1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Internal transactions. Does wallet need to stay open to confirm? on: February 18, 2014, 06:10:34 AM
G'day

Just wondering if I need to leave the wallet open for "internal" transactions? Seems to be sitting on 3 confirms for awhile now.

Just wondering.

Update: I think so (?) as the confirms are increasing now that I left it open for 5mins compared to closing it and reopening it 30mins later.
2  Bitcoin / Mining support / Afterburner 7950 unable to lower memclock lower than 625. [RESOLVED] on: May 31, 2013, 06:58:50 AM
G'day guys.

I've followed the instructions as per: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=111891.0

I can't seem to lower my memclock in afterburner for my two sapphire dualx 7950s lower than 625.

Is this a limitation of the cards (bios)? Or is it still achievable to get them down to 300?

I'm running 12.8 cat, 2.8 app sdk. I've tried setting memclock to the lowest, closing afterburner and re-opening but 625 is still the lowest.

My cfg is as per the link above and I have the dll file in the afterburner folder...

Thanks for any help provided

update: deleted the profiles folder, but lowest it will allow is 310. Anyways I'll take that Smiley
3  Bitcoin / Mining support / CGMiner Runs at kh/s instead of mh/s. [RESOLVED] on: May 31, 2013, 03:21:38 AM
Just like that other guy my cgminer is running at kh/sec..

here is my cgminer config, anything in it causing cgminer to report in kh/sec?

-o stratum+tcp://us1.eclipsemc.com:3333 -u  -p -o stratum+tcp://us2.eclipsemc.com:3333 -u  -p --auto-fan --gpu-fan 50-95 --temp-overheat 80 --temp-cutoff 83 --temp-target 73 --no-submit-stale --api-listen --api-allow W:127.0.0.1 -I 20 --gpu-powertune 20 --vectors 1 --worksize 64 -g 1

Update:

got it going with this:

-o stratum+tcp://us1.eclipsemc.com:3333 -u  -p -o stratum+tcp://us2.eclipsemc.com:3333 -u  -p --auto-fan
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Sapphire 7950 @ 650-800Kh/sec! lulz on: May 10, 2013, 02:43:02 AM
G'day

Been playing with my system trying to eek out the best hash rate and now, no matter what I try it won't hash more than 100Khash/sec.

I was using 13.4 Cat + 2.8 SDK. Tho from researching to try and sort my issue looks like I should be using 12.7 + 2.7...

I'm going to try installing 12.8 CAT + 2.7 SDK and see how this goes. I've reset everything back to defaults. I have a bad feeling my card is "fried" even tho I haven't overvolted the thing. All I was doing was undervolting. I'm worried I may have "fried" it to some extent as it got quite hot and ended up crashing. But when I run MSI Kombustor no artiffacts or anything in its 3d testing... Its just cgminer that I have an issue with.

Any ideas? This is 1 GPU out of a 2x7950 setup with the 2nd 7950 working fine and getting greater than 550Khash/sec. Thus why I think the card has become borked. Also tried booting off it with the bios switch in the 2nd position, still no better Sad

Well wish me luck a reinstall of catalyst and to a different version may help fix it?

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks!
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What are some popular feathcoin pools? on: May 02, 2013, 10:43:49 PM
Hey

I'd like to get into feathercoin mining, I've searched and can't really determine what pool is worthwhile over another.

For now I've selected fc.dontmine.me is this an OK one? How quick are they to payout?

Thanks
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cheapish mining rig - what do you think? on: May 02, 2013, 05:51:51 AM
Mobo ASRock FM2A85X Extreme6
CPU AMD A4-5300 3.4Ghz FM2 CPU
RAM Patriot 8GB DDR3-1600 (4GGx2)
HDD Use existing supply
DVDRW None
GPU (x3) SA-7950-3GD5-OC-V2 3GB 7950 OC PCI-E VGA Card
PSU Corsair AX860I
Case Coolermaster HAF XB , Antec Skeleton
Cost approx $1500.

I'm expecting a hash rate of anywhere from 1900 to 2100kh/sec for ltc mining. I base this off what others get with 7950 and well I can get 650-700/khash with my 6950 + 5770 in my main pc.

I'm thinking about building 2, one with the coolermaster case and another with the anetc. I like both cases as far as being used for a mining rig so max airflow/ventilation etc is paramount. The coolermaster reminds me of those milk crate mining rigs out there and well I like the anetc espeically with it having a fan to aid with airflow....

I've looked at AM3 and Intel and the above is what I been able to come up with for the cheapest price. Also the motherboard seems to have integrated graphics, so it shall be interesting if I can also use that in cgminer to mine with to add to the overall hashrate.

