1  Bitcoin / Press / [2015-08-04] FS: Where Does Bitcoin Fit in the Currency Crisis? on: August 05, 2015, 09:31:27 PM

These are the types of places bitcoin can add value for consumers and businesses: places where making payments and moving capital are problems

An editorial that makes some good points (at least it is serious about it) and some stupid points but is written from mainstream thought. Therefore, it misses the opportunity to turn some of the thinking upside down. Food for thought: what if the price of a US Dollar is or will be measured in Bitcoin instead of Bitcoin being priced in US Dollars?

Main point: Bitcoin can serve to evade capital controls. What I miss in the article is the sense that Bitcoin could evolve into a stable numeraire. Something much wanted in our nightmare of floating paper money with artificially low interest rates.
2  Bitcoin / Press / 2103-07-04 Engadget - Mt. Gox Bitcoin exchange back in action on: July 04, 2013, 07:54:24 PM
Just a regular update on Mt Gox on one of the largest electronic and tech gadgets: Engadget.

It strikes me that the majority of tech-savy visitors do not seem to care much about Bitcoin. That's a shame because these people should probably form the first larger user base. I have given this a push from a moral perspective, but perhaps the non-emotional aspects work better with this crowd.

Please fill in in the comments as you deem fit.
