCoin miners and GreenCoin retail users and create a GreenCoin network, and will seek acceptance of GreenCoin by governments and banking institutions.

GreenBank owns 75% of GreenCoin Inc, the lead developer Nilam Doctor owns 5%, and First Cyberking Network Limited (“FCN”) which has participated in the development of Greencoin owns 20%. GreenBank’s CEO, Danny Wettreich, has been appointed Chairman and CEO of GreenCoin Inc, and FCN’s CEO, Maxime Ngan, has been appointed a Director and Vice Chairman. Other directors of GreenCoin Inc are Nilam Doctor who is Chief Technology Officer, Paul Cullingham and Mark Wettreich.

Mr Ngan is an entrepreneur and investor based in Mauritius with business interests in telecommunications, shipping, and hotels. Mr Doctor is the lead developer of GreenCoin and a technology consultant and programmer. He is a Grant Committee Member of the Bitcoin Foundation and has assisted in multiple cryptocurrency projects.

“As an identified digital cryptocurrency, I believe that GreenCoin will represent a big step forward in the effort to resolve governmental concerns and users trust issues” said Danny Wettreich, CEO of GreenBank.
“We are delighted to be working with GreenBank to complete the development of GreenCoin and launch it on the market” said Maxime Ngan, CEO of FCN.

GreenCoin Inc is a software development company developing a unique cryptocurrency product featuring digital identification. GreenCoin has not yet been launched on the market. Securities regulatory authorities in Canada, including the Ontario Securities Commission, have yet to determine the impact of an investment product that invests in cryptocurrencies, including whether or not cryptocurrencies constitute a suitable asset class for retail investors. Upon the launch of the GreenCoin cryptocurrency on the market an investment manager registration or a dealer registration may or may not be required, and if required there is no guarantee that such registration applications if made would be granted. GreenBank has previously filed on Sedar on March 27, 2014 a Material Change Report containing disclosures with regard to the risk of investing in cryptocurrencies, and has filed today a further Material Change Report adding to such disclosures with respect to GreenCoin. There is no guarantee that the GreenCoin software will be completed, and if completed will be utilized in the market, and if utilized will be successful.

9  Bitcoin / Group buys / Red Star (Bitcoin and Litecoin) Mining on: April 05, 2014, 02:28:47 PM
We currently have one 2TH/s Bitmine rig on pre-order which is currently late.  We have five KNCminer Neptunes from the very first batch on pre-order.  Plus we also have four 90MH/s Alpha Viper Scrypt rigs on pre-order from the very first batch.  Although we may be refunding the deposit on two of them due to the current drop in Bitcoin prices.  As we currently can't afford to pay for all four at current Bitcoin prices.  Along with all those pre-orders our wallet currently holds nearly BTC30.00.  You can buy our shares here - https://796.com/rsm?op=market - this is our blog URL - http://www.redstarmining.com/ - and this is our original forum thread link - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=63257.0

We aim to reinvest 90% of all profits after costs into new hardware etc.  With the other 10% being issued as a monthly dividend.  This is also our third year of operation so you can feel more comfortable about us not just running off in the middle of the night.  Instead of cancelling and refunding two of our Alpha Viper batch #1 deposits we may offer them as a separate group buy managed by RSM.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin paper wallet on: March 11, 2014, 11:18:02 AM
SECURE, ENCRYPTED DARKCOIN PAPER WALLET

I forked bitcoinpaperwallet.com to support Darkcoin too. I've issued a pull request on the origin, so if you're in support of this go and register your support on the pull request page on Github. To use it now, grab my repo's darkcoin

I've also ported liteaddress to support DRK, so if anybody's interested in me uploading the source let me know here and I'll upload it separately. It's not as featureful as bitcoinpaperwallet.com, but it's a hell of a lot more lightweight.

Keep on keeping on!

Confirming that donation address is mine. Added to post in the other thread too.

20  Economy / Services / US ASIC hosting to help EU miners avoid >20% import VAT on: December 24, 2013, 06:52:30 PM
www.redstarmining.com - is contemplating of soon offering ASIC hosting in the US to help EU miners avoid >20% import VAT.  Our electrical costs we have to pay are good too at <=$0.12 per kWh.  RSM is two years old in January so you don't have to worry about us running off into the night.  The thread is just to gauge potential interest before we design our data centre.  We'd probably offer six months contracts.  So that when the six months is up you can ship home your ASIC's on there new reduced shipping values.

We think the cost we'll be able to charge is anywhere from $0.18 per kWh to $0.21 per kWh depending on how many we end up hosting.  We'd like to offer a 0% fee P2Pool node (to  help network decentralisation) with cash back bonus for using the pool based on your hash rate.  The cash back bonus wouldn't stand for any scypt ASIC's hosted.  I know some of you will have similar power rates at home but we're helping you to avoid the VAT costs.  Which should help pay for the power.  It'll be based on six month contracts where afterwards you can have your miners shipped home at reduced value VAT.  We may offer a pre-order scheme to help us build the datacentre.

We'll only accept BTC/LTC as we're a BTC/LTC based mining company setting this up.  We'd probably ask for a deposit to cover the initial setting up and rent needed to be paid in advance.  Then you could pay the full amount when your miners start hashing.  We'd have rent, building work and network fees to pay upfront.  Also - www.redstarmining.com - the parent company setting this up is entering its third year of operation.  While we'd be using this data-centre to host our own ASIC's too.