I've gone with the non vaporX sapphires due to space issues as their cooling from what I can tell will cause the card to take up 2.5 slots, whereas the non vaporx editions seem to just take up the standard 2 slots. With the spacing of the PCI-E slots on the asrock board I should hopefully be able to get away with running 3 GPUs.

The PSU is the most expensive as its the most critical other than the GPUs and has the required PCI-E connectors. I've found if I go a non platnium rated psu I lack a pair of PCI-e power plugs I need for the 3rd GPU. Granted I could run it off a molex adapter connected to the power used for peripherals but I'd prefer not to. Also the corsair comes with a 7 year warranty which is nice. Also being 80+ Plat rated is always good for the long term to try and keep down power costs as much as possible.

Look forward to reading helpful comments Smiley
7  Other / Beginners & Help / What Australian BTC exchange do you recommend? on: March 02, 2012, 12:05:37 PM
Gday

I'm looking to deposit aud into btc and then transfer to my e-wallet, what Australian exchanger is recommended? CryptoExchange?

Thanks
8  Other / Beginners & Help / cgminer, on ati and setting memory clock on: November 13, 2011, 10:57:55 PM
** i'd post in the cgminer thread, but well can't Sad **

Anyway, cgminer great program love how you can specify memory and engine speed within the program rather than using a seperate overclock tool.

one problem i've found is the underclocking in cgminer doesn't seem to work as good. in a seperate o/c program like say msi afterburner or trixx i can get the memory to sit stable at 300mhz. with cgminer i'm unable to get that speed to set. Also I think at one time I was able to get it to stick but it caused video corruption. This is odd since with the dedicated o/c programs, i was stable at 300mhz for memory and stock 6970 gpu (885) speeds. Yet if i try to use the same via cgminer's gpu management the speed doesn't set or is unstable.

I'm ok with setting it to the lowest it can go for cgminer (which is about 675) but just curious why cgminer can't set my gpu to settings other programs can? Or are those other programs incorrectly reporting the speed? As I do notice when cgminer tries to set the speed it says successful but the returning value for memory has not changed and reverts back to its default clock. Its interesting when the setting does stick in cgminer both the gpu and memory report a speed of 250/150 and when u go proceed (ie press any key) the new setting is displayed.

Is this "fixed" in the newest version or just something I have to live with? (which I can). There is no big deal in performance just the operating temp of the gpu is slightly lower.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / 6950/6970 owners what settings do you use for mining?! on: November 02, 2011, 12:25:30 AM
Hey

I just upgraded from a 5770 to a 6950 (unlocked to 6970 shaders), I'm getting atm an avg of 400Mhash/sec.

GPU isn't o/c that much only to 885 and stock 6970 mem speeds.  Using -f1 -w128 on the miner.

What miner, settings etc are you using and what mining rate are you getting?

Cheers

ps - not a e-penis measuring contest, just interested in seeing what settings others are using to see if I can improve. Thanks
10  Other / Beginners & Help / NVIDIA GTX 560 (1GB) vs ATI 6950 (1GB) - which is best for mining? on: October 28, 2011, 12:17:38 AM
G'day

I'm looking at a gpu upgrade for games and also bitcoin mining amongst other things, the 6950 is the better of the two when it comes to games performance I've found but is about $30-$50 more expensive to what I can get a GTX 560 for around here. The drop in performance on the Nvidia is not that bad (about 5-10fps) and in some instances bests the 6950, and you have a saving of $50 there abouts?

refer: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/330?vs=293

Anyway how does the 560 rack up with bitcoin mining performance compared to the 6950?  I take it the ati is still better based off the games benchmarks but won't be anything massive?
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Mining with gpu + cpu - results in low Mhash/sec rate on: October 26, 2011, 11:45:51 PM
G'day

I'm using guiminer and when I set it up with 2 workers, one for gpu one for cpu it results in crap work rate.

With just the gpu worker I am getting about 195Mhash/sec (ATI 5770) adding and additional CPU worker, results in the work rate dropping significantly to liek 25Mhash/sec. Why is this the case?

Thanks
12  Other / Beginners & Help / ATI 5770 - ATI Catalyst 11.7 vs latest on: October 26, 2011, 07:32:35 PM
Just got started the other day this week, found running the latest ati driver drops my rate from 190Mhash/sec so about 90.

After further investigations it appears to underclock the card and then does not ramp it up when being worked.

Downgraded to 11.7 as this is listed as being official tested with the latest opencl (v2.5).

Hope this helps Smiley
