1  Economy / Auctions / auction: 2011 casascius series 2 1 btc on: December 08, 2013, 08:52:35 PM
I bought this coin back in december of 2011 and immediately put it in a plastic case where it has been ever since.  It is still funded and in really good shape.  Note: this is not the coin with the spelling error, it is from the first run of the correctly spelled coins.  This auction will end december 13, 2013 at 9 pm eastern time.  bidding starts @ 1.1 btc with increments of .05 btc.  good luck!
2  Other / Off-topic / monster energy drinks bullying hobbyist forums! on: July 21, 2012, 12:27:26 AM
hey all! besides mining and gambling bitcoins one of my other hobbies is that i breed african cichlids.    Anyhow among fishkeepers, the forum Monsterfishkeepers.com is tops, everyone in the hobby goes there.  Now they are being threatened with a lawsuit by Monster energy drinks for the Use of the word Monster, and the letter "M" in their logo.  Monsterfishkeepers owns the trademarks for their name and their logo, but in no way can afford to defend a lawsuit vs a large corporation and monster knows this.  I think this is absolutely shameful that a corporation could actually legal claim to have exclusive rights to a common word, or the fricking letter m!  So i'm boycotting monster, which kind of sucks bc i drink them a pretty good bit. and i signed the petition.  You can read more about it and sign the petition here:  http://support.monsterfishkeepers.com/  ,
thanks!

4  Economy / Goods / fishing lures for bitcoins? on: February 29, 2012, 12:51:33 PM
Irl During the spring and summers i have a side job as a fishing guide. Through those connections today i purchased a HUGE lot of fishing lures, all in excellent shape, quite a few are new in box.  I am loathe to sell them on ebay but i will if i have to. i figured i'd post this to see if there is any interest in buying fishing lures w/btc before i went ahead and comprimised my principals on ebay.  i can promise very good deals! i haven't been through the whole lot since it is 3 plastic tubs full to the brim.  If anyone is looking for a specific lure please post and i'll keep in mind and seperate out when i'm sorting the lures.   Also if anyone is near western maryland and would like to go on a canoe fishing trip i'll gladly take you for a small amount of btc.  Details are here: www.potomacfloats.com
here is a small sample of the lures i have:
5  Economy / Goods / Lucky 1/2 oz 999 fine silver round shipped to us/canada for 4.75 btc on: February 24, 2012, 03:25:22 AM
So of my silver rounds, my Liberty Lobby Andrew Jackson has always been my lucky one.  Andrew Jackson was a surly old bastad so I've used him to make all my important poker decisions.  Today while i was scouring pawn shops for silver i found one that had a whole bunch of them!  So i got some and thought I'd pass some of the luck on to you guys!  These coins are in pristine shape as i believe they are all still in the original packaging from the mint.  Sorry the pictures don't do them near enough justice.  Anyway 4.75 btc or 3000 ltc  gets one sent to your door.  If you are outside US or Canada send a pm and i'll find out how much it costs.  Also if you're in Canada it takes a little while to get there because of customs. Not sure why Canadians would want an Andrew Jackson coin anyways since he was the only US president to actually go to war with Canada.    thanks for looking!
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / precious metals and alt currencies on: February 23, 2012, 07:20:01 AM
so now that i've sold a round of silver for litecoins i'm wondering if it is effective at all as establishing an alt crypto currency.  My question to you guys is do you think selling prec metals for litecoins, solidcoins, namecoins etc will help/hurt the legitimacy of an alt currency? or have no effect?  i mean, i know only selling a few ounces here or there is going to have no real effect but what if someone were to start offering large quantities for said coin?
7  Economy / Goods / 1oz silver round for litecoins! on: February 18, 2012, 11:50:18 PM
5000 litecoins gets you 1 oz of 999 Silver. This is a 1985 engelhard "american prospector" round.  its not in pristine shape, a little scratched and tarnished. but at the end of the day it is 1oz 999 fine silver and therefore a valid currency or investment anywhere in the world. shipping is included for the US and canada.  If you are interested and from a country other than those two, pm me and i'll go to the post office and work out how much/if its legal to import and give you a quote. Ships on Tuesday feb 21 because of holiday on monday.
8  Bitcoin / Mining support / opinions on monitor flicker on: February 09, 2012, 01:30:26 PM
So i've been mining for a while with 2 hd 6850's but recently when i run in high resolution my moniter starts flickering/tracking something awful.  I suspect its the monitor bc if i run in a lower resolution with 75hz refresh it (for the most part) clears up the problem.  I just would like to know if anyone else has had problems with flickering? I'd hate to dump a pile of money on a monitor and find out its stress from 24/7 mining.  My gpu's are running at 63 degrees and 74 degrees.   the monitor is a cheapy hanns-g 27.5".  I hooked up an old CRT i had with no problems.  any input would be appreciated!

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / litecoin solo mining newb questions on: December 13, 2011, 09:14:45 PM
so i have the litecoingui and minerd and all its accompanying files in the same folder and have been successfully pool mining for about a week now.  i wanna try to solo mine for two weeks or so but i have a couple of concerns.
1. How do i know if its working? i've run it for about an hour or so and it just says "mining started" i understand there'd be no shares, but is it going to give any indication that its doing what its supposed to?
2. Does it matter that my mining computer is sometimes offline for a few hours sometimes? this is my main concern.  Its not offline often but right now my isp SUCKS and drops connection every few days.  will that restart the process?

anyway thanks for your time!
